I'm not sure it's entirely accurate to describe the towns as very French, because while it's in Quebec and majority French, the area was originally settled by English settlers that grew over time into an important segment of Quebec's historic and distinct Anglophone minority. This, for me, is one of the things that adds to the unique flavour and heritage of the area. Many Anglos still live there and despite a French renaming campaign, many towns have English names and architecture which is cool.
