  • go back to season 3, why would the others treat the four candidates on the list that Michael had to bring to them so cruelly unless it was mib that wanted them to be treated that way.....he wanted the others to kill thekk

  • after watching that scene for the first time it was obvious that the others were being duped by the mib for a very long time, even Richard alprt

  • Jacob is a BAWSE

  • Lol its Lucifer and War

  • Sooo who built the statue

  • both of them were on supernatural, the devil and one of the four horsemen

  • for a dude whose been living on an island forever hes fucking shit at filleting a fish ffs so much waste on that

  • @1l0r1a3c Go kill yourself.

  • Trust in Jacob.

  • he makes Richard stop aging, plus Mother said there's a small amount of the light in every person and that people had came to the island to steal more.. Can we say fountain of youth anybody. It's the only right answer JACOB IS FATHER TIME!

Oh and smokie/mib was just the opposite DEATH

  • Go back and watch the show people Jacob was no god because he couldn't forgive richard of all his sins and let him into heaven, he does however give him the ability to never age ,sooooooooo it should be pretty obvious especially with the magic light of the island which could apparently control and jump thru time... Jacob was father time think about it he was protecting the light, he makes Richard stop aging, plus Mother said there's a small amount of the light in every person and that people ha

  • Hey it's Lucifer and War. Thumbs up if you know what I'm referencing.

  • @PlaymakerSeries Supernatural ;)

  • Lucifer?!?!?! Ô.o

  • i remember when i saw this, perhaps the most exciting scene for me of Lost because of all the new found potential...too bad they fucked the last season up (or should i say the final couple of episodes of the final season, and especially the ending)

  • I can't see the actor who played Jacob without thinking of him as Rita's husband from Dexter. Jacob and Charlie could be heroine buddies.

  • @Mbop28 I have the same but my problem is I view the guy as Lucifer from Supernatural which is even more messed up :D

  • @AntaresX9 I just came from watching Hammer of the Gods and I kept expecting him to attack the man in black with telekinesis or something :P

  • @ginagirl123123 That would be quite weird as the man in black is War in Supernatural :D

  • Damn Pellegrino, you are awesome.

  • The greatest Series in history

But with a so poor end... -.-

  • @TheLordOfWeed You are half right, the first half. The END was perfection.

  • I have seen him in 5 different movies/series within a month without knowing he'd be there before watching.Just scary.

  • this scene changes my life forever.

  • MiB: They come, they fight , they destroy, they corrupt.....it always ends the same.

Jacob: It only ends once...everything that happens before that is just progress.

THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE WITH JACOB!

  • @Nerwen85 what did jacob mean by that? it's about the candidates right?

  • where's the money lebowski? WHERE'S THE FUCKING MONEY SHITHEAD??

  • Talk about different roles, The actor that played Jacob is now The Devil on Supernatural. He's a great devil too. Good acting!

  • @flutey28 YES He is a GREAT ACTOR, when I seen him on Supernatural I was in shock.

  • 2:25 can any shot be more epic, watching this the first time when he said do you have any idea how badly i want to kill you... wait, what did he just say he wants to kill him ? then thinking, this episode is going to be the most epic thing i have ever seen in my entire life. when he calls him jacob , I got chills up my spine and then when it panned out showing the statue the biggest tingle i had ever had in my life ran up it again. one of the most amazing scenes in media history

  • @ieio1983 "The Tangled Web"

  • if they ever make season 7, the opening scene should be this, except it's hurley spinning the thread

  • OMG I JUST RELISED THAT THEY WHEN LIVING WITH THE MIB

  • When I first saw this, I was like, "That's not Jacob, that's Rita's abusive heroin addict ex-husband!"

  • @jmj540 Well, when I first saw this, I was like, "That's not Jacob, that's Lucifer! And that's not the Man in Black, that's War!" ^_^

  • What's the song title? I don't find it in any way.... :-(

  • Jacob:'' It only ends once, anything happends before that.....is just progress....''

  • @egdqv13234 earth shattering statement, for the show and for life in general

  • Basically, Jacob is God and The Dude in Black is the devil!

  • @WikdGamer Everyone can explain it however they want to. Althought we saw in room23 a sentance saying "He loves you as he loved Jacob"

  • @WikdGamer No, they aren't.

