women with non-violent convictions (ex. drug possession) should just get house arrest and actulally cook, clean, do laundry, raise kids etc. for their family and watch Oprah, soap operas and talk on the phone to their sisters and woman friends non-stop like they used to. No, that makes too much sense to work.
Yes, I agree! Van Lear Rose was hailed as one of the best records of the decade though. And won a Grammy, however this should be played on country radio!
@BronsonsPapa To bad that more people is familiar with Van Lear Rose why don't you like Loretta Lynn The Queen Of Country Music. If you don't listen to her. And don't put stupid stuff on her calling her music bad.
@clayrains Hell yea its awsome she's been in Country Music for 50 years and had to do some suff to get to the younger generation. And she did it was the Best Album Of The Year And Won Her 4 Grammys. And The Best Album Of The Year. And she's doing 3 new Cd this year that will be out this summer. The Queen Of Country Music Miss Loretta Lynn.
wow im about to go to court tomorrow n i dun know what's gonna happend some dude got stabbed n i was there..my mother is going with tomorrow but i hope i come home i already got bailed out for 5 gs
oh god let me come home...what a beautiful song brings tears to my eye...i hate when ppl judge other without knowing the truth only god can
the part where she said let that murder die,but above from all those voices i can hear my momma cry...i was in court n got taken away when i was just a teen i heard the handcuff and the people but i also heard my mom voice saying i love u n a cried..got tears in my eyes
Not entirely sure what I think about it, I'm not gonna say she's the next Johnny Cash, but who knows? I'll definitley keep my eye on her career, the songs definitly a good one!
Love it! Loretta's mountain sound is like no other. And I love that she brought attention to the female inmates, and how many are in there because they were in abusive relationships and just defended themselves, and should not have been in prison at all.I also LOVE the strong r&r drums at the climax!Great song & message! Thanx so much!!!
I completely agree with you. I think a lot of times we dehumanize the inmates and forget that they're someone's mother or sister or father or brother. They're people too, even if they committed horrible crimes.
It's sad that so many of them do come from abusive relationships or were abused as children. You just never know what you're capable of until you're in a situation that desperate.
I love this song, it's my favorite Loretta song too. Simple, but with different layers of meaning. I think when she sings about "The door to my cell swings open/the door to my cell is open wide" it works as a metaphor for female experience, going through life with a vagina, fear of being raped, punished, etc. This song seems really feminist--I like that she shoots the guy and not the woman he cheated with. The song reminds me of Eileen Warnose too.
I love this song and everything on 'Van Lear Rose'! Loretta is incredible, and I am so glad Jack White recognized her musical genius as well as ability to tackle controversial subjects. He opened a lot of ears and minds to an ageless and unmatched talent. Thank you so much for doing the same thing, Katie!
well i dont think this video or song is COUNTRY, it's even play in a ROCK form(so the younger fan's listen to it) the rock guitar style, her voice is draging, need i say more, dont get me wrong, i love her old music, but at her age, she should stick to her old stuff and be HAPPY. I know i pissed a lot of pepole off, but that is what this form is for, to be honest. Mac
that was an amazing album. loretta rocks and who cares what "genre" it is? is that so important to you? this song is amazing. god bless loretta and jack white
Hee, the funny thing about this is the part of 'she should stick to her old stuff'...it sounds like her old stuff right down to the controversy. Hello, she did 'the Pill' and it caused quite a stir at the time and she was blasted for it, mainly be men of course. And let's not forget 'Don't Home a Drinking with Loving on your Mind', men did't like that one too much either.
Very nicely done! I'm sure that the folks in Loretta's camp will appreciate the creative talent that was invested in this very controversial subject.
Who know's...the power of YouTube might just spark a new interest in this song! We all know that Loretta is no stranger to taboo subjects.
This song is so haunting, I can't stop listening to it. Loretta is my favorite singer, her music is incredible!
