  • She must have definately blowjobbed her way up in Starfleet hierarchy.

  • I just read the actresses bio,she spent 12 years going to school in a convent that was oppressive and limited self expression.

  • I hope she was left behind in the delta quadrant. She'd have no chance against the borg!

  • She looks like she just woke up

  • She could have been more wooden, but only with effort. Jeeze, she sucked.

  • Oh hi, Displacement Wave!

    Tommy Wiseau would be proud

  • Star Trek Voyager was dull enough without her

  • @randomdave30 don't diss voyager you nerd. 'Twas a great show just like next generation, ds9 and archers enterprise.

  • Funny that both Captain Janeway and Captain Jean-Luc Picard were essentially French characters(Janeway was originally French)eventually played by two Celtic descended actors?

  • She may have been suffering from jet-lag.She did cite the difficulty in traveling between France and California as the reason she didn't take the job.

  • my god, this is...horrible....just...no enthusiasm

  • If star trek played with her instead of Kate Mulgrew... Heck I wouldn't know Star trek Voyager!!!

  • ..... that was horrible it almost ruined my memories!

  • what the fuck!?!

  • she would have been the much more convincing cpt janeway

  • I couldn't have imagined her as Captain Janeway, because it looks like she absolutely lacks in enthusiasm for this role. Hard to believe that she was their first choice.

  • Thank fuck she didnt get to play Janeway.

  • She doesn't even try omg.

  • to be fair, she was much better in the 60s and 70s.

  • This lady can't act, I'm so glad they got Kate Mulgrew to play Janeway.

  • wow... the Star Trek franchise must have been on crack even considering this woman. Kate Mulgrew was phenomenal as Janeway... just the right mix of toughness, intelligence, a stiff upper lip and a bit hard to reach, but still caring and compassionate... exactly what a female captain would have to be in an all-boys club. As the seasons went on, we go to know what made her tick. I'm a die-hard old school original series fan from way back, but this show became my fave of the bunch.

  • Wow, this woman was completely devoid of emotion -- brought no life and presence to the role of Captain Janeway. Maybe she was partly assimilated by the Borg collective before she took command of Voyager (if so, I can see why even the collective might disconnect her from the hive mind...=)).

  • she sounds bored out of her god damned mind. Nonthing aginst the women. But this is honestly painfull.

  • That's not bored, that's just some plain old shitty acting. WTF were they thinking with this woman?

  • If I'd been sent onto the set made up to look like that, I'd be pissed too. I'm not surprised she quit.

  • It was a clever idea to have a female captain who wasn't American. Too bad they picked the wrong actress for the part. Hard to see why she even took the part as she seems so in over her head and disinterested. Kate Mulgrew made for a great captain though.

  • She sounds Vulcan....

  • Holy fuck, was she stoned?

  • Comment removed

  • she sounds like a bored old lady ,u can feel that shes not intrested

  • @miloootic i agree that she does not seemingly come off to be a good janeway, but in regard to your comment about her being uninterested, i dont know.. this seems to be her natural acting characteristics. i think she is sufficiently interested, but she is just calmer, more relaxed, quieter, etc. this is probably how she just acts though i admit to not seeing anything else of her

  • I know she got the part...but SO GLAD that something happened, she's a pushover compared to Kathryn Janeway. Look up BORING in the dictionary and you get this chick!

  • This actor along with Mulgrew's unique 70s old teacher voice Janeway would've completed her character being nothing but that XD

  • Paramount made the best decision, as did the original actress. Kate Mulgrew had more flair and a better sense of the dramatic.

  • why is her voice so low? you can barely even hear her

  • who the hell cast this woman in the first place? shes a HUGE snore! she might be okay in another role but not this one! She should have played an alien instead. LOL@her Red alert! that was so tired

  • wow shes got nothing on Kate Mulgrew! Kate was so fiery in the role! All of herl ines were exciting even ones that would normally be boring. Kate was also very warm and endearing. Anyway what happened to this "Nicole" actress? did she quit or did they kick her to the curb?