  • @WikdGamer that is far from the truth lol. the devil part i agree with, but God doesn't need "candidates to replace him lol

  • @pkmuffun Or does he?

  • @WikdGamer last time i checked there is only One God ha

  • @pkmuffun Wait a second, did I say that there are more than one God? I don't think so!

  • Do we ever find out what the man in blacks name is? Cuz I'm only on like the second season

  • @WaterBottle1998 No we don't :)

  • @EmilVejbyThorndahl Ugh how annoying!

  • @WaterBottle1998 Well... It doesn't really matter :)

  • @EmilVejbyThorndahl True but I'd of liked to know it!

  • @WaterBottle1998 They don't give his name but the writers did consider using Samuel.

  • @MrAnonymous13000 Samuel? I think they could have used a harder name for him! Like... Voldemort or Sauron

  • @WaterBottle1998 Why the hell are you watching this if you're only on the second season? Avoid at all costs!

  • @ginnoveffect Well I am stupid so yunno

  • Ahhhh i want to see this episode soo bad!! i have all 6 seasons on dvd, but i lost the disc 5 of season five (this episode). :(

  • One of the best scenes in television history.I kinda wish they ended the show with this episode saving us from the embarrassing season 6.

  • we lost Lost :(

  • for any of the prison break watchers these two guys were the 2 of 3 people who wanted to buy syla....weird

  • One of the best scenes on the show EVER !

  • Oh Jacob is so omniscient!

  • The Ending was Epic dude but I wish that they would make another season or an FAQ or something

  • i remember watching this and remembering that it was a scene in the show and i didnt think anything of it

  • I love lost too but be honest the ending was fucked i was disappointed.

  • @ETSpacealien Can you explain why?

  • THE BEST SERIE !!!

    I LOVE LOST !

  • it would be so great if the scene had started with jacob's eye opening

  • Titus Welliver is an awesome actor. You guys should watch him in Sons of Anarchy as the IRA leader - amazing stuff. There's quite a few actors from Lost on that show now.

  • I remember the first time I heard the MIB say Jacob's name, it gave me chills. Another one of Lost's crazy surprises! Made me go =-O

  • I remember watching this and just was like " WTH" !!!!

  • What did Jackob mean when he said - anthing that happens BEFORE that is just progress?

And why is he lying on purpose - that he didn't bring ship here, when later on he says to Richard Alpert that he DID?

  • @aspirin02 He said 'it only ENDs ONCE, anything before that is just progress'

Meaning that everything can only end once and everything leading up to it is just progress, because the MIB said 'it always ends the same'.

  • @charnj1 @charnj1 Jacob's point of view is wrong! Nothing that happens before that is a progress!Anything that leads to corruption, destruction and lies is simply a degradation!

MIB said 'it always ends the same' , because it's a repeating never ending circle and it will be always in the their very nature to sin!

  • @ThePorkpielover

    Agreed.

  • Lost was far and away the greatest show in the history of television-until season 6 (and ESPECIALLY the finale) turned it into a preposterous soap opera that rendered everything that occurred before it completely irrelevant and meaningless.

  • @ThePorkpielover Disagree.

  • the greatest 3 minutes in all of television

  • That shot of the statue gives me chills every damn time.

  • "It only ends once. Anything that happens before that is just progress."

  • ther both on supernatural

  • TEAM JACOB!!!!!!

  • @Damon242

Have you ever considered the name could've been used for the reason I said it was? If you don't have any factual evidence to support your theory about it being solely in relation to it's position, then your arrogant statement is just like mine, an interpretation of the name.

And you stating that the question is rhetorical is you assuming that your opinion is fact, which is fail. Good day sir.

  • @tittyslapper7 My god, you actually replied to it.

No, it was a rhetorical question because it wasn't actually something that required an answer, but rather just required you to think about it.

I didn't position it as a theory, I simply asked you (rhetorically, once again) if you had considered it.

Arrogance is obviously a namesake to how you conclude your posts.

  • Do you have any idea how badly I want to kill you? ..EPIC..

  • The MIB is the contained apocalypse. If he leaves the island, his disdain for all mankind will bring about the end of the world. Jacob still has faith in mankind, and that's why he will not allow him to leave the island. The irony of the show is that humanity is the true antagonist. The island represents purity.

  • Everytime Jacob eats fish, his head is hidden.

