If it gave the government full control, I believe it would help the economy get out of crisis. The only way it will destroy private health insurance is if their prices for insurance where more than the public insurances that are widely known.
I disagree...public option will make it easier because people can go where ever they feel like and not worry about whether they can pay the doctor or not.

I agree with short08cake.. public option is indeed necassary to this country right now. Many individuals are unable to go to specialist because of money issues. Once public option is set forth many individuals in low income areas will be able to go to doctors and will be able to go to specialists that are well known.
What kind of warped society do we live in? Health insurance should be a RIGHT, not a privilege. I am a trial attorney without health insurance. I had to give up my practice. I am willing to marry the right lady for health insurance. Must be willing to move to Washington State or Coeur d Alene, Idaho, a beautiful resort town.
I second!!!! Free healthcare should be added in the constitution along with Freedom of speech and Freedom of the press. Our government will put you in jail if you do not pay your taxes but do not care if you live or die because you do not have healthcare. Our government needs a major change.
no just give me the rite to live in my country healthy you keep your insurance and keep paying them 3 times more and get denied then come running :)))
i pay cash and its about 80 percent cheaper. I dont need to get denied i pay cash. Get some self responsibility and stop making me pay your medical bills
yeah self responsibility real greedy. There is a differnce between greed and responsibility.
maybe if more people like yourself would learn that you would be better off instead of depending on the government for what you get. As for my previous statment i was saying if you pay cash its 80% cheaper then insurance comapanies. I dont see how that is greed paying for my own bills. Guess your liek the rest of the democrates bunch of sheep.
you know, despite being a mega powerhouse, the europeans have had universal healthcare for ages. in the progressive era when they were actually progressing, us americans were stubbornly fighting against a better healthcare system...so yeah, i might just move to canada, sir (or ma'am)
yeah i love how people say we should and have to go to the public options with out considering. allowing insurance accross state lines or looking into malpractice reform, or looking into the amazing amound of medicare fraud . yes lets destroy the whole system so we can be as you say progressives but in the end forget all the other options
@marth193 since your so knowledgable about this tell me the page & pargraph these are mentioned. of course obmama himself saying they werent in the bill the other day probably doesnt mean anything to you. no your the dumbass who trolls on comments who is obviously an idiot. learn to pay attentioon more and get your facts straight fuckin retard
we dont need health care reform as much as we need good paying jobs for the people so they can afford health care.lot of people working 3 min wage jobs part time with no health care.we need to quit shipping our jobs to china and start paying the people enough they can live!!!just look at the mess the govt has made of social security and worker comp.what u want to have a attorney just to get health care too?
bo stinks and so do his bigger goverment ideas.we need to vote all these jokers out.

there is a way to reform health care its called tort reform and malpractice litigation. thats how you reform healthcare.
i know what u all are thinking im some right wing nuit job. no im neither democrat or republican im against any government involment any anything. the real problem is the government not the insurance companies
Countries with national health care live longer that we do. They have lower infant mortality rates than we do. They don't ever go bankrupt due to medical expenses. They don't ever get denied treatment due to preexisting conditions. They all get coverage even when they're really sick and they need it most. It makes their business community more competitive. Google to verify. You want to pay for health insurance, fine. Everyone should have the choice to choose a public option if they want to.
Those have to be reformed to eliminate frivolous claims but insurance companies need to profit. And how else do you profit then by paying out less? You're going to have to pay more and get out less for private insurance to profit. And thats one of the many issues. Government shouldn't be involved in anything? So they should privatize firefighter, police, military, education, roads, etc?
well you see your problem is with the insurance companies. fix them now lets completly change our midical system to government control becuse we hate insurance comapnies. government in the history of the world has never solved anything and only made things worse.
Governments like private companies have did both. Fix things and make some worse. And this exactly the problem. A public option isn't giving government control tot he medical system. There will still be private insurance. They have such a hybrid in France. Except ours won't even be close to government control. Has medicare destroyed private insurance? No
Which medical care? Routine medical care is pretty much the same in developed countries.I don't know anyone that comes to the US or goes to France. How about just taking the best parts of other systems? We don't have to copy everything? Kind of like what Japan did with business and consumer technology.
you see im all for healthcare reform i think it is needed but in no way is the government the answer for any part of it. you can regulate the insurance comapnies. turning hospitals into the post office and the dmv is not acceptable.
and one more point how do you expect to pay for this government system? the government as it is in extreme debt. why would you give the healthcarte system over to people who mismanage money to be that far indebt.
