@Haven37 mermaids were considered beasts that used beautiful songs to decieve sailors and lure them into whirlpools then the mermaids would consume the crew when their ships were destroyed

in this she seemed to have some sort of demonic power intuned with her music because of some wish or something and although inadvertant ... she was luring people to .. well .. you've seen the anime