    1:25

    1:40

    1:48

  • @LordApocalypse7 OMG WTF HIDDEN CLUES WAT DUS IT MEAN OMG

  • @LordApocalypse7

didn't you hear about the fish stick conspiracy theory, it's a part of the show, it all makes sense XD

  • @UniqueGeekFreak Indeed.

  • Who else felt like this scene was like a last second shot that looked beautiful, but then somehow it just didn't drop. This scene setup the endgame beautifully, but as much as I love the show, I feel like the setup and payoff just didn't match....not to suggest it wasn't an amazing show. Just that the setup and the payoff didn't line up for me.

  • damn! the blond guy is so sexy!

  • I've started to think that this is one of the most epic scenes in the history of TV...IMO

  • best scene in history of television.

  • Am I the only one, who thinks, the MiB is hot? :D

  • I think I lean more towards MIBs philosophy on life than I do to Jacobs philosophy. This is the best scene in Lost!

  • this scene put "Lost" on a completely new level ...

  • @19Ultimate87 just like every other scene on a premiere/finale

  • LOL! Mark Pellegrino (Jacob) is the same man who played Nick (aka Lucifer) in SUPERNATURAL. He is SUCH a cool actor, and it's awesome to see him playing the complete opposite of his SUPERNATURAL character.

  • 0:36 REVERSE FIRE!! XD

  • @tittyslaper7 @copthat - Isn't it possible for Mother to have been a Smoke Monster, and then after she dies, MIB be a Smoke Monster?

  • @Sinadins No. Smoke monster was evil. Mother was protector. Jacob propably had same kind of killing power than MiB and Mother (Hurley has it too) but he ran things by his own way. Mother didn´t like people because she thought they were corrupt. So she just killed them to protect the Island. Jacob in other hand had high hopes for people and he put them in charge. So Jacob draws people to the Island as did this scene explained.

  • @haskapaska I know all that. I'm just referring to the argument that had been occuring over the past 5 or so pages of comments.

  • @haskapaska the smoke monster wasn't evil by nature, you realize. And yes, mother was a smoke monster (read the transcript for the 'across the sea' commentary). She was dual-position; the monster, but also the protector. She only became the monster because she somehow ended up in the chamber that lies beneath the light (stone-contraption in the cave seen in 'the end').

    It's all in the commentary.

  • @Sinadins she was a smoke monster, the producers even hint at it in the 'across the sea' commentary, and the clues are sprinkled throughout the episode.

Mother was more the dual creature - she was the monster, but also the protector. She only became the monster because she somehow ended up in the chamber that lies beneath the stone-contraption in the light-cave.

Once again, it's all in the 'across the sea' commentary.

  • Best Scene In The History Of Television!!!!

  • The best LOST scene. To bad we didn't find out who built statue and what for. I'm 100% sure it,s mix - sobek and tamaret.

  • I thought Jacob could not die until/unless he had found someone to replace him. Jack had not yet taken the drink of water to replace Jacob when Ben stabbed him so how could he die? Also I thought Mother had made it so Jacob and the Man in Black could not hurt each other. So how come Jacob was able to hurt the Man in Black and throw him down the stream into the light?

  • @santachorry 1. It is never ever said that Jacob could not die until he had found a replacement, he is always mortal, you just made that up. 2. When Mother said they cant hurt each other, she really meant "kill", but she was speaking to kids so she hurt instead.

  • @Rude666 Ok so Mother meant that they could not kill each other. Then how come Jacob was able to kill the Man in Black when he threw him down the stream? Yes he turned into smoke, but his mortal body was killed.

  • @santachorry : There are two explanation in this: 1) She touched them both(Remember that a candidate cannot kill another candidate). The ways for a candidate to die were to commit suicide or go down the light, taken over by the energy(in which case they become Smoke Monster, depends on their soul probably). 2) She simply lied to them and they believed it, they believed it so bad that they didnt even try to kill each other. This is unlikely scenario though.

  • @copthat"

and Locke to get what he wanted.

So you talking about Jacob being a smoke monster is completely out of left field although it has been speculated that there is more than one monster ever since we saw the drawing on the blast door map in the hatch which was drawn by Radzinsky

On the map it states the Monster's nickname, Cerebus.

Cerebrus was a three headed dog used to protect the entrance of Hades.

