  • We know why you fly!!

  • arent you guys broke?

  • @saweet999 yes they are... i think they might go out of buisness also i heard

  • i love the AA 737, i went to San juan this year and i asked the flight crew to show me the flight deck and it was awesome with the new HUD

  • light test ON!

    nice video....

  • Hello Captain Jim Thomas,

I bought the PMDG 737NGX. The airplane is for FSX, and seems to be incredibly realistic as far as the plane's systems are concerned. It would be awsome if you would try it, and let us aviation enthusiasts know how it compares to the real thing. Hope you have a great time flying this great airplane! :) Keep up the great work American Airlines!!!

  • Airbus sucks compared to this but airbus sucked in the first place

  • AH, still haven't put the IRS switches to align :)

  • @Appleshaz yes. PMDG has the best addons. I download checklist for B747 from Boeing site and I start PMDG 747 with this checklist.

  • Are they replacing all the super 80s?

  • The controls look like they were made in the '60s

  • How about more tours of your planes?

  • i really hope i can fly for AA in the future :)

  • Haha, being an American airline, I was half expecting it to start going ''DING... DING... DING...'' If he touched the throttle controls.. lol

  • Do not seek employment with American Airlines as a pilot. I have many pilots that work for American living in my neighborhood and they all HATE American. The Southwest pilots, on the other hand, love their airline. Try to get hired at Southwest if you can.

  • I'm glad AA is divesting itself of the MD's in it's fleet. MD could never compare with Boeing.

  • @viking1960 the md planes are owned by boeing....

  • @FsxCaptainLukas I realize that after the buyout, but I meant in terms of a quality aircraft. I always thought Boeing was better than MD.

  • @viking1960 I agree with you, but i think the MD aircraft look better. The 737 is a bit boring. MD´s are bad ass!

  • 737's have had takeoff config warnings for decades. Im not sure if their was just a sound that the aircraft made or if there were both a light and a sound, but takeoff config warnings are nothing new.

  • God i can't wait to fly the 737, mainly cause it's my dream to fly one, but also cause these CRJ are just so damn cramped.

  • I jut wish American had something like United's Economy Plus. The regular coach pitch is too small.

  • hey that is a nice .....the heads up display, waauw!

  • i feel this shit and i can assure you it is very old design

boeing fooled the world with 50's technology by calling it NG ( new generation )

it is typically the same as the old 737-100 except for the glass cockpit

  • That's great. Where's the EFB on those new 737s? Surely American's pilots aren't still carrying jepp books around in kit bags like its' 1977.............are they?

  • Go AA! I LOVE THE 737-800's. Best Plane EVER (except for the 747, that's my #1 favorite)

will you guys get a 747?

  • The takeoff configuration horn and cabin altitude horn are no different to the classics, but have since been updated to differentiate the two (red mcp) more clearly in the event that the horn confuses the crew into thinking it is an error. The CA horn will sound if the crew descend before reaching their flight level, or cabin altitude problems. T/O configuration horn, flaps, parking brake, spoilers, trim, etc all iincorrectly configured, this is particularly important (spanair madrid accident).

  • i prefer boeing philosophy then airbus.

id just like the idea the pilot has full controls of the aircraft

then being restricted by the flight computer

besides why would an airline pilot

do a barrel roll with passengers at the back?

besides if the pilot does do a barrel roll fire the bugger don t restirct the flight controls!

  • Dear American, I heard that you only hire Air Force pilots. Is this true? Because I don't want to join the air force but yet I want to fly in an airline.

  • @FLIGHTCOMPANY that's definitely not true... get an education and if the airline is hiring then you will have your chance...

  • @FLIGHTCOMPANY Not true. Then again they have not hired in about a decade either but when they were hiring pilots came both from civilian and military backgrounds.

  • Even though I still prefer the A320, this 737 seems to have some sweet upgrades.

  • So is this going to replace all those ancient MD-80's?

  • My experience with simulators is if you want to have lots of fun, have Flight Simulator 2004 or X. I fly X-Plane for more of a real flight. I like having the most realistic Flight, with all the panels, my favorite being the MCDU. I also like the option of being lined up to a runway. I can land in various situations. (Weather or Plane Failure).. I like both, but have a MAC so I have X-plane, I'm not downing FSX, but my opinion is that X-plane is more reallistic, It wasn't wasy @ first though.

  • Are you able to fly if you are red/green color blind?

  • @Soulless795 That depends on the severity of your colorblindness. If you can pass a special test with an aviation medical examiner, then you can get an aviation medical certificate. Go to the message forums at the Jetcareers website and search the topic for details.

  • @Av8trxx Thank you mate :) I will search this further. I do hope I will pass because this is my big dream :)

  • AA = Crash xD

  • I hate packing 800's, they're a pain in the ass.

  • I want to be like you one day Jim, thanks for this video, my favorite airplane of all (737-823)

  • If u are a pilot message me please?

  • Are there any pilots here that kind of help me? I want too be an airline pilot but I don't know where to start please help?