  • Eeew, Hopefully "Nicole" Janeway got lost in that wormhole elsewhere, & thank God that she NEVER got the part. Katherine Janeway ROCKS!

  • @coffeequeen71 she DID get the part! thats why shes on here, but I think she quit or something then they gave it to Kate Mulgrew! and thank GOD for that because Kathryn Janeway is THEE BEST!

  • Bujold rocks, but clearly not here.

  • Man she's terrible!...no empowerment in her character!, and the way she said on screen? soo very plain!

  • @LowellMorgan Didn't I already write for you to shut the fuck up? Now get the nfuck out of my face and go play with your did or something.

  • @rachelsOne wow, nice act rachelsOne... you are sooo angrez and in teh face... I read your profile. Choice quote "YOU Can't See Me! So THINK before you start writing a stupid comment." HAHAHAHAHAAH!!!! You are crazy, picking fights with people you don't even know, who agree with you....

  • @CHADOW66 How fucking lonely are you that you don't think I see your transparent ruse to get my attention? Get Lost Loser.

  • @rachelsOne Again with the personal attack! Calling me lonely! You are too much. Is that all you have inside, anger and aggression? Again your profile quote "YOU Can't See Me! So THINK before you start writing a stupid comment." HAHAHAHAHAAH!!!! "

  • @rachelsOne transparent ruse? I don't need your attention. I was just calling out the a-holery you displayed by lashing out needlessly, calling people dumb or liars for expressing an opinion different than yours.

  • @CHADOW66 You OBVIOUSLY DO Need my attention because you keep sending me messages hoping for a response. Make this one last because it IS the LAST. Acting like you were a part of the original conversation (NOT) Pffft

  • @rachelsOne great profile quote "YOU Can't See Me! So THINK before you start writing a stupid comment."

  • wow glad she was not chosen, not believable at all.

  • Yuk, Kate Mulgrew much better

  • Bujold rocks. I love her acting and I can see why the producers attempted casting her, and that DNA lives on in Mulgrew's perf. Bujold and/or this interpretation is clearly not right for the role. Kate Mulgrew was great. But I see and hear the essence of what the producers wanted from Capt. Janeway in Bujold. Mulgrew brought it out more assertively.

  • Okay people. Let's understand something. Bujold had a big career in the 60's - 80's. She's an excellent actress, but is TOTALLY disinterested here. She gives a lousy performance here and she knows it. A couple of days on set and she realized this was not for her. You want to see her really act? Watch "Anne of the Thousand Days", "The Trojan Women" or "Dead Ringers".

  • @AppallingRetroTrash Agreed. She gives me chills. But then, crazy I am a child of the "Earthquake" & "Coma" era. Loved her in those. Dead Ringers too, but that movie was rough. I should see it again

  • Kate Mulgrew was perfect, and I can imagine how Sigorney Weaver or Glenn Close could be the captai, do you guys can imagine it ? Greetings from Brasil.

  • She would make a great science officer, but i don't sense any command presence in her.

  • I dont really like her, she hasnt got that spark of like Kate does, the hair, the expression, the meloncoly voice. Kate just had this way of sounding like a bitch but loving at the same time. Although looking at her audition it wasnt that great either. But Im beyong happy that this woman did NOT become the captain. The show would have been lacking what made it the best out of all the star treks.

  • @johnnydepphotas I agree that this show was the best of all Treks, but I love Bujold, tho clearly this is the wrong interpretation. Kate was amazing as Janeway... 7 of 9, Chakotay, et al soo many great characters and stories. The Series end blew me away. I kept it on my DVR untill it broke.

  • @CHADOW66 To YOU this is the wrong interpretation, but by the same token you are giving your analysis on You Tube, clearly you don't have expertise in this area or else you'd be a professional at this. I have always been a fan of Bujold and I find nher calm focused approach indicative of a responsibile commander.