The Smoke monster split in three when trying to attack Juliet and kate.

  • @tittyslapper7 have you ever considered that the use of the name 'cerberus' referred, not to his physical form, but solely his position? (this is rhetorical btw, you don't have to answer it)

  • @copthat"

More than a hundred years later, we see that Smokey has instead used Locke and Ben as pawn pieces to complete his loophole and achieve his objective of slaying Jacob to be relinquished from the prison that is the island.

After Jacob is dead and Richard feels more lost than ever, he goes back to the site where Isabella's necklace was buried and retrieves it, stating that he will take the MIB's offer but MIB never responds.

Why? Because Richard isn't needed since MIB used Ben.

  • @copthat

We even see after Richard returns from meeting with Jacob that he has a white rock in his hand, stating as an inside joke between Jacob and Smokey that goodness prevailed. Smokey, being the master manipulator he is, tells Richard "If you ever change your mind at anytime, my offer still stands"

  • @Copthat

To support anything you say as I have provided, episodes and specific scenes to prove my theory that the smoke is impersonating MIB and not the other way around.

I really can't believe you couldn't see that Smokey, being the Man behind the Curtain, the Master Manipulator, was trying to use Richard to achieve his goal of being set free by having Jacob indirectly killed so that he could flee the island.

Like i said earlier, you have to be spoon fed apparently.

  • @Copthat

I don't know if you heard of this term before but what MIB did to Richard was called REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY. He was telling Richard essentially how to kill the monster but was telling Richard that Jacob was the monster/devil.

Can you really not see the similiarities between MIB trying to get Richard to be his loophole and failing and then centuries later getting Ben and Locke to be his loophole and succeeding partially?

It's funny because you dont use any evidence from the show

  • @Copthat

...Come on.. you can't be THAT stupid.

Clearly, MIB told Richard to stab Jacob because that would allow the Monster to be free if Jacob was killed by anyone other than Smokey. We even see MIB take advantage of Richards religious beliefs, stating that the Island is hell and Jacob is the devil and that to get Isabella back, (Smokey was impersonating her form, he did this by scannning Richards memories as we saw) He would have to stab Jacob.

  • @copthat

And just because you are too incapable of doing some actual research to support your dumb ass reasoning, the episode in which Dogen specifically tells Sayid to stab the monster from behind without interaction is the episode SUNDOWN.

    You fail. You fail hard.

  • @copthat

Damn dude, you are truly an idiot or did not watch Season 6 at all. DOGEN did in fact tell Sayid to stab Locke from behind without letting Locke speak to him.

And do you realize that it was The Smoke Monster who told Sayid that Dogen sent him out there to be killed after it would've stabbed him. Obviously the Man in Black, who lied longer and better than the nefarious Benjamin Linus, was lying to Sayid to turn the tables on Dogen, and have Dogen killed so he could enter the temple.

  • @copthat

What part of LOST SEASON 6 DVD COMMENTARY do you not understand or are you as I stated earlier, genuinely retarded? If it is stated in commentary by the creators of the show, then i'm more than certain it holds weight.

Also, you have to be an idiot if you need to be spoon fed the simple fact that the Smoke monster takes the form of the dead and begins to think it is that person over time.

Did you ever realize that The smoke monster could be a result of a paradox? Example:

  • @Copthat

Read from the bottom up but you are really retarded if you think the writers clearly had any idea or sense of direction as to where they were taking this story after Season 3. Season 6 was hyped to be the season that answered all questions and fulfilled all voids but instead of revelations to mysteries that have plagued viewers since day one, we get answers like where Shannon's inhaler ended up being, three years later. Yay.

  • @Copthat

Now this is where your theory makes no sense.

If we see 2,000 years later, that the bones of MIB and Mother are discovered by Jack and Kate and are still intact, then how can the MIB still be walking around in his human form as a cloud of smoke if he is already dead?

We saw that Smokey takes the form of the dead who have not been properly buried, like MIB, the person who set Smokey free from the cave.

We see Smokey take on the form of Locke, who was also not buried and dead.

  • @Copthat

What I say next is evidence that The Smoke Monster has always existed without unexplained origins and that it is impersonating MIB and not the other way around.