How do you figure that? Once again its not single payer. Private insurance will still be heavily involved. They will just have actual competition and a need to lower prices.Right now they can overcharge and kick you off if necessary. They said that they would change after the last attempt at health care reform. Republicans stopped the Clinton reform and we are now paying even more and the private companies haven't done anything. This is the only real option.
its single payer becuse the bill itself says its nsingle payer. if you dont believe me look it up.
compitition between pirvate and public theres a difference government doesnt need to make a profit. futhermore every employer out there will off load its healthcare demands onto the public system. im not a republican but the republiucans can stop anything at all your problem is with the dems. they have the total majority control even if the rpublicans all vote no it still dooesnt matter.
This is really simple. In a for profit system companies make money by not approving or providing services. Paying for your treatment reduces they profits, is not in their best financial interest. You always have a better chance of getting proper treatment in a national health care system because it's not a for profit system. Not big executive salaries and no investor dividends to influence care decisions. It works for the rest of the industrial world, why not us?
u know how to make it cheaper by paying for it yourself. i pay cash when i go to the doctor its always cheaper. you see im not arguing onthe behalf of the insurance companies i dont liek them either but i would rather not have insuance at all and go back to paying for things yourself and responcibility for yourself.
it doesnt work for the rest of the world. there are sever problems with their systems. i dont even think i need to go into the problems of canadian or uk healthcare.
You confuse health care with Doctors, hospitals and technology. No one is saying our doctors suck or that overall our hospitals are bad. Health care reform is about getting access to those Doctors, hospitals and health care providers when you need it. So that if you get sick the insurance can't refuse you treatment or drop you from the plan. You don't want that then keep paying the insurance and hope for the best. But in our country no one should go bankrupt or worse die for lack of health care.
you know as well as i do if you go to a hospital you will be treated whether you have insurance or even a job. the american system is in no way perfect but its still the best in the world.
we develop all the drugs, treatments and new technologies. we have the best hospitals in the world. you want to change that?
you see i agree with you one the insurqace comapnies. but government involvment in the history of the world is always bad. just make dems make a acceptable bill wit out any government
to hell with your regulations complecating every god damned thing. your ways of thinkin are flawed. they are considered to be the old ways of thinking. And they have proven themselves to be deeply flawed over the years.. you don't need to have medical service a very complecated thing.. are you sick? go to the hospital and get better! and move on with life! the majority of your time should not be spent in a hospital. nor thinkin about how to pay for it. Those days are over !!
Nope! GOVERMENT OPTION will not improve anything. More costs, less quality, reduced access. No thanks! If you think healthcare costs to much now wait tell it is free! Asking for the goverment to act as middleman is pure stupidity! This is a power grab attempt the democrats don't give a dam about healthcare.
You're just confused John. A public option would allow people who choose it to have the government act as their insurance company. They see the same doctor and go to the same hospital as they do now. They just don't have to worry about their insurance coverage. Just like Medicare. No middleman, no increased costs, just heath care for all our citizens.
if you want the government involved why dont they just give a tex deduction based off your healthcare premiums? that is the real way to go
the government can give my tax money back so i can shop for my own healthcare. the people under government control now the va, medicare,Native American health care, and the stats that already have some sort of government care. all those people will say how terribly these systems run
You still don't seem to understand. The only difference you have between what you have now and what you'd have with the public option is that you'd no longer be in danger of not getting treated or your treatments being covered. This is real simple. If you don't want to be in the program don't sign up. But why should you prevent others from having that choice?
ok the government giving a tax break to everyone who pays taxesfor their healthcare. is reasonable. if you dont pay taxes then you shouldnt get any help from the government.
the government is already going broke from wellfair, unemployment and food stamps.
ask youself this questiojn would you buy ur own insurance if the taxes u pay right now on ur pay check was givin back to you. isnt that reasonable. for the government to give your money back so you can make up your own mind about healthcare.
actually the goverment has spent trillions more on corporate welfare than for welfare for the poor. Food stamps actually is a good investment and has a higher return than cost. It is much smarter to have healthcare as a not for profit service much like our police or fire departments. everybody would benefit and it would cost a lot less.,
doctors they should get profit for incentive to be the best they can. in the end u will go to the best doctor not the cheap doctor.
doctors go to school alot longer then all the above. so they should go to school for 10 years or more so they can make 30k a year like some highly underpaid cop who i also believe is highly underpaid. you cant put a cap on doctors pay becuse you will ljust loose the doctors
The goverment option will kill all other choices! That is it's design. No insuance can compete with the GOVERMENT OPTION because they have no profit motive. Do you want to be treated by a dr. who has zero incentive to do his best because regaurdless of his preformance at the end of the month he gets the same amount. Minimum wage for dr's is a bad bad bad idea!
