  • wow I at last understand what this song is talking about the driver stops in a ghost town at night in the winter the car wont start and the driver looks at there own death amazing

  • Love this song, pity that I couldn´t find it on their compilation cd. Have it on an old vinyl only. All the Abba elements are in their place, as noted below: Summer Night City, One Night in Bangkok, The day before You came... The recipe works and we have here a great pop song, unfortunately did not receive the popularity or air play it should have.. The Glenmarks are still today great artists and musicians. Would like to hear Karin sing, any new songs from her?

  • I think other similarities to One night in bangkok, are that its also the same singers, Anders sang the chorus with Karin on backing. The backing track arrangement is also very similar.

  • The chorus is so much like One Night In Bangkok

    "One Night In Bangkok and the world's your oyester,

    Not much between despair and ecstasy"

    "Ghost town deadly night,

    Frozen in the silence of the winter night"

  • @woutch If you see it that way, then the chorus in 'Gimme, Gimme' is also similar to the one in 'One night in Bangkok'; That's all the diversity of the beauty of the B&B songs; enjoy;

  • @MagnaYu The rythmics are similar in Gimme, I agree. But the melody is the same In Ghost Town. Similarly, Summer Night City has parts of the same melody to The Visitors ("Waiting for thhe sunrise..." / "Now I hear them moving...") I don't think it's so much "diversity" as self plagurism!

  • @woutch I totally agree about the comparison of 'SNC' and 'The Visitors'; Even when I heard TV for the first time, I instantly recognized the 'stolen' parts from SNC in the chorus. Still, because of the respect to B&B and their work, I wouldn't 'accuse' them for self-plagiarism. Some things we, the fans need to 'swollow' and let them be without making a big deal about it. Regards;

  • @MagnaYu Oh, I totally agree. I adore everything about B&B (well, except for them being producers of that awful stage show Mamma Mia!). I find, as a student of their music, I hear so many phrases and melody lines re-used. It happens a lot in the BAO recordings and also in their musicals too. It's a bit of a game for me to spot it.

    Apart from the obvious I'm An A becoming I Know Him So Well and Hovas Vittne becoming Merano, can you hear Thank You For The Music in Someone Else's Story?

  • @woutch well...yes-:)), now when I 'played' the 2 songs in my mind I found some similarity. Also, I would add here 'Why did it have to be me' (versus) being used partially to create the great 'Like an Angel passing through my room'. Do you think so?

  • @woutch Another thing- The english phrases that Bjorn uses in the lyrics ('Head over heels', 'The name of the game', 'shooting a sitting duck', 'taking candy from a baby'..and MANY others, in almost every ABBA song) helped me a lot in my learning English phrases when I was younger; I adore his lyrics and many of his phrases I use today in various situations-:)), and thus sometimes impress people around; Regards;

  • @MagnaYu. Makes sense, except for "Candy from a baby". This is not an English phrase, it's an American one! We don't call it "candy" in Britain!

  • @woutch Anyhow, a big:-'Thanks Bjorn for the lyrics'; need to go now, it's 1.24 am here; nice talking to you and best regards;

  • @MagnaYu

  • @woutch oops, sorry, for my phonetic writting, 'swollow' should be ""swallow""; cheers;

  • yes, i disagree with karen, too. i immed. clicked with this song when i heard it all those yrs. ago, and the same with `i`m a bitch when i see red`, two really modern songs

  • Has anyone got Gemini's songs 'Have Mercy' 'Live On The Love' & 'Sniffing Out The Snakes'

  • Goosebumps all over... the video creates a certain "First Contact" feeling. Great footage! And oh do I love this song...!

  • You can hear Soviet Union in this.Did listen a lot radio back in my youth.The signal from USSR is very similar to Bennys "sling" in the arrangement.

  • Karin once said that she thought this song was awful. But I do disagree with her!

  • I'm a bitch when I see red.That is probably even better.

  • Finally someone to put something more from Gemini; Wonderful song, would fit ABBA perfectly.

  • Great video :-) I love this song. Would have been great to hear ABBA sing it.
