its funny how he runs on the balls of his feet, instead of his heels, not needing this kind of shoes.. and them fuckers don´t mentioning it! thats what makes him such a good runner. and it´s easy to learn. nike+? i don´t even use a clock or sth. when i´m running, can´t you guys just listen to your body? and, i am so cool, i even did this speedplay since ever, without knowing it had a name, just for fun.
Fartlek is Swedish, but it is serious running none the less. ;-) It's a from of spontaneous interval training developed for the Swedish track team in 1937, after repeatedly losing to Finland in the 20's, according to Wikipedia. Literally: Fart-lek = speed-play/game. Swed. "Fart" has nothing to do with the English word "fart", but is related to "fare" as in "farewell". For the nerd herd. And this guy is cool.
I love that they have to write what he is saying at the bottom lol, kinda funny to me. I guess it is kinda hard for people who aren't from Africa to understand us. Paul is a great inspiration to all of us here at home!!
cool. i don't know why, but every time i run, i feel a burst of happiness and inspiration come from within once it's all over and i've felt the triumph of reaching the end of my run. the place i live i can't run often, but where i'm going the streets are organized and safe. when i get there i'm gonna run harder than here; where i can only run for around half an hour everyday. go runners who run for the smile!
anyone know what kind of shirt he is wearing, i really would like to buy one like that where i can put my ipod in it, msg me if u know anything plzzz. thank you
@SawViking He's trying to make it so that it's something OTHER people could do. If it was HIS interval time, then he'd be running under 2:30 per kilometer. Just sayin!
I think that is very valid what you are saying, but would you agree it is quite inconsistent with the other video? When he talks about long runs, and they should be "easy", and the pace was 3:20? Seems to me they only have two signs. one 5:30 and one 3:20.
Anyways, it would be fun to see him do intervals. That would just blow me away. probably lose confidence as well
I rate Paul with Geb and Kenenisa as amongst the greatest distance runners of all time. I thought he would win marathon gold in Athens. The heat got him and Baldini was too good.
that´s what fartlek was meant for... search for fartlek training methods, it gives you speed, and muscle volume... its good to combine fartlek training (repetitions) with long trainings
kenya elite runners like tergat are more than happy to train with anyone, they don;t reject you becasue you are a nobody. i used to train with tergat and many many world class runners in Ngong outside nairobi. they advice you and help you in anyway they can. they take care of you like brother or sister. when you are around this guys you forget that they are world class. they make you feel comfortable and they rarely talk about their achievements. wonderful people to be around
that's right, I used to be in very good shape and had no problem running with a friend who only could manage 10 min miles, I just hung out and made it my easy day. But I knew others who wouldn't give him the time of day. Not very respectful. One can always train hard any time they want, friendships mean more than a silly run.
tergat i have known you for along time men, think about coming out with the clothing desigh coz i live here in USA people know kenya coz of the best runners in the world. One time my friends want some gift always buy them kenya t shirts,

I just love watching these guys, they're super class athletes.
I will never buy into the crap these Corporation bribe them to advertise.
It has been scientifically that people run best on barefoot!
These guys are humble runners, they became World Class through effort, not through iphones or the latest running shoes.
Please look up Born to Run by Christopher McDougall on TEDtalks etc.

yeah, he's using 3'20 as "not so fast, steady pace" in another ad, but here I think he cares more about us poor people ;-P