  • @rachelsOne Why are u attacking me? U know nothing about me or my experience level. You are posting on YouTube too, does that invalidate your comment? Please. I worked in the movie biz for 25 years in NYC. My experience level is just fine. I said I love Bujold. Do a little research. She couldn't stand it. She walked off the set after it was clear the tone wasn't working, and it shows in the clip. It isnt working.

  • @CHADOW66 I believe that I know enough, yes I AM posting on thjis site also but I am not pretending to be an expert like you ae. See you couldn't even fugure that much out onm your own.

  • @rachelsOne Again, why are you so aggressively attacking me, calling me a liar? We are talking about an actress we BOTH like. Its like you want to start a fight or something. I don't get it. You started by insulting my opinion as obviously having no expertise. I have posted nothing to attack you and yet you come back at me saying I am pretending to be something I am not. To the very best of my abilities, I live honestly, openly, and truthfully. I am sorry that you lash out so easily. Its sad.

  • @CHADOW66 Seriously? You claim to be this adfult but you couldn't figure out what mativated me to make my initial comment? Only babies cry: "Why are you being so measn to me?" Grow up get a clue FIGURE IT OUT AND STOP SENDING ME MESSAGES.

  • @rachelsOne No, I couldn't figure out "what mativated you to make your initial comment". Hahah, I'm not sending you messages. I'm responding in a public forum to someone who is apparently an angry drunk or something. You can barely type you are so unhinged. I looked at your profile. I get the shtick... all angry and edgy, all pro gay liberal rough and tumble, look out anyone who disagrees cause I will bring it.... whatever. What exactly "mativated" you to jump all over my post? Self Examination.

  • @rachelsOne I'm trying to communicate like an adult, yet you continue with the personal attacks. You call me a cry baby, framing my question "why did you aggressively attack my post" as my feelings being hurt at you being mean. Are you used to being tagged a mean girl?

  • @CHADOW66 Really? 25 years? So give up a brief synopsis of screenplay structure, it can be done in 500 words or less. U can list the important elemnts of a screenplay.

  • @CHADOW66 Oh yeah like Im going to believe the credentials of a liar on YouTube.

  • Kate Mulgrey is better; much more commanding and decisive.

  • This woman is putting me to sleep!

  • The most robotic performance I've ever seen!

  • @lyte86 I've seen Borg drones have more emotion than she does...=)

  • good thing they don't choose her as the role of the captain, sounds so weak

  • That is not Voyager! Tom as first officer, this must be one of the doctor's hallucinations, soon the captain will be incapacitated and the ECH will arrive

  • Comment removed

  • Well at least I now know what to listen to if I ever need help going to sleep at night.

  • she is being very soft and elegant... definitely not a good fit for this role or for any starfleet captain

  • What the hell? That's the most disinterested "red alert" I've ever heard. This woman gets out-acted by a hypospray.

  • So. Much. Better. Than. Mulgr...Ew.

  • According to reports I've read who said she wasn't used to the workload of episodic tv, she probably didn't want to be on the set...and it CLEARLY shows on film that she didn't wanna be there. Kate Mulgrew was happy to have consistent work, and she's much better at the part.

  • @RyanHMarshall well making a tv show can be more demanding in ways than a movie i would think, making a new episode every week

  • Oh my goodness, every time she opens her mouth I get an overwhelming desire to fall aslee...... zzzzzzz

  • Good Lord...It sounds (& looks) as though she's just not bothered - May just have well as posted her delivery in!

  • ugh, seriously? she sounds bored. and it sounds like she's over enunciating... her attitude is way too passive.

  • I would not have watched this with her...gross

  • not nearly psychotic enough to do janeway

  • Thank goodness they used Kate instead!!

  • she sounds like a vulcan and not in a good way

  • LMAO Would have never bothered watching Voyageur with a captain like that.

  • Really glad they went with Kate Mulgrew. Genevieve isn't terrible but she could've been better.

  • She's completely lacking the strength and presence a ship's captain should have. She looks and acts like an ensign.

