  • Yes Yes Yes. Absolutely beautiful.

  • Lesjack....I worked for Quality Records in Scarborough, ON when they were still making 8-tracks.

  • Don't know much about The Stampeders but they sound great.

  • @jazz930 If you like em and wanna check out more go on their web site, you can listen to their music, full music collection is available. Every album they made is on the site.

  • @imajeepster ,dude! I'm a Jeepster too!! Who gnew there were more than one of us. I am Peter from Canada, Victoria. T Rex was it for cutting edge slam/glam. i love to boggie is my fav,.. but there are so many,..say hi if you have a sec and the inclination,..I am an old audiophile,..many bootlegs and such,...

Great tune. I saw Ronnie in the 80's playing at Dickens Pub before they got back together. It was neat to see them on TV reuniting a while later.

  • I'm sitting here in Singapore - yup, halfway around the world from Canada. Man, do I miss it. The Stampeders ROCK!

  • Canadian,,,,,,,,,,, the best,,,

  • Songs like this make it easier to go on you've been cursed.

  • This is one of the hardest songs to find by the Stampeders, but it's worth it, thank you for posting it!

  • Great sound, great group. I saw them in '71 at the Western Fair in London. Canadian Bandstand was broadcasting live from the fair and the Stampeders were playing.

  • I wonder if in the future sometime music will get to sound like this again, instead of the crap recorded today. Thanks Stampeders for a great song and memories of summer 73.

  • ucan here in his voice of gordon lightfoot true canadian :)

  • ahhh .... thanks for the upload... excellent tune from a great canadian classic rock band... so many songs they got that I never knew they sang

  • thanks

  • over the years theese songs are still very good im surprised that no one covered them they could very well be hits again

  • @rotten510 They (Stamps) are probably mildly underrated, they were a very commercial group, but a good

band, probably at the very top of the second tier of Canadian bands, maybe 8th or 9th all-time among Canuck

    rock groups.

  • I carried that doubleneck at 00:22 when I worked as a roadie back in the 70s for any bands that came through the area. Richard Dodson climbed out of a van and handed it to me and said, "take care of it son". I stood there amazed then he turned quickly and said, "you ARE working as a roadie for us aren't you? Cuz I don't want to think I just handed my one of my guitars to a fan." All I could think of to say was I'm workin' I'm workin', but I'm a fan too! LOL

  • I heard Kim sing this song a couple of summers ago, and he sounded just the same as he does in this recording. Yeah, I would go to see them again for sure.

  • the 70s were my fav' seen these guys in Barrie a few yrs ago,..still great and I can still get up and rock and roll to there tunes goes to show how great music can make u jump....

  • Haven't heard this one in a long time. It's great....thanks for posting.

  • They're coming to Sydney, Nova Scotia for the Rock the Dock Days soon! I don't think I could miss them! They're too amazing.. God I love them!!!!!

  • Holy....forgot all about this tune.....brings back some great memories! We left Montreal during the FLQ, travelled south into the U.S.....and can remember this on the AM radio in the 67 volkswagon...lol....Thanks for posting it.....wow.......i'm smilin hardcore now.

  • Thanks 4 posting anippygirl....really takes me back to better days.

  • Great song... saw them do it live in 75 I think....Edmonton....Jubilee Auditorium....excellent show....the knee high boots were a little gay though LOL...

  • Is that Susan Day?

  • @photoeng1 Yes that is Susan Dey

  • @photoeng1 Yes that is Susan Dey....She was a guest (girlfriend?)

  • I'm back again to listen to my favorite Stampedres song. Ear candy!

  • This was always my favourite Stampeders track. This song was even "honoured" by an appearance on a Ktel compilation.

Wow, Susan Dey, Jim Lange of The Dating Game, and Wolfman Jack.

That is an amazing coincidence. Weren't they voted the 3 Most Significant Americans of the 1970s?

  • Rich Dodson, Ronnie king, and Kim Berly. They were ranked Canada's second best band of the era only because of the Guess Who's success. I say they were equal.

  • love your music nippy!

  • I was about 10 years old and I was the bat boy for my brothers Fastball team and I vividly remember traveling all over Ontario with the team for tournaments, etc and the sound of this great Canadian band was always on the radio or 8 track player. Great songs that bring back wonderful childhood memories. Thanx so much for posting this.

  • I have been listening to The Stampeders since the 70's; my husband and I just saw them live a few days ago at the Annapolis Valley Exhibition. They were fantastic and I thought they sounded as good, if not better, than they did 30 some years ago. Keep going guys!

  • My dad and mom saw these guys live in the Ian Tyson show back in 1971 or 72 when ot was taped at the CTV studios in Toronto. I can only Imagine how great seeing these guys in thier prime was. Nice to find posts like this. Thanks

  • The Stampeders are doing a free concert in Downtown Edmonton on July 18, 2009

  • simply one of, if not my all time favorite...everytime i hear this song, especially that violin at 38 secs and on.....just a certain longing, sadness, emotion in that split second that pulls me back to this tune.

  • this is a beautiful song, and that guitar solo is fantastic, someone needs to put this song back on the radio.

  • the drummer is he native any1 know?

  • It was back in 72' I was the bass guitarist for Fats Domino. We played opposite shows with the Stampeders here in Reno at Harrah's Casino. They were such nice guys except for when Ronnie King ( their bass player ) played a terrible joke on me concerning a blown up amplifier!!..LOL! No, I don't think the drummer ( Kim ) is Native.

  • An amazing song.

  • My husband and I use to listen to the Stampeders on 8-track driving in his car when we were dating in 73. LOTS of memories,Got a chance to see them 3 years ago in Hamilton,On. They sounded the same as they did then, even better.Fantastic for 3 guys in their 60's.Love to see them again.Thank U anippygirl!

  • One of the best ballads ever by a Canadian band.

  • Thanks phonedoug!

  • Well I remember these guys from Calgary visiting our city in the 70's. In fact the drummer, Kim Berly used to date the girl next door from my girlfriend. He visited quite a few times over the years. We met him a few times.

    xox

    Tripletabugirl

  • EB's song is posted...unless I've missed the irony here.

Didn't realize that there was a long version of Gypsy. I always thought it was the usual 3 min version that they play on radio. The lead singer's voice is appropriately deep for a song about loneliness and the night. It resonates on so many levels....

  • Thanks calvintoronto!

  • Lol it's already posted and saved in my faves ages ago! Love edward bear tunes as well! You are most welcome,, thanks for the request! Glad I could put it togeather for ya!