You forget, Medicare is government health care. You go to the doctor of your choice and Medicare pays the bill. You don't like your doctor go to another doctor. Your argument is just right wing totally made up bullshit. Nobody buys that neo-nonsense. If you believe it, you've over dosed on Fox News. Get some help before you turn into Beck.
Medicare is government health care. I never said what was in the bill was Medicare. It works better if you read a post before you respond and say something stupid. Then you look like a dumbass. Free advice.
hospitals do not have to provide care. All they have to do is make sure you are stable. You can get treatment but it doesn't have to be good treatment. As educated people say let us have a single payer not for profit universal healthcare system and we will not go broke like we will under thye private insurance scam we have now
yes it has to be good treatment becuse you run into malpractice law.
we will go broke under the private insurance scam as you say but we will also go broke as a nation in a single payer universal healthcare system. you need to reform what is not change anything to government control
That agument is complete nonsense! WE lead the world in healthcare quality! Besides if every one was jumping off a bridge would you follow like a lemming?
People in countries with a national health care system live longer that we do(45th). They have lower infant mortality rates than we do(44th). So we don't have the best health care system in the world, it is the most expensive though.
And they don't go bankrupt due to medical expenses. They don't get denied treatment due to preexisting conditions. It reduces manufacturing costs and makes their business community more competitive. This is a no-brainer but explains why the right don't get it.
The state of Mass. is $9billion in dept because of their GOVERMENT OPTION. Emergency rooms are swarmed with meny more people than in the past. If you think healthcare cost to much now wait tell t is free!
That's it? We piss away more than ever month on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. And even though the right likes wars we could be putting that money to better use. If we need more hospitals to care for our own people, just build them. You know why you won't win this fight? Because 47 million Americans don't have health insurance and the right don't care. And everybody knows it.
here is a grerat idea instead of adopting this system you say is so great how about for now on our healthcare system should be sending people plane tickets for their healthcare in those countries. regardless of system it would be cheaper for us to fly you there then to pay all your bills
lies! and you are going to find out that what you say is lies! because you all said the same exact things back in the 1990's and all of your fears that you say will happen, HAPPENED under the current way of doing things! the health care bill will pass with a public option BECAUSE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP DOING THINGS THE CURRENT WAY!
bull! no you wont be treated.. or sure you will be treated but you are going to get a nice heafty bill commin in your mailbox! as for having the best drugs, treatments, new technologies..Those don't do jack squat for you if you are not given access to them..
You're still confusing health care and technology. Doctors, hospitals and technology are the components of a health care system. Health care reform is about having access to the system when you need it. We have a for profit health care system except for seniors and veterans. You get real sick and can't pay maybe you get treated maybe you don't. Maybe you need this new drug but it's a 1000 a week and you got no insurance, you're dead. With single payer you get the care not an excuse.
Obama wants to take more money from the producers and give it to the leeches. He thinks redistribution of wealth = social justice. He was taught that nonsense as a kid. Now he lives it as a adult that thinks you're not responsible for your postition in life. This is about power not healthcare.
I'm supposed to respond to this? You call people leeches cause they don't have health insurance? That phony air of superiority, that bluster because you have health insurance and other Americans dont. You condescending tone more likely masks deep feeling of envy and self-loathing. You can continue to post the standard right wing talking points that Rush thought up for you, which every intelligent person knows are false. Every American regardless of status deserves health care, even you.
The constituion does not and should not grant healthcare as a right. We need to redefine the scope of goverment. Remember what JFK said?" Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country" We have exspanded the goverment to gross levels. Spending is out of hand. Less goverment is better goverment.
Has nothing to do with the constitution. Does not even require government health care. Just regulate the industry like is currently done with utilities. Can't deny coverage, can't refuse for pre-existing conditions. Simple and already in use in Europe. Not government health care but designed to benefit the citizens not the CEO's. Problem solved.
