I changed the vintage tuners to locking fender schallers and changed the string guide on the headstock to the nicer fender round barrel type, standard on american models. Now it stays in tune fine.
I've owned the deluxe series mex strat since 97 it's a,real nice sounding guitar with the tbx button you can get a broad range in sound.the only trouble i have is the slotted tuners if you don't take your time and string it right they slip.anybody having any trouble with any humming or snapping just get a noise gate it stops any unwanted noise.I paid $ 580 in 97.All in all nice guitar.
Probably Dave Murray's solo's with a great amp tone, but not Adrian Smith's solos. Different style and axe tone with his playing. thx for the comment.
not sure if i should get one of these because i have my eye on this in blonde but also a classic players 50's strat so im sort of stumped and don't know witch to get.
Ya I didnt like the vintage tuners on it because of the tremolo, so I found some new gold schaller locking ones that they put on the higher end strats. Its hard to find them in gold. Cant get them at the music stores. Got lucky. 110 bucks for them. Also i didnt like the brown pickgaurd. Now I have the 4 ply pearl pickgaurd. Have to drill a hole in it for the small push button in between the volume/tone knobs. That was another 100 beans with install. Its a 1000 axe now
@cryptonet007 Wow, I have the same guitar and also added the pearloid pick guard myself. (did not want to pay for labor) and taped the two pick guards together and used a dremel to make an exact cut for the hole. I like your idea about the Shaller locking (gold) and will be putting them on soon. I have the saphire blue like the one in the video except with a rosewood neck. The pearloid pickguard looks more stock than the ugly tourtise one. It was only $44.00 at Guitar Center incl back plate!
hi i would like to ask something, do that pickups sound like single coil without the hum or they sound more like humbuckers? i want one so badly for live performance, specially rhcp, jimmi, clapton and zeppelin stuff and how does it sound distorted?
Nice 'tar and nice playing. I am try to get a new Strat but I am undecided between the Deluxe Players and the Standard Strat MIM. Did you have the chance to try them both? Somebody describes the noiseless pups as "lifeless". If so, do you think than using 10 gauge string would give the Deluxe a little more power and crunch?
I am personally not seeking a vintage sound but want a guitar that can have some good crunchy distorted sound as well.
Yes Ive tried the mim standard and it has more balls than the deluxe if you choose the h-s-s pickup config model. That humbucker in there is medium to hot and has a great distorted sound. I was going to buy one a year ago, but didnt. Plus its cheaper than the deluxe. I bought the deluxe because I wanted a "strat sounding" guitar for clean stuff. This vid was an experiment with way overdriven sound from the amp.
Yo Monkey, If I can remember correctly I was using the BadKat amp model (dirty) on my Peavey VYPYR 75w and using either the tubescreamer or XR Wild (Zakk Wylde) stompbox effect, preamp, for more gain. Note I was changing the pup config a few times in there, such as neck only, all three pups, bridge+ middle, and bridge only, so the sound does change. Its not great playing but I wanted to let some tones out bad or good. Thx for commenting! Take it easy,
Is it possible to get it without the gold plated features? Looks to over the top for me. But it still sounds awesome!! The look is definitely second to me, so it doesn't really matter, but I still wanna know. thanks
why are people disliking this? nice laying dude im getting one of these!

Well no not this model, but fender makes too many strat models to choose from, so you can get exactly what you want. I like the gold myself......
