realy cylinder, but he intended to break it, look at the way he pressed down on it. These cylinders while fragile are not that fragile. And far from being unique this was mass produced. Now if this had been a brown cylinder, I would be upset.
Poor man was so dissapointed. These cylinders get very fragile as they age. I've had 20 of them and only one is still complete. Didn't even played them, all collapsed while taking out of the box. Maybe they need some special storage...
damn i hope he took a fake one. it does look like it. if not, godamnit i feel so fucking sorry for him. i hope he forgot about it, and it doesnt plague him everyday. fukc man i feel real sorry for this guy! lets all give him a hug!
Admittedly, this DOES look fake, but, luckily for him (on the off-chance it's real), broken cylinders HAVE been restored. But still, he may have damaged it by the way he was holding it.
I believe the proper way to hold a cylinder record is with your index and middle fingers inside it. Even if it didn't break, he's still soiling the grooves from the oils of his fingers.
Is that starbucks coffee? maybe thats why he dropped the cylinder did you see how much his hands were shaking, im glad they dont make cds that brittle lol
This is staged. The reason he's trembling is because he's squeezing it as hard as he can trying to get it to break. Why else would it spontaneously combust? It's nothing but a run of the mill 2-minute black wax cylinder. And no, videogameknowitall, none of the cylinders you find in antique stores, etc., are 'one of a kind'. Edison, Columbia, Lambert, Indestructible, Pathe, and many more companies produced literally millions of cylinders from the dawn of recording (around 1878) to 1929.
I had that happen with me twice!...but it was with 2 45 records...the vinal that they were made of was very brittel so they cracked and crumbeled apart...Good thing it put them onto a tape eariler.

It's real; you could tell how nervous he was being on TV. Looking at his hands during the closeup you could see just how much they were trembling.

It wouldn't be so funny if he didn't hype up how one of a kind and it being the only one in the world just prior to vaporizing it hehe

Why would you want to handle a one of a kind anyway?
Who is this guy anyway? was that his record? what a moron.

Well, think about it-this would happen sooner or later. Look at how roughly he's handling that cylinder!

Was that a wax record? if the wax dried out, that might have cuased it to become brittle.
videogameknowitall 5 years ago
I knew a guy who use to collect those, and accoring to him if you find and old cylender record you can almost asume that it is one of a kind.