No I am a guy who has spent the last 4 years in and out of hospitals. I have read tons on the subject. I have a favorite DR that was run out buisness because of government regulation that allowed nusance law suits to cripple his industrie. Government is the proublem not the answer! We need to streem line regulation and tort reform! The Government option is a nightmare of red tape and bloated regulation.
Tort reform has jack shit to do with anything. If your doctor kills you your family should be compensated. And the lack of anti-trust regulation is the reason there are so few choices for insurance in most states and such high costs. Bottom line everyone should have health care, period. No family should go bankrupt cause their kid got sick. That said I'm far less certain this administration can pull it off. Too much influence in both parties from all the special interests.
Oh ya? realy? Any idea what cost% of every treatment is just to cover insurance for protection from law suits? When states went to mandatory car insurance the costs went up! Now porttability is a great idea and allowing competition nation wide not state to state I am all for! But if you think tort reform will not help your crazy! Or a injury lawyer!
Nope, no idea. Roughly 45,000 people die each year from botched medical procedures. Everybody pays for that, but it's not the patients fault and the family should be compensated fairly for the loss. Explain where I'm wrong.
Looser pays will bring a halt to most ambulance chasers! You sue, you loose, you pay all costs! Oh and I googled your number and worded it 5 ways. Near I can tell it is more like 5000 not 45,000. You could lower healthcare cost 15% by capping dammages!
Guess again, my number is accurate and only includes procedures performed in hospitals. The total is closer to 250,000 when you include infections and drug errors and the like. Google accidental deaths caused by physicians.
So by your own post you admit you are slanting the number! You are lumping infections and drug errors in??? Hey pal I hate to break it to you but being born is fatal, No one gets out alive! You could include car accidents in just for shits and giggles, Your number would still be worthless!
Typical right wing speak. You don't do numbers or statistics that don't prove your point. Did you know you have something in common with Sara Palin, congratulations.
That is why the left has to attack her every chance they get. She has to be distroyed because she is dumb? hahaha Come on. Even you don't believe that! Sara is a huge threat to the democrats because she made it and did not need them, does not think like them and fights them!
Nobody needs to attack Palin, she sez plenty enough stupid shit all by herself and everybody except the delusional right knows it. She's a dream come true for the Democrats. They pray she runs and gets the nomination. Then she bailed out of her first term as Governor. It's too perfect, you couldn't make this up it's almost too good. She's the best thing since Dan Quale. She should have done a comics strip instead of a book. You can't seriously think she'd ever get elected again do you?
Yes! I think the more you attack her the better chance she has! Notice how the feminist groops stay silent when they should be outraged at the attacks on her children. The Quale analogy is classic liberal wishfull thinking!
Like I said, no attacks necessary. She paraded her kids around and she just got what she asked for, attention. She's a media hound. And wishful think? Tina Faye got an Emmy thanks to Palin. But don't want to spoil it for you. Enjoy the book.
Wow are you a shrink, because you are totaly full of phycho babble! I would never deni the system has tons of room to improve! But building the biggest entitlment ever is not the way! Less government is better government!
Normal people don't consider 45,000 dead people psycho babble unless they're Republicans. Elimination of regulations under both parties has caused many of the issues we now face. It's not a party line issue, it's a government corruption issue. Without regulations big corporations will with very few exception ass rape the planet, the country and you. They are "for profit" and exist only to generate greater profits at any cost. Wake up.
I love the "for profit" attempt to make Dr's evil! You want to have brain sugery by a guy making minimum wage and no insentive to do his best? Oh ya and "big buisness" not successful buisness so you vilify another employer who hires people and improves their lives! Keep going I am getting your points! hahaha
Go Howard! Well said. I have been waiting so long for this -- I have terrible health insurance but it is all I can afford right now. Keep working hard for us -- we appreciate it! I have so many friends who have worked hard but can't afford insurance at all. I keep telling people health care is killing our companies. They cannot compete with the rest of the world. The insurance companies really DO need to clean it up. Thank you!
PUBLIC OPTION !is the best but if you dont like it just buy something else.. there will always be private companys to go to...this is only for the uninsured and those who want it...I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE THINK THIS WILL LIMIT CHOICE? RIGHT NOW 47 MILLION PEOPLE HAVE NO CHOICE THEY HAVE NO HEALTHCARE AND YOU ARE PAYING THEIR WAY ALREADY!! AT LEAST WITH PUBLIC OPTION WE CAN PREVENT THESE PEOPLE FROM ENDING UP IN E.R. ..SUPPORT THE PUBLIC OPTION!!EITHER WAY WE WILL PAY WHY NOT GET BEST DEAL??
your argument has so many holes in it and democrat talking points that i dont even wanna justify your argument with a response. i will just end why dont you do the research and not just copying what you hear off the tv?