  • Wow... she is a REALLY bad actor.

    Not believable at all.

    Mulgrew FTW

  • its obvious she didn't even learn the lines, she was just looking for the big payday,i'm suprised it took them two scenes to shitcan her

  • I use to like Geneviève Bujold but here she doesn't seem to be into it. The ship is in danger and she gives orders like she is ordering a cup of coffee. She doesn't have the command of a captain.

  • she gave it her best but she's too short. Sorry Bujold but it isn't good that EVERY crew member looks down on you (even the ensigns)

  • Bujold is fantastic. Good for her that she quit this series. I saw the first episode of this series and yawn....

  • she sucks she has about as much emotion as a vulcan

  • Wow, I couldn't imagine 7 seasons of that.

The woman's voice is just so dull, and lifeless, monotone, and down.

She's also small-framed. While Kate Mulgrew is not a tall person, nor weighty in any respect, this woman is short, and thin, and just doesn't look like she could have convincingly pulled off being the captain for 7 years.

  • This is awful. Just... awful. Voyager was pretty darn watchable, in retrospect. Maybe we're too hard on it. Actually -- I kinda like all the actors. It was the lame writing that sucked. They should have let Ron Moore do whatever he wanted.

  • It's hard to believe that this actress has been in the business for decades.

  • She has no passion at all..

  • wow that is nasty.. thank god for kate

  • EW YUCK. Can you imagine her and Commander Chakotay on New Earth...

  • That was awful

  • 1. The added sounds are great, but maybe a bit loud relative to the dialogue.

    2. Holy crap, thank God they canned this woman.

    3. What is with the 'redshirt' 1st officer making a mad dash across the bridge after Janeway says "brace for impact"? It's even more hilarious in the finished pilot, 'cause he kind of leaps at the end. That's another thing they should have cut after viewing this.

  • Wow, she sucks ass. Glad Kate took it - the French always come off as sounding a little, well slightly retarded....

  • I get the impression that she realised just after signing the contract that she didn't want to do it, so sleepwalked her way through this being awful so she could get herself out of the show easier.

  • Definitely not captain material. Maybe she could've played an alien role or something, but dear god, why did they choose her over Mulgrew in the first place? Maybe her audition was awesome.

    Funny how these things happen.

  • in comparison with cathrine, she looks like she's on prozac

  • im so glad she didnt make it. katherine IS the capt. then the helsman, as hot as she it, should have made it

  • im so glad she didnt make it. katherine IS the capt.

  • Thank God Kate Mulgrew got this role and not Bujold!! How did she get it in the first place??

  • Holy cow. I was never a fan of Mulgrew's Janeway... her voice, her personality, her demeanor... but at least she HAD a voice, personality, and demeanor! This woman is... I don't know, an animated cardboard golem or something. Just zero presence. I guess they really did go with the lesser evil.

  • she looks like she's about 3 feet tall

  • Geneviève Bujold sucked.

  • I don't know what's dryer, her delivery or her old cooch.

  • I couldn't even make out what she was saying.

  • It's not 'on screen...' it's 'ON SCREEN'

She doesn't have the right volume in her voice.. If that even makes sense..

  • @Cascas645 She lacks the assertive punch, the ability to command by tone alone, she sounds sedated and slightly disinterested. Mulgrey was much better as a Captain.

  • @LowellMorgan I agree 100%!

  • @LowellMorgan I thought her last name was Mulgrew, but whatever.

  • @LowellMorgan You sound sedated shut the fuck up acting as if you're some kind of expert when you're just another kid on You Tube.

  • @rachelsOne Bujold? Is that you?

  • @LowellMorgan NO, what the fuck is wrong with you? Now you think you know who is responding also? See you don't know a damn thong about anything do you?

  • @rachelsOne You seriously need to calm down and stop caring so much about what people you don't know write on youtube message boards. Go get some exercise, enjoy some quality food, or have sex with someone you like.

  • Zzzzzzzzz....

