I'm glad to find a caramel corn recipe that doesn't use corn syrup. I look forward to trying this recipe out, but I think I'll be adding some peanuts too.
Question for those who have already tried this recipe, how and for how long should it be stored if made in advance?
Just made it. The caramel tastes a little like peanut brittle in consistency. I would suggest not letting it brown as long as she has it and add maybe a teaspoon of vanilla and an extra tablespoon of butter. Over all, excellent recipe and very, VERY easy to follow instructions.
@2hatelibs1 We know its pronounced carmel on NOT caromel ,but people from different place might mispronounce it maybe it's not even where you come from it might be how you were bought up to say.that's all.
@TheKankertiefes no its actually they eat fat, ie bacon, after they cook bacon, they use the left over fat to make gravy, then drink it, same for turkey, and for things that does not contain fat, they drink 2 cups of fat from a cow to make up for it, true story
@esmeraldakitty ....You don't need to know the temperature. I've made this heaps of times by doing exactly what she did in the video and it works great every time. Very tasty and by far the best caramel popcorn recipe/video I've found yet. Just follow what she does and you can't go wrong. The only thing I do is buy the bags of microwave popcorn and use two bags for this recipe.
hahaa omg when attempted to make this i left the kitchen for 2 seconds and when i come back the caramel exploded everywhere! i never knew that the baking soda needed to be put after the caramel was ready! thumbs up for not being a good listener ;)
A good idea to mix this bowl of hot molten caramel is to place a donut shaped towel underneath this bowl. Roll the towel into a twist and wrap it under the bowl. Keep it from rolling of the counter top.
i made it today and its great, a few pieces for everyone is enough, because its very sweet, but very good :D i love caramel popcorn...in kitchen there is a little messy, but nothing so bad :P
I just made it for 4 pm snack and i am in love with it. thanks a lot girl. I was carving for it and every time i had to go to malls for it. I've got sweet tooth. ;)
hi, im from one of the third world countries and i have no problem at all on finding corn syrup whether they are imported from USA or locally made in supermarkets here. lol
@angiepicturethis hey if you're looking for a corn syrup substitute, use glucose paste :D It's exactly the same, and it looks like a super thick clear liquid, you can get it in the baking section. Ok? Enjoy :)
Just tried this.....the bicarb makes it taste like crap.... Don't add it...just ad the caramel to the popcorn and to help get the sugar all over the popcorn put it in the oven on 200 and stir every 10 mins
tnxx a lot!!!! i've made a perfect caramel popcorn!!.. a warning to you guyzz,, if you are to put a salted butter, u don't need to put a salt in the pan while cooking the caramel..
