  • I was at the recording of this, invited, along with a load of mates, by the band themselves at a gig the previous night at Northampton Roadmender! You can see the back of my bonce at 36 seconds in.

  • How big is Richard's mouth?

  • its possible to like longpigs and arctic monkeys ya kno...

  • I remember watching this, a few days away from my 14th birthday! I adored the LongPigs and made a LongPigs clock in Year 9 technology, haha! Really fancied Crispin 'Spin' Hunt, as well... xD

  • Love, Love, Love this album, played it to death and still do today.... i was totally gob smacked when someone pointed out that Richard Hawley used to but in Longpigs and what do you know, there he is! thanks for the upload! :D

  • my come down song after blinding nights out in the 90's thanks for the memories. x

  • I love this band so much. Saw them live, too.

  • I forgot how much of a great band the Longpigs were. Amazing.

  • I had just had my 8th birthday when this was filmed, Im now 22 and I adore The Longpigs :)

  • Tell your lecturer they should reform-a massively underated, amazin band -the second album is one of the best of all time

  • the bass players now one of my uni lecturers

  • Tragically underrated band. They were sublime.

  • i love the Longpigs!! :D

  • i was 12 when this was aired, only feels like yesterday

  • hawley is god!

  • It was a second appearance on TFI I think they played blue skies and ended the show with the frank sonata over the credits. Buggered if i can find it anywhere, I know it exists coz i wore the tape out

  • Re-downloaded their albums after having them and lost them in the past and WOW what great songs they had. Tfi Friday also a legendary show, so much better than Ross or Norton of today. Longpigs have the songs to be around today, top tracks!!

  • First heard this song on an early pre-release Radio 1 live session with Steve Lamaque- it was a performance that matched any I've ever heard, as powerful as Nirvana with beautiful dynamics

  • If the world was blessed with bright people, this band would still be. ......Wonderful stuff.

  • Supported these a few times, way back in the day and the drummer is a blade. Happy days!

  • @bassthing26 aye, lived next door to dee last year. f'king legend

  • Richard Hawley actually hasn't changed that much appearancewise

  • who is the bassist??

  • @rattleandhumgirl The bass player is Simon Stafford

  • What incredbile songcraft!!! im in awe!!

  • Awesome band - gotta love the 'pigs!

  • HAHAHA look at Richard Hawley. I never knew these guys first time round but they do sound incredible. I do wish they'd let Hawley sing though! :)

  • It is such a tragedy this band does not exist anymore. They had such great songs. both albums are gems. Like a lovechild between Jeff Buckley and early radiohead...super talent

  • TFI What a show.!!!!

  • A young Richard Hawley on guitar.

  • spot on Shingster88

    think i was happy then

    clocked em supporting the cranberries

    class act

the track you play to an ex

  • "To live by myself I'm far too weak

I have lost myself I cannot sleep"

    Sure bring back memories...

  • i want to go back to these times ! the world was good at this !

  • Awesome song.

  • Totally agree, on and on is another classic. TFI Friday had some great years during the indie period. Hearing this song reminds me of all the Shine compilations i've got, remember those ?

  • That is mad, yeah thats what reminded me too, ive got this on shine 7 i think? Shed sevens Chasing rainbows is on there too, great times!

  • its amazing how friggin influential the pixes are

  • I can hear it...

This song still rocks though, no doubt about it.

  • Longpigs = Sun Is Often Out = Quality Album!

  • long pork = slang for human flesh

  • true, why are people giving you the thumbs down haha

  • thanks for that usless info

  • luv this rock!

  • i agree with psj3809

  • I loved these years, great indie bands on TFI Friday/Top of the pops. Great compilation albums - Shine. TFI Friday was superb back in the day, ideal viewing for having a few drinks before then going out. Went downhill once Evans got Boyzone/Spice Girls and other crap on the show (He used to slate all these pop groups before). When they had indie bands on every week it was great

  • Richard Hawley is a massively underated guitarist. He's bloody great!!

The Longpigs are a massiely underrated bad. Thay're bloody great!!!

  • agree, agree!