When Jacob finds their Mother murdered, we see him drag his brother to the well and throw him down it. After the rumbling occurs and the Smoke Monster shoots out, we see Jacob find his brother's lifeless body in which he then carries his brother back to the cave to be laid to rest next to their Mother.

  • @Copthat

Thirdly, we see that she is murdered the exact same way that Dogen, head of the Temple, explained to Sayid to do before he sent Sayid to kill Locke. Dogen's instructions were to specifically stab the monster from behind without letting it utter a single word to you.

MIB, came behind his Mother and stabbed her after he discovered what she had did. When he stabbed her, instead of being surprised o angry, she merely thanked him as if he were setting her free from a burden.

  • @Copthat

Now, it is heavily hinted in the episode "Across the Sea" that Mother is the original monster. For starters, she was the first and only person we saw on that island after finding out Isabella crashed onto the island. Secondly of all, when MIB awoke from Mother smashing his head into a wall, he saw all of his men slain, the Well he used to get down to the light source was completely covered and destroyed, and he was carried back up through the ladder by Mother

A woman could not do that

  • @Copthat

I honestly don't blame you for saying I dont make sense because LOST's 6th season completely ruined the story and cause it to not make sense.

What I am saying is that it is heavily hinted and then stated on the Season 6 DVD Commentary of the episode "Across the Sea" that Mother was the original Smoke Monster, which answers your question about whether or not if there was one before MIB.

  • @Copthat

Also, how would Mother know what lies beyond the tunnel, how could she know what lies down there is worst than death?

  • Dogen even states that the only way to kill the monster is by stabbing it in the back without letting it speak to you. MIB did exactly that to Mother and was she even in the slightest mad? No, instead she thanked him with the sound of relief cradled in her voice.

Also, she is the only one to see Jacobs and MIB's DEAD real mother who happened to come to MIB. Jacob and MIB's mom wasnt even buried which again goes hand in hand with the monster taking form of the dead.

Im eager to hear u on this

  • Yes, there was a monster before MIB and her name was Mother. Season 6 Commentary of Across the Sea even states this. When Mother slams MIBS head, do you really think it's possible for a human, let alone a woman, to carry him back up through the ladder over her shoulder, kill every single man MIB was working with in discovering the light, then buried the tunnel? Did you not see how MIB stabbed Mother in the back which was the only way to kill the Monster? Did you not hear her whisper Thank You.

  • @copthat

Please explain to me that if MIB is the monster and is not being impersonated then how are the remains of his dead body able to be discovered by Jack and Kate?

How can he be the smoke monster who we have seen take the forms of the dead who have not been properly buried, (Christian, Yemi, Alex, MIB, Ben's mom, etc) when his bones are already in a cave next to his mom's?

They even state that the monster is evil INCARNATE, meaning it is taking the form of a person to personify itself.

  • @copthat

Jacob is the one responsible for throwing MIB down into the well to begin with which caused the release of the smoke monster. The monster impersonating the image of MIB was possibly it's attempt to manipulate Jacob into allowing him to leave the island as the smoke monster has done with everyone else. The monster comes in the form of someone you know or love (Christian, to Jack, Yemi to Eko, Alex to Ben, Isabella to Richard) Jacob loved MIB so that is who the monster chose to shift as.

  • @copthat

I didn't remind anyone why it took the form of MIB because I wasn't asked too and because it's never really explained. It is even suggested that Mother is the original smoke monster. Season 6 in itself was really a singular season that had nothing really to do with the previous 5 which is why I don't really care for it much to begin with.

I believe that the smoke monster takes the form of MIB not as a reminder of it's humanity since it is not human but as an insult to Jacob.

  • @itspeejay

The series has shown us that the smoke monster has a habit of taking the form of the dead who are not properly buried (Christian, Yemi, Alex, Locke, MIB) and just as the MIB's corpse was discovered, so was Locke's. We even see the smoker monster come to Richard in the form of the Isabella (taking the form of the dead of the unburied again) and then transform into the smoke monster, then hours later, come to him as MIB.

The smoke monster is the villian.

  • @itspeejay

I too thought the smoke monster was a seperate entity but in this case as Season 6 has showed us, it is the identity of Samue(MIB) and Flocke. The reason I believe the smoke monster to be taking the form of the MIB is because after the Man in Black fell into the hole, we still saw his body in the river, we even saw the bones of his body laying next to their Mother, thousands of years later by the survivors.