For those of you who want health care reform and wish to be more involved please visit my profile. I have listed several ways in which you can contact your representatives including phone numbers. I too would like to see a list of those who are in the pocket of the insurance companies and big Pharma. I have made a list of those dems who are standing in the way of this reform. I urge you all to call them all.
the biggest failures in the medical industry are all government programs. hmos medicare, the va, social security, malpractice litigation. if yo take the government out its actually a decent system not saying its perfect
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If universal health care is implemented, kiss your grand parents good-bye. It is on the backs of the seniors that savings will be found. Sounds good right now, but your turn will come sooner than one might imagine.
Medicare is what keeps your grand parents alive if they are not independently wealthy. And guess what? Medicare works! Expand Medicare for everyone! That is the right thing to do.
Our representative system was devised when it was difficult to communicate. This is no longer the case and congress needs to listen to people and not make decsions from personal whim.
About as clear as anybody I've heard state the situation, and I like what I heard from dean.
issues with stagnation in the quality of health care of the public plan would be shoved out by a need to compete with the private plan. Issues of "for profit corruption" through the private plan will by pushed aside by a need to compete with the public plan.
In theory it presents a tug of war that should result in a reasonable middle round. I think that's worth a shot!
If the problem is inflation then the solution is to not have fiat currency, not to pollute the market with yet another psudo-government corporation.
But whatever, it's your country to trash. The worst thing that could happen is the US Dollar not being the world currency. Which is your long term loss, not ours.
Yes! I think that a 2 teired system is a good alternative. However, a 2 teired system of health care does present some problems. For example, coverage for some medicatoins is denied to recipients of health care who cannot afford some brand names and often there is no generic equivalentcy to needed medication being prescribed. Another example would be alternative treatments and/or medications example.[accupuncture treatments, etc...] This can limit informed choices for the individual.
omg, i just think dean is amazing!!!

If there is no public option i the health care bill it is a pile of garbage bill.
Tell your democrat representatives that if they don't put it in the bill you will not vote for them next time around.
They are showing themselves to be part of the rich corrupt powers party with every action they take (along with the republicans).
Force them to do the right thing, because they do not want to.

bo stinks and so do his bigger goverment ideas.we need to vote all these jokers out.

there is a way to reform health care its called tort reform and malpractice litigation. thats how you reform healthcare.
i know what u all are thinking im some right wing nuit job. no im neither democrat or republican im against any government involment any anything. the real problem is the government not the insurance companies

AlNouveau 2 years ago
Couldn't have said it better myself. Howard Dean rocks.
philip0460 2 years ago
Those have to be reformed to eliminate frivolous claims but insurance companies need to profit. And how else do you profit then by paying out less? You're going to have to pay more and get out less for private insurance to profit. And thats one of the many issues. Government shouldn't be involved in anything? So they should privatize firefighter, police, military, education, roads, etc?
jxsilicon9 2 years ago
well you see your problem is with the insurance companies. fix them now lets completly change our midical system to government control becuse we hate insurance comapnies. government in the history of the world has never solved anything and only made things worse.
necrotic43 2 years ago
Governments like private companies have did both. Fix things and make some worse. And this exactly the problem. A public option isn't giving government control tot he medical system. There will still be private insurance. They have such a hybrid in France. Except ours won't even be close to government control. Has medicare destroyed private insurance? No
jxsilicon9 2 years ago
let me ask you this think real hard. how many people do you know who leave the us to get medical care in france?
people dont got o france for medical care people come here. maybe theres something to that
necrotic43 2 years ago
Which medical care? Routine medical care is pretty much the same in developed countries.I don't know anyone that comes to the US or goes to France. How about just taking the best parts of other systems? We don't have to copy everything? Kind of like what Japan did with business and consumer technology.
jxsilicon9 2 years ago
you see im all for healthcare reform i think it is needed but in no way is the government the answer for any part of it. you can regulate the insurance comapnies. turning hospitals into the post office and the dmv is not acceptable.
