@imajeepster ,dude! I'm a Jeepster too!! Who gnew there were more than one of us. I am Peter from Canada, Victoria. T Rex was it for cutting edge slam/glam. i love to boggie is my fav,.. but there are so many,..say hi if you have a sec and the inclination,..I am an old audiophile,..many bootlegs and such,...
I really want to find "Brothers of the Universe" - that one was my favourite and it's damn impossible to find now. Please, if ANYONE reads this comment and can help me get a copy - I'd be forever greatful. PLEASE MESSAGE ME! Thanks!
Great sound, great group. I saw them in '71 at the Western Fair in London. Canadian Bandstand was broadcasting live from the fair and the Stampeders were playing.
I wonder if in the future sometime music will get to sound like this again, instead of the crap recorded today. Thanks Stampeders for a great song and memories of summer 73.
I carried that doubleneck at 00:22 when I worked as a roadie back in the 70s for any bands that came through the area. Richard Dodson climbed out of a van and handed it to me and said, "take care of it son". I stood there amazed then he turned quickly and said, "you ARE working as a roadie for us aren't you? Cuz I don't want to think I just handed my one of my guitars to a fan." All I could think of to say was I'm workin' I'm workin', but I'm a fan too! LOL
I heard Kim sing this song a couple of summers ago, and he sounded just the same as he does in this recording. Yeah, I would go to see them again for sure.
the 70s were my fav' seen these guys in Barrie a few yrs ago,..still great and I can still get up and rock and roll to there tunes goes to show how great music can make u jump....
Holy....forgot all about this tune.....brings back some great memories! We left Montreal during the FLQ, travelled south into the U.S.....and can remember this on the AM radio in the 67 volkswagon...lol....Thanks for posting it.....wow.......i'm smilin hardcore now.
Great song... saw them do it live in 75 I think....Edmonton....Jubilee Auditorium....excellent show....the knee high boots were a little gay though LOL...
Rich Dodson, Ronnie king, and Kim Berly. They were ranked Canada's second best band of the era only because of the Guess Who's success. I say they were equal.
I was about 10 years old and I was the bat boy for my brothers Fastball team and I vividly remember traveling all over Ontario with the team for tournaments, etc and the sound of this great Canadian band was always on the radio or 8 track player. Great songs that bring back wonderful childhood memories. Thanx so much for posting this.
One of the greatest songs of all time! I just wish they would have had this at the Karaoke Box in Tokyo when I was living in Japan in 1996. Love this song!!
Islandchik ain't kidding, these guys are absolutly fantastic. there not some old burnt out group . get your a_s out to see them . they are so _ucking good it's unbelevable. hay guys come back to edmonton again soon please!
I have been listening to The Stampeders since the 70's; my husband and I just saw them live a few days ago at the Annapolis Valley Exhibition. They were fantastic and I thought they sounded as good, if not better, than they did 30 some years ago. Keep going guys!
My dad and mom saw these guys live in the Ian Tyson show back in 1971 or 72 when ot was taped at the CTV studios in Toronto. I can only Imagine how great seeing these guys in thier prime was. Nice to find posts like this. Thanks
simply one of, if not my all time favorite...everytime i hear this song, especially that violin at 38 secs and on.....just a certain longing, sadness, emotion in that split second that pulls me back to this tune.
It was back in 72' I was the bass guitarist for Fats Domino. We played opposite shows with the Stampeders here in Reno at Harrah's Casino. They were such nice guys except for when Ronnie King ( their bass player ) played a terrible joke on me concerning a blown up amplifier!!..LOL! No, I don't think the drummer ( Kim ) is Native.
My husband and I use to listen to the Stampeders on 8-track driving in his car when we were dating in 73. LOTS of memories,Got a chance to see them 3 years ago in Hamilton,On. They sounded the same as they did then, even better.Fantastic for 3 guys in their 60's.Love to see them again.Thank U anippygirl!
Thank you so much for posting this!! I had this song appear in my dream the night before last.. I stopped and said to myself "I'm DREAMING and this is what I get!" i was scared I'd forget it in the am, but the song stayed with me. This song was one of my favourites when I was young. Need to go get a few Stampeders albums.
Well I remember these guys from Calgary visiting our city in the 70's. In fact the drummer, Kim Berly used to date the girl next door from my girlfriend. He visited quite a few times over the years. We met him a few times.

@rotten510 They (Stamps) are probably mildly underrated, they were a very commercial group, but a good
band, probably at the very top of the second tier of Canadian bands, maybe 8th or 9th all-time among Canuck
rock groups.