  • @itspeejay

That is not the Man in Black, it is the smoke monster taking the form of the Man in Black who died. We saw that the Man in Blacks body was lifeless when Jacob found him in the river and we saw the black smoke fly off after the man in black entered the hole and the shaking occured.

The writers even demonstrated that the smoke monster has no original personality but rather takes on the memories and impressions of the dead people it impersonates like it did Locke when it screamed

  • @tittyslapper7 So by that logic, its the monster taking the form of MIB whos taking the form of locke, that doesnt make any sense.

Its the man in black, when jacob threw him into the light/source his consciousness/spirit is turned into the 'smoke monster', his body is there because jacob couldn't kill MIB like mother said, thats why it happened, his consciousness/spirit survived and only his body died. Its in the Lost Encyclopedia too.

  • @tittyslapper7 I used to think the smoke monster was a separate entity too, but when you think about it, it doesnt make much sense. MIB really wanted to leave the island and couldnt, he's then turned into the monster, his goal is still to want to leave the island, and he cant because of him being the monster now. and its similar to how most superhero/villains are born, in the case its a villain.

  • "Don't tell me what I can't do" to kid Jacob. Demonstrating that he was starting to emit traits of Locke's personality over time.

  • Scenes like this is what made Lost so f*ing great up to that point. They always did such a brilliant job at building these kind of moments. It is a SHAME that they decided to wrap the series up in such a lousy way.

  • @Ngooo I thought they wrapped the series up pretty well, they answered all the important questions and gave us a good ending to the series

  • i remember after watching this scene i was like ... Who ? What ? Where?...

    gotta love lost !

  • the scene with the statue and music is EPIC

i love lost with his cliffhangers and twists

  • I loved this scene, because all this time we thought Jacob might just be another one of Ben's lies. Then we see this scene and we're like who the hell is this, and then he says his name and you're like holy sh*t! I loved Lost, and I swear when I die, I want that Island to be my Heaven.

  • @Liquatic You mean Flash-Sideways not Heaven

  • Does anyone else see the significance of the weaving thing comparing it to some thing (think it was a greek idea) were the length of the thread represents a persons lifespan, the colour of the thread represents something & the woven pattern represents how peoples lives & interactions forming a pattern in the fabric?

  • I wished Jacob would come and take me to the island, too. I think I would be a candidate for him.

  • hands down there hasn't been a better revelation scene in tv history yet

  • Iconic.

  • What does it say across the blanket he is making??????

  • Lucy...Im home...!

  • whats up with the statue...i still dont get what its all about..some egyptian alien shit

  • @Farhanbangladesh Egyptians built it not long after Jacob and MiB started "testing" people.

  • @Farhanbangladesh

Not aliens. The statue was built by some Egyptians that came to the island, just like the "Romans" who were Jacob and MIB's people. I think the purpose of the statue (other than looking cool) was to suggest that people had been coming to the island since the beginning of mankind.

  • "But it only ends once. Anything that happens before that, it´s just progress." The best LOST-Scene with interesting new characters. I can recite the whole scene over and over again

  • @frankplka me too!

  • @zuj467 that's because you're a dumb nerd, lost was just a shit and THIS WHOLE SCENE WAS COMPLETELY POINTLESS considering what we find out in the sixth season, the MiB being friend of humans and Jacob hiding from them and considering them dangerous. Writers really had no idea where they were going when they wrote this scene, they never had. Lost was just a stupid show that stole six years of my life

  • @CactusCartwright hey mister mace i know lost was made up on the fly but who cares anyway? it's all about great(even when pointless) scenes, epic music and epic catchphrases, the (unresolved)mysteries and discussions about the show and the fervid waiting for the next episode...and before you say anything the FINALE was great i was almost brought to tears because it was the end of six great years in television! go back to fap to solid snake

  • @CactusCartwright MiB is friend of humans? I think you need to go back and rewatch lol... It basically comes down to this, anybody who dislikes the show is because they are dumb and/or poorly misinformed.

  • @CactusCartwright uh...what? Nothing you wrote here made any sense.

  • Who & how did that stutue get built?

  • I wonder what MIB had to eat...

  • @ElegantClone lol

  • @ElegantClone souls

  • This is by far the most overrated show in the history of television.