and one more point how do you expect to pay for this government system? the government as it is in extreme debt. why would you give the healthcarte system over to people who mismanage money to be that far indebt.
necrotic43 2 years ago
How do you figure that? Once again its not single payer. Private insurance will still be heavily involved. They will just have actual competition and a need to lower prices.Right now they can overcharge and kick you off if necessary. They said that they would change after the last attempt at health care reform. Republicans stopped the Clinton reform and we are now paying even more and the private companies haven't done anything. This is the only real option.
jxsilicon9 2 years ago
its single payer becuse the bill itself says its nsingle payer. if you dont believe me look it up.
compitition between pirvate and public theres a difference government doesnt need to make a profit. futhermore every employer out there will off load its healthcare demands onto the public system. im not a republican but the republiucans can stop anything at all your problem is with the dems. they have the total majority control even if the rpublicans all vote no it still dooesnt matter.
necrotic43 2 years ago
This is really simple. In a for profit system companies make money by not approving or providing services. Paying for your treatment reduces they profits, is not in their best financial interest. You always have a better chance of getting proper treatment in a national health care system because it's not a for profit system. Not big executive salaries and no investor dividends to influence care decisions. It works for the rest of the industrial world, why not us?
AlNouveau 2 years ago
u know how to make it cheaper by paying for it yourself. i pay cash when i go to the doctor its always cheaper. you see im not arguing onthe behalf of the insurance companies i dont liek them either but i would rather not have insuance at all and go back to paying for things yourself and responcibility for yourself.
it doesnt work for the rest of the world. there are sever problems with their systems. i dont even think i need to go into the problems of canadian or uk healthcare.
necrotic43 2 years ago
You confuse health care with Doctors, hospitals and technology. No one is saying our doctors suck or that overall our hospitals are bad. Health care reform is about getting access to those Doctors, hospitals and health care providers when you need it. So that if you get sick the insurance can't refuse you treatment or drop you from the plan. You don't want that then keep paying the insurance and hope for the best. But in our country no one should go bankrupt or worse die for lack of health care.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
you know as well as i do if you go to a hospital you will be treated whether you have insurance or even a job. the american system is in no way perfect but its still the best in the world.
we develop all the drugs, treatments and new technologies. we have the best hospitals in the world. you want to change that?
you see i agree with you one the insurqace comapnies. but government involvment in the history of the world is always bad. just make dems make a acceptable bill wit out any government
necrotic43 2 years ago
single payer and public option are a joke. It is all GOVERMENT OPTION and a bad idea! Tort reform and better common sense regulation!
john51880 2 years ago
to hell with your regulations complecating every god damned thing. your ways of thinkin are flawed. they are considered to be the old ways of thinking. And they have proven themselves to be deeply flawed over the years.. you don't need to have medical service a very complecated thing.. are you sick? go to the hospital and get better! and move on with life! the majority of your time should not be spent in a hospital. nor thinkin about how to pay for it. Those days are over !!
captcaveman4201 2 years ago
Nope! GOVERMENT OPTION will not improve anything. More costs, less quality, reduced access. No thanks! If you think healthcare costs to much now wait tell it is free! Asking for the goverment to act as middleman is pure stupidity! This is a power grab attempt the democrats don't give a dam about healthcare.
john51880 2 years ago
You're just confused John. A public option would allow people who choose it to have the government act as their insurance company. They see the same doctor and go to the same hospital as they do now. They just don't have to worry about their insurance coverage. Just like Medicare. No middleman, no increased costs, just heath care for all our citizens.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
if you want the government involved why dont they just give a tex deduction based off your healthcare premiums? that is the real way to go
the government can give my tax money back so i can shop for my own healthcare. the people under government control now the va, medicare,Native American health care, and the stats that already have some sort of government care. all those people will say how terribly these systems run
necrotic43 2 years ago
You still don't seem to understand. The only difference you have between what you have now and what you'd have with the public option is that you'd no longer be in danger of not getting treated or your treatments being covered. This is real simple. If you don't want to be in the program don't sign up. But why should you prevent others from having that choice?
AlNouveau 2 years ago
i dont fear not being coverd becuse anyone can go to the hospital and get treated and thats by law.
as ive said over and over. just give my tax money back so we can pay the insurance ourselves.
public option is only a delusion to let them control your life more.
necrotic43 2 years ago
But why would deny others from having the choice?
