This is pretty lame version of a truly great song by The Zombies. Go to the original from 1969 or their inspired remake on the Jimmy Fallon Show last month.
totally agree...i was there at old trafford on that fabulous night...and when i watched the replay this song was played at the end....always wondered who sang this great song.
to those who don't know: this was a pisstake. the only song on the album which wasn't laughing at the original was valentine (and maybe the heppelbaums track...)
speaking asa musician and song writer...eyaddarrass..i heard the original and many takes,,,,i find this one to be very sincere..but in a sense..yuou're right..can'tbeat the orgiginal
fantastic..laughed out loud when we saw this...thanks for sharing it...BTW as far as we can tell they are miming and unless Rothers has had plastic surgery to look like window blinds, he's not there..!
I don't think they are miming, the strings can be done on a keyboard, Rotheray is playing the right bits and the end is slightly different to the recorded version (The Bass Bit is a bit longer)
Dave Rotheray isn't even there! Damon is clearly playing the piano part, not the strings part, Paul is miming the bass and Sean is miming the guitar. It's a typical TBS joke, sir! Great stuff!

They had mimed several times - Heaton once sent impersonators of him and Jacqui to a charity event to mime for them.

Sky TV did a smashing montage using this when Leeds Rhinos won their first title in 32 years. Even know it makes me think of that wonderful night.

Pretty obnoxious. Missing all the grace and elegance of the original.

think of it as a cover in its own right, the whole point of a cover is that it doesn't sound like the original

one of the great things about the beautiful south is that they will sing properly without making it as obvious as i have.