  • @crash669 he is a genius songwriter too

  • It's a shame trendy bands like the Arctic Monkeys give the Sheffield rock scene a bad name because ten years before that particular act made its debut the Longpigs produced a great pop-rock album far superior to anything the Monkeys will ever put their name to.

  • greatest sheffield band of alltime! mobileshome heavenly

  • Well said up the longons - 'cupntin hrs' needs to get back out there and sing a few more bloody brilliant songs I say so I do very much so I say so soon.

Crispin made his songs impossible to sing at karaouke (unless you've gat a ferret stuck up your bottom)

Lingpogs rule man - utd and weds join in arms... praise be praise be.

Dont ever stop at the park inn though (sunday bitches lock yo outta room if you take up the late breaky)

  • hear hear lol. see ya int park mine a double vodders and coke!

  • I love all the Longpigs songs and it takes me back listening to this. Shame they didnt stick around for longer. Great memories!

  • I still have their albums. Great.

  • Fantastic track. I remember this show going out.

  • I was here at TFI friday, I loved them. Was only young so unfortunately couldn't get a pass to the bar. Nice to know people still paying interest in them. He signed an autograph for me but i lost it. Damn!!!

  • what a awesome song, i was really young when it first came out but ive always remembered it. got some beautiful lyrics, its just immense.

i will check out richard hawley solo stuff as well. thanks for the tip.

thanks for posting the vid. i miss tfi friday, just dont get tv like that anymore =[

  • that's because women govern what gets put on tv now. they're all the big shots in the tv companies. haven't you noticed? that's why we get loads of reality tv and endless shows about houses, food and relationships. the BBC are the worst culprits. so much for consultation and social inclusion! ha! men have been watching less and less tv for the last five years...

  • i cant say i have noticed as im one of these blokes you pointed out who barely watches tv, as its generally shit lol and i wouldnt be surprised that ur reasons are right. whos idea was it to let women vote? everything has gone down hill since then ;) lol

  • I miss Britpop

    I miss music like this

    I love the Longpigs

  • Richard HAwley is the Best! his solo Albums are Brilliant!!

  • I agree!

  • such a great album man!! class!

  • Love it, fecking love it, goosebumps

  • Wow. Richard Hawley. Hasn't changed much, has he?

  • does anyone know the chord sequence for between verse lines? ie 1.18 --> 1/21? If you do, please share.:)the only tabs I can find for this song seem to leave that bit out.

  • thanks so much for this!! i loved this song as soon as i heard it all those years ago! and its been so long, still listen to it and still love it a very big two thumbs up

  • underrated and much missed. Thanks for sharing!

  • A young looking Richard Hawley...brill.

  • He's still young! :)

  • Excellent, miss these guys, I remember seeing them back in 1996, wow, 11 years, scary hey. if only they could have gone on and on and on ...:)

  • whoever posted this, cheers. tune! these guys pissed on bluroasis

  • I was at a Longpigs gig in liverpool, they were supported by Travis and Embrace

  • Why only two albums...come back Longpigs....we love you

  • Thanks for uploading this!:)

  • yay! the longpigs! my favourite band EVER!!!!

  • what a band seriously under-rated makes a mockery of most indie bands today...and i aint kidding

  • The big head seen first 00:36 facing the lead singer is mine! :p

  • Class!! Can't believe what an underrated band they were/are!!

  • go on Griffin1892 and the rest... ignore such sad jerks who can't get such beautifull tunes...top..

    xx

  • You are correct, they appeared twice on TFI and I must be referring to the latter one, I have it somewhere in my videos but its lost! Thanks anyway

  • "who let that ginger tosspiece out of his cage"

Presumably the same person that forgot to abort 'falconisdead'.

  • No I have the whole show this is from and there's no Frank Sonata. I have this cos it's the show I went to the recording of. This song was the playout.

  • love this song!!

  • Thanks for posting this, great to see it again. Do you have the Frank Sonata from this show, if I remember they played out with it and it was awesome.

  • @petermuskett

Frank sonata wasn't written when this came out.

I remember they played Blue skies in 1999 to support Mobile home so they might have ended the show with the Frank Sonata then

  • who let that ginger tosspiece out of his cage

  • Presumably the same person that forgot to abort you.