AlNouveau 2 years ago
ok the government giving a tax break to everyone who pays taxesfor their healthcare. is reasonable. if you dont pay taxes then you shouldnt get any help from the government.
the government is already going broke from wellfair, unemployment and food stamps.
ask youself this questiojn would you buy ur own insurance if the taxes u pay right now on ur pay check was givin back to you. isnt that reasonable. for the government to give your money back so you can make up your own mind about healthcare.
necrotic43 2 years ago
actually the goverment has spent trillions more on corporate welfare than for welfare for the poor. Food stamps actually is a good investment and has a higher return than cost. It is much smarter to have healthcare as a not for profit service much like our police or fire departments. everybody would benefit and it would cost a lot less.,
lisabob22 2 years ago
doctors they should get profit for incentive to be the best they can. in the end u will go to the best doctor not the cheap doctor.
doctors go to school alot longer then all the above. so they should go to school for 10 years or more so they can make 30k a year like some highly underpaid cop who i also believe is highly underpaid. you cant put a cap on doctors pay becuse you will ljust loose the doctors
necrotic43 2 years ago
NO way in hell! total bs!
john51880 2 years ago
The goverment option will kill all other choices! That is it's design. No insuance can compete with the GOVERMENT OPTION because they have no profit motive. Do you want to be treated by a dr. who has zero incentive to do his best because regaurdless of his preformance at the end of the month he gets the same amount. Minimum wage for dr's is a bad bad bad idea!
john51880 2 years ago

hospitals do not have to provide care. All they have to do is make sure you are stable. You can get treatment but it doesn't have to be good treatment. As educated people say let us have a single payer not for profit universal healthcare system and we will not go broke like we will under thye private insurance scam we have now
lisabob22 2 years ago
yes it has to be good treatment becuse you run into malpractice law.
we will go broke under the private insurance scam as you say but we will also go broke as a nation in a single payer universal healthcare system. you need to reform what is not change anything to government control

john51880 2 years ago
People in countries with a national health care system live longer that we do(45th). They have lower infant mortality rates than we do(44th). So we don't have the best health care system in the world, it is the most expensive though.
And they don't go bankrupt due to medical expenses. They don't get denied treatment due to preexisting conditions. It reduces manufacturing costs and makes their business community more competitive. This is a no-brainer but explains why the right don't get it.
AlNouveau 2 years ago

That's it? We piss away more than ever month on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. And even though the right likes wars we could be putting that money to better use. captcaveman4201 2 years ago
the facts are that every time a goverment runs healthcare the cost go down and the quality goes up. sorry the fact prove you wrong
lisabob22 2 years ago
bull! no you wont be treated.. or sure you will be treated but you are going to get a nice heafty bill commin in your mailbox! as for having the best drugs, treatments, new technologies..Those don't do jack squat for you if you are not given access to them..
captcaveman4201 2 years ago
You're still confusing health care and technology. Doctors, hospitals and technology are the components of a health care system. Health care reform is about having access to the system when you need it. We have a for profit health care system except for seniors and veterans. You get real sick and can't pay maybe you get treated maybe you don't. Maybe you need this new drug but it's a 1000 a week and you got no insurance, you're dead. With single payer you get the care not an excuse.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
Obama wants to take more money from the producers and give it to the leeches. He thinks redistribution of wealth = social justice. He was taught that nonsense as a kid. Now he lives it as a adult that thinks you're not responsible for your postition in life. This is about power not healthcare.
john51880 2 years ago 3
I'm supposed to respond to this? You call people leeches cause they don't have health insurance? That phony air of superiority, that bluster because you have health insurance and other Americans dont. You condescending tone more likely masks deep feeling of envy and self-loathing. You can continue to post the standard right wing talking points that Rush thought up for you, which every intelligent person knows are false. Every American regardless of status deserves health care, even you.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
The constituion does not and should not grant healthcare as a right. We need to redefine the scope of goverment. Remember what JFK said?" Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country" We have exspanded the goverment to gross levels. Spending is out of hand. Less goverment is better goverment.
john51880 2 years ago
Has nothing to do with the constitution. Does not even require government health care. Just regulate the industry like is currently done with utilities. Can't deny coverage, can't refuse for pre-existing conditions. Simple and already in use in Europe. Not government health care but designed to benefit the citizens not the CEO's. Problem solved.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
Who do you work for some health insurance co. that deny half the sick and raise the rate every yr.