  • @Bikerboy1750 PPL ;)

  • @Bikerboy1750 The faster and cheaper way is by the air force, otherwise you must go to any private aviation school, they are usually by all airports, you have to start with the private pilot license, then you have to accumulate hours of flying, then get the two engine license, and then go on and on.

  • @amfeelgood The A.F. isn't a 'faster' route to meet airline hiring minimums, especially with the increased commitment times and fewer pilot slots available compared to years past. Don't think of trying to become an AF pilot just to fly for an airline one day. Do it if you want to serve your country. It really isn't cheaper (free flight training) as you pay with your commitment and live their lifestyle. You could also get killed in the line of duty.

  • @Av8trxx Do it the way you want. But 95% of airliner pilot are coming from the Air Force. Airliner company hire you easily coming from AF, they don't like pilot from private school, is not the same, don't believe me, find out for your self. Because you enroll to AF to be a pilot, that doesn't mean that you are going to fly fighter jets. Ask any pilot what is the faster way. Remember you sign a contract with AF after that you don't have serve them.

  • @amfeelgood 95% of airline pilots came from the Air Force? ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE TODAY. It is a misconception left from the 60's, 70's & 80's when the overwhelming majority had military experience. Since the late 90's 65%+ (the rend was increasing) of major airline new hires have been from a civilian background for the reasons I stated above. Source Air Inc. What is your statistical source? I also don't need to "find out for myself" as I am currently an airline pilot.

  • @Av8trxx My friend, I'm sorry I disagree with you, I know two persons very close to me that are pilots, one is my wife cousin and the other one is my cousin's husband, the first one is an Airbus 320 captain in USA3000 airlines, came from the Air Force and the second one is a boeing 737 pilot from a private school, but have not job and used to fly for Aeromar Airlines, do you see the difference?, don't get mad of me, I tell you this by experience, Airliners prefer pilots from military.

  • Comment removed

  • @amfeelgood The difference? Is that is one source is measurable and one is not. Your example is NOT representative of the current trend in airline hiring in the USA- esp when citing a Mexican airline- and your opinion is NOT a verifiable statistical source, so you spread misinformation.

"Roughly 28% of pilots hired by major U.S. carriers in 2008 had military backgrounds, compared to around 90% in 1992"

    - 1/6/2009 USA Today newspaper article 'As pilots age, airlines hire fewer from military'

  • @Av8trxx OK mister wiseman, whatever you say.

  • whats the range of the 737-800 non-winglet? all i know is the range og 737-800 winglet is 3000NM+ and the winglet version flies farther right? can anybody answer my qestin? thanx!

  • hey, im flying a 737 on american on the second leg of a LGA-PTY trip, i wanna know, is a 1 hour and 25 minute connection time enough time to be able to make the connection in miami? any helpful responses would be appreciated =)

  • I can't wait to fly for American one day. They are simply the greatest airline around.

  • this may sound gay but, that cockpit with all the instruments looks so nice i could eat it

  • virgin blue 737-800 best flight iv had so far

  • @LyndxD I went from melbourne to perth...Very smooth!!

  • which button fires the machine guns?

  • this guys is cool as shit !

  • hello jim

    do you remember me?

    hi!

  • I commend American for buying Boeing.........but will miss seeing the Mad Dogs.

  • American Airlines is fine. nothing severly wrong with it. its good enough, i just wish the exterior paint wasn't chrome, idk y but it makes the planes look cheap and junky and easy to break apart.

but they're OK, better then United and airTran. SW still beats them regionally.

i like British Airways better too :P

  • They Rule The Toilet Stools ... You Duche !

  • American Airlines .. Sucks Ass Period !

  • You suck, prick. American Airlines RULES!

  • Hey dat was da captain of my flight from

    DCA to MIA.. cool

  • No one will believe me when I say this but.. I was looking for a fork in my pantry and I came across this cute little fork that I'd never seen. On it was engraved "AA". I've never flown in anything above Economy on American... Amazing they let you keep a metal fork... But bow they don't give u food at all!

  • Jim Thomas hi!

tell me if microsolf fly simulator and a real

    boeing 737 are the same?

if a person with FSX skill can fly a real 737?

  • not the default one. it's really unreaslistic. If you buy the PMDG 737 addon for FS9, or the one that is coming out for FSX, you will be on your way...

  • yer pretty much. They have jut reduced the workload

  • Ive heard that its easier to fly a real aircraft then on fs.....but i wouldnt go if u control the plane anyways..lol

  • A real plane is a bit different from FSX. We don't disagree that FSX is a lot of fun. Have you tried X-plane?

  • jim thomas

    x-plane? ok,I'll find one.

i like to fly pc fly simulator all moment.

jim do you fly to caribbean? i want to know more about planes.

tell me a good fly school.

    jim thomas hi!!!

  • Well, you can get addon planes that are more realistic and simulate all most all the systems in a real plane.

  • @americanairlines I have tried X-Plane.

