Ce pianiste joue de façon romantique la pièce; il surjoue; cela ne convient pas à l'esprit de la pièce. De plus le piano est faux dans les aigus; c'est quand même gênant
@MrEbaby2010 Playing this piece, you're supposed to seperate the voices like an orchestra would do (even if the orchestra version was published 11 years later). The staccato is actually written in the piano score, but you also have to use the pedal to play the other voices properly. By pressing the pedal half-down, Shimkus uses a very neat trick to get the staccat impression, but also keeps the sound of the other voices. I think it works great for this piece!
I was given this piece by my piano teacher and at first I hated it but then had the idea to listen to it on Youtube and I'm glad I did! Vestard Shimkus really brings this piece to life with enough tenderness and passion to make me cry! A little put off by the coughing in the background though :) A beautiful piece
perfect.

il joue de manière trop romantique; il ne respecte pas l'esprit de la musique de Ravel ; il surjoue... Le piano est faux dans les aigus !

the very best - absolute quality in comparison to guitar, violin and orchestral renditions. This is how I played it.

I listened to this and the first time I heard it I pictured a 1940s film, in sephia and just about wept at it's beauty. Truly brilliant

I am far from convinced that the balance is consistently correct throughout this performance.

Hmm, feels a little hurried - both in tempo and could've lingered on some of th chords for greater effect.. just me?

Am I crazy or does the piano sound a little out of tune in the high registers at the end?

I woudl suggest to have less staccato at the beginning of the playing. For the rest, bravo.