mnuwar 2 years ago
No I am a guy who has spent the last 4 years in and out of hospitals. I have read tons on the subject. I have a favorite DR that was run out buisness because of government regulation that allowed nusance law suits to cripple his industrie. Government is the proublem not the answer! We need to streem line regulation and tort reform! The Government option is a nightmare of red tape and bloated regulation.
john51880 2 years ago
Tort reform has jack shit to do with anything. If your doctor kills you your family should be compensated. And the lack of anti-trust regulation is the reason there are so few choices for insurance in most states and such high costs. Bottom line everyone should have health care, period. No family should go bankrupt cause their kid got sick. That said I'm far less certain this administration can pull it off. Too much influence in both parties from all the special interests.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
Oh ya? realy? Any idea what cost% of every treatment is just to cover insurance for protection from law suits? When states went to mandatory car insurance the costs went up! Now porttability is a great idea and allowing competition nation wide not state to state I am all for! But if you think tort reform will not help your crazy! Or a injury lawyer!
john51880 2 years ago
Nope, no idea. Roughly 45,000 people die each year from botched medical procedures. Everybody pays for that, but it's not the patients fault and the family should be compensated fairly for the loss. Explain where I'm wrong.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
Looser pays will bring a halt to most ambulance chasers! You sue, you loose, you pay all costs! Oh and I googled your number and worded it 5 ways. Near I can tell it is more like 5000 not 45,000. You could lower healthcare cost 15% by capping dammages!
john51880 2 years ago
Guess again, my number is accurate and only includes procedures performed in hospitals. The total is closer to 250,000 when you include infections and drug errors and the like. Google accidental deaths caused by physicians.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
So by your own post you admit you are slanting the number! You are lumping infections and drug errors in??? Hey pal I hate to break it to you but being born is fatal, No one gets out alive! You could include car accidents in just for shits and giggles, Your number would still be worthless!
john51880 2 years ago
Simpler to just admit you were wrong.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
Typical right wing speak. You don't do numbers or statistics that don't prove your point. Did you know you have something in common with Sara Palin, congratulations.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
Hey did you happen to see her book sold more in prerelease than any in history? Got to love Sara!
john51880 2 years ago
The only thing she wrote in that book is maybe her name. She's dumb as a box of rocks.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
That is why the left has to attack her every chance they get. She has to be distroyed because she is dumb? hahaha Come on. Even you don't believe that! Sara is a huge threat to the democrats because she made it and did not need them, does not think like them and fights them!
john51880 2 years ago
Nobody needs to attack Palin, she sez plenty enough stupid shit all by herself and everybody except the delusional right knows it. She's a dream come true for the Democrats. They pray she runs and gets the nomination. Then she bailed out of her first term as Governor. It's too perfect, you couldn't make this up it's almost too good. She's the best thing since Dan Quale. She should have done a comics strip instead of a book. You can't seriously think she'd ever get elected again do you?
AlNouveau 2 years ago
Yes! I think the more you attack her the better chance she has! Notice how the feminist groops stay silent when they should be outraged at the attacks on her children. The Quale analogy is classic liberal wishfull thinking!
john51880 2 years ago
Like I said, no attacks necessary. She paraded her kids around and she just got what she asked for, attention. She's a media hound. And wishful think? Tina Faye got an Emmy thanks to Palin. But don't want to spoil it for you. Enjoy the book.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
Wow are you a shrink, because you are totaly full of phycho babble! I would never deni the system has tons of room to improve! But building the biggest entitlment ever is not the way! Less government is better government!
john51880 2 years ago
Normal people don't consider 45,000 dead people psycho babble unless they're Republicans. Elimination of regulations under both parties has caused many of the issues we now face. It's not a party line issue, it's a government corruption issue. Without regulations big corporations will with very few exception ass rape the planet, the country and you. They are "for profit" and exist only to generate greater profits at any cost. Wake up.
AlNouveau 2 years ago
I love the "for profit" attempt to make Dr's evil! You want to have brain sugery by a guy making minimum wage and no insentive to do his best? About as clear as anybody I've heard state the situation, and I like what I heard from dean.
issues with stagnation in the quality of health care of the public plan would be shoved out by a need to compete with the private plan. Issues of "for profit corruption" through the private plan will by pushed aside by a need to compete with the public plan.
In theory it presents a tug of war that should result in a reasonable middle round. I think that's worth a shot!
Unless i missed something!