  • @americanairlines do you have the the ifly 737 for FSX or the PMDG, try one of thoes , because the FSX version have a GPS and thats super unreal

  • Hello! SB9P4! I've read your post, and I know that you posted it 3 months ago, but I would like to answer it. No! A real plane is nothing like FSX. I just started my PPL and flying a real Cessna 172 is way different than flying FSX. I mean it's realistic, for real pilots. For those who haven't ever flown (I don't mean you have flown as a passenger, because it's like you were on a bus), can't compare! If you want to fly a 737 you have to built up the rutine. You can't just fly it. Thx

  • gygergely,ok, thank

ok,i know. i love planes. you are a real pilot,i am a fans of planes.yes,i want to fly a big plane in the future.but now only i can say"God help me"

  • Help yourself and God will help you! Find a local instructor, find out how much the course cost. It's only up to you. I thought PPL was impossible for me, because we really aren't a ritch family, but I found out, that there are good courses for reasonable prices. Most people say I started too young, but hey! If your destiny is to fly, then fullfill it : )

  • We agree, if flying is your destiny and your passion, follow it. You can accomplish anything if you have passion for the air! Good luck and start studying!

  • @americanairlines ohh man that was a good one! Have you ever watched the BAck to the Future movies? It's like Marty used to say: " If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!". Don't you think so?

  • @GyGergely I just checked it in my area, it's around 5.000 U$D...Ain't cheap.

  • @GyGergely - :D thanks for that :)

  • hello gygergely,

    do you remember me?

  • Yes :) After re-reading the comments. Sorry for the late answer.

  • @SB9P4 Well I guess If you fly with a PMDG 737 or a Ariane 737 you may can ;-)

  • @SB9P4 I see this comment is very old, but FSX doesnt provide the effects that flight has on the body. The higher quality aircraft can more accurately simulate the avionics and such, but the flight dynamics are often very off.

  • @SB9P4 Try iFly 737-800 NG for FSX :)

  • NICE SUIT

  • Touchy buttons :O

  • Who is Hadji,? listen i dont want to flight with anybody you know i dont want to flight by American Airlines due that th racism fellings i lived with one of their worker.

  • So many buttons to press!!!

  • sexy plane

  • thats awsome but they are getting rid of the 200 or so md-80 they have. thats going to take awhile.

  • American Airlines is a very racist my experiencie of flighting in airlines was horrible, the flight attendantes were very unfriendly, rude specially white crew of flight attendant. Is very sad that still in USA has had this kind of problem for a very long time. The true is i fell so sad for the future Hispanic people passagers that still believe in the magnanimus American airline services. Thank God Im living so far away of the USA hell.

  • They are not racist they were the first airline to Hire a black flight attendant.

  • maybe because they couldn't understand you're stupid ass

  • i dont like to write to foolish ignorant like you ,

enjoy your drug drug addict fuck you american.

  • lol, ok Hadji

  • NO.

  • Dosen't all commercial a/c have the T/O-systemet?

  • i like airplanes

  • smat..best boeing 737-800

  • DELTA GOT THERES FIRST!, HA!

  • How's it feel to go bankrupt? Ha Ha Ha!

  • gosh i hate delta...

i like the old delta though

  • American got wingleted 767-300's first! HA!

American is getting moded LCD screens for their 757's first! HA!

I do like Delta though, just had to do that, lol.

  • I've used a HUD in the sim, but my company doesn't have them fitted to our 737 800's....very cool though..

  • HUD's are very good!

  • AA is doing a fine job keeping their fleet all Boeing. Its nice to see a domestic airlne keep a domestic aircraft, unlike other airlines who opt for the European Airbus. The MD-80's however, will be greatly missed. Such a quiet and comfortable plane, its a shame to get rid of them.

  • @richrichieman The MD-80 is a piece of shit lol.

  • @Gamebreaker08

think you mean a peice of gold!!!

    lol

  • @Gamebreaker08 Hahaha, The MD-80 is awesome! You Bag of Douche lol jk

  • @richrichieman American airlines do have airbus i think is the A300 or A310

  • @richrichieman MD-80 quiet?? I'll miss them too but it's the sound of the engines. The Mad Dog is the loudest plane in the US skies these days.

  • @anacrobat89 I think you might be forgetting about the 727

  • @JJ388JAr Know what you mean, the Boeing 727 was the loudest but it's very rarely seen in the US skies these days. Airlines retired them so I've only seen them for cargo.

  • Wow, the MD80 I fly had the Takeoff warning and cabin altitude warning back in the -80's. Not only that, Mrs. Betty would specifically tell you what was wrong. Flaps, Slats, Stabilizer, Spoilers, Brakes. Also Cabin Altitude and Landing gear.

    No HUD though ;-).......nice 'pit.

  • Cool! One Question, will they change the Flight Deck on the old 737-800's when they come in to Tulsa for C/D Checks?

  • True. I have seem two from the right seat. Works well!

  • Good enhancements! I heard that with HUD equiped, you can make a CAT3 landing without using the AP, just following the FD, is that true?
