I came here tonight and I am leaving a testimony that, I HAVE BEEN PRECIOUS! Not only could I not see HAPPY, I couldn't see my FACE no place, for a very long time. And I can bear witness that "it took a long time". So in my sojourn, I am asking any sisters out there who can relate to this tragedy, join hands and lend a heart to another sister, even if you differ. Maybe the difference is the need for LOVE! Each one Reach one in order to Be one. We are all the same... Women of a Loving God!
I'm no bitch but watching this scene in the film had my eyes watering. I don't care who you are, theres no way you can't have sympanthy during that certain moment.
@MrGuitargod97 are you stupid? this song starts playing as she walks away with her children. the credits start rolling like a minute later. "NICE TRY THOUGH"
I just saw the movie today on Netflix and what I have to say is, what the hell? Whats gonna happen to her? Whats she gonna do and what about those other girls? Anyways the song was worth listening to at the credits.
Yes this song along with what happened to Precious made me shed a few tears in the end of the movie, beauitiful song and great movie although it was sad and troubling to see, because someone actually did that in real life , how could someone allow that to happen to their child? This is a cruel cruel world we live in.
@msraymond very relevant to life it can be so hard and when u at the point when u have that breakthrough u just look back at where GOD brought u from and be like "Thank U Jesus"
when i look at precious face in this movie, my first impression would be like, omg, black, fat, ugly, annoying... and after i watch the whole movie, i feel so stupid, bad, ignorant, irritating to my self especially the part where precious crying, being rape, treat like an animal, have a new born daughter with HIV, and no one love her even her own mother hate her and that makes me feel sorry.. this song make me even sorry more and more to her.. i guess, i shouldnt judge people by their face..
@MrMADEINBORNEO It's a good thing you took something from the movie. more power to you because believe it or not there are people who have watched this and walked away with nothing...
where comes that power from, to overcome to all that hate, all that terrible and sad life, I whish everybody find that strenght Precious found in herself.
i cried a lot seeing "precious" Her mother is really insane. She has so much hate in her that she can't make difference between what's right or wrong. There are a lot of people like Precious who've experienced this life. I really like this song
What else can I say about turning 40? Well, as usual, I can find a song to describe how I feel. Thanks to Labelle for such a "Precious" tune, and to the genius who thought to put it in the movie.
life is precious. we should be grateful with every single breath we take, and every step we make. thank you Clarice Precious Jones (Gabourey "Gabby" Sidibe) for playing an inspirational role in this movie.
Thank you so much for posting this song. I had not heard it for many years. It brings back memories of my mother. She had this (as we used to call them) Labelle album. I did not live with my mother but I would go visit her sometimes on the weekends. I would listen to this song over and over. RIP Mom.
I was able to go to every Labelle show of 2009.It was the best concerts ive gone too.Aunt Sarah,Aunt Pat and Nona killed it sickly. They are truly the Best the was and ever will be
@RBCHILD4EV I'm an old man--mid 40's--and it is nice to hear that certain younger guys can see beyond the "shakin that azz" mentality. Sex appeal is awesome, and it has always been a part of music, but when nobody over the age of 20 or so can get a recording contract, it means that musical innovation and integrity is dead. Sad. For instance, I happen to think Beyonce has a great voice, but she probably will never get credit for that because she is so pretty.
Mo'Nique Made this Movie So good in the Whole Movie she Did Great. If it wasn't for Mo'nigue Movie Would of been Garbage.I give a lot of credit to Mo'Nique She made this Film as great as it is.Mariah Carey Also a great Roll And the Beauty of this Movie.
This is a brilliant film and worth watching but don't watch it if your looking for laughs .. theres no laughs in this. it's a story of one young womans determanation and strength against some serious issues and over coming them. A powerful movie though and as ressurectionrandy said below, the most powerful scene of all comes at the end when she has fought all the troubles in her life and walks down the street to this song with her babies ... Amazing!!
I cannot get this song out of my head since seeing "Precious". A brilliant use of a song in a film. With this at the ending--along with "For precious girls everywhere" appearing at the fadeout--dry eyes and a stiff upper lip require restraint. Actually, the first time I was more overwhelmed than moved. But I saw it again on an airplane (after a little wine); and it was quite surreal to try to contain myself with all of those people around me. So I suggest that you see it twice.
It took a long time (for) to find this place It took a long time to see happy It took a long time to recognize your face It took a long time running around Nothing good comes easy Nothing makes it fast No one ever made love For it not to last So it took so many, many years to meet Till we came together I was incomplete Yes, I was (Took a long time, long time, took a long time)
seeing Precious walk away with her children and this song playing in the backround really chocked me up. It was a great triumph over devestating adversity.
@resurrectionrandy I would have liked to see a little bit more of how she turned out. I hate movies with abrupt endings like that. But I must say....thats the world we live in.
It's actually the group Labelle--Patti, Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash. You can really hear Nona and Sarah on background. This song came from their 1975 breakthrough album "Nightbirds."
@1990soulman Good man! I think music in the 60's/70's (and some of the 90's) had more of a soul to it. I think there are some very good artists today, but the industry over-produces everything so it's hard to appreciate it. Back in the day, artists were allowed to be creative and innovative--today music is considered pure product aimed at a target audience. Likewise, it is homogenized. Rappers sample older songs for a reason...
I came here tonight and I am leaving a testimony that, I HAVE BEEN PRECIOUS! Not only could I not see HAPPY, I couldn't see my FACE no place, for a very long time.