  • Genevieve Bujold is a FANTASTIC actor! She simply was not into it. If she had been, I cannot imagine anyone doing any better...she's THAT good! Check her out in ANNE OF THE THOUSAND DAYS, COMA, DEAD RINGERS and CHOOSE ME...genius. Don't be idiotic because of her dry-run in this: get educated, and as William Shatner said on SNL: GET A LIFE, PEOPLE!!!

I have loved Kate since the ill-fated MRS. COLUMBO...

  • @ChrisOtheBigC Oh, and by the way: Bujold knew her heart wasn't in it, so she QUIT.

  • @ChrisOtheBigC Are you arguing with your self?

  • @TheToddy30 What are you talking about?

  • @ChrisOtheBigC I agree. I loved Bujold's performance in Anne of the Thousand Days. She is a wonderful actress, but obviously did not want to do Star Trek or at the very least a long running television series. As I understand it, she didn't even have to audition for the part. Perhaps if she had, they may have gone with somone else to start with.

  • "Analysis"... WHERE IS THE FUCKING VOICE! She is horrible in this.

  • I like Geneviéve Bujold as an actress, but clearly, she wasn't right for the part. Kate Mulgrew brought so much more passion and believability to the role...my two cents.

  • Uh why was this woman cast as Janeway in the first place?

  • WOW! Voyager wouldn't have made it past season 1. That was really bad. Mulgrew wasn't perfect at first, but she at least showed some hope. All the Star Trek Captain's had rough first seasons. But they all grew with their respective show and are now TV CLASSICS. I miss any star trek on TV, come on Paramont, come back with a series for SfFy channel.

  • this is one hell of a slow talking captain, why did they even cast her?

  • Uggh i hate Janeway.. no matter who the actress is

  • Dear God, that was such a dry performance. Paris Hilton could've done a better job than Bujold.

  • Oh my! This would have been a disaster!

  • Anyone else reminded of Ricky Bobby's first interview in Talledega Nights? It's like she doesn't know what to do with her hands and is just mumbling in monotone.

  • She Sounds Like Data's Mother.....

  • The helmsman would have been a better captain than this woman

  • It turns Kate Mulgrew was better suited for the role of Janeway after all. I mean Genevieve Bujold was good in Dead Ringers but she's dreadful here, reciting her lines in an monotone French-Canadian accent like she's zonked out on Valium! Maybe her heart just wasn't in the material. Kate brought more emotion to the role.

  • I'm glad that she wasn't Janeway, Bujold sounds really old and boring.

  • Interesting! She is an good actress, but Kate was more suited for this role.

  • I like cheeseburgers.

  • Kate Mulgrew all the way.

  • Bad Casting, I love this Actress but Kate Mulgrew was much better. Geneive Bujold's accent was too much. But I love Her too!

    Mark

  • With all due respect and based on a 2 minute video, but Kate Mulgrew seemed to bring so much more character to the character.

  • @OmegaDude22 Do get all apologetic. We are ALL thinkin that. This woman has no emotion, no feeling, no ..substance. Thank god she wasnt on for the pilot

  • Thank god she did not continue unless they werew planning to kill her off in the first episde

  • It took me a while to get used to KM, but she grew on me.

Madam Bujold's performance seems quite wooden and dispassionate by comparison. She's an excellent actress, but not in this role.

  • lol, Tom Paris occupies the Captains Chair during the impact, so the poor Commander can't grab a seat in time and dies - reminds me of a lethal version of musical chairs haha - You killed him Tom!

  • @killeen21 No he doesn't.

Voyager's command bench has two seats without backs, one to the left of the First officer's chair and one to the right of the Captain's chair. Tom took the one to the right of the Captain's chair and Kavit was running for his chair to the left of Janeway.

  • @viperhalberd looks like you're right, the camera angle gave a wrong impression, my bad. :P

  • Damn this woman dull, it's like she trying to translate a foreign text book to English!

LOL, she almost put me in a Coma!!!

  • @MrOwwl

oh yes I remember that movie.

  • @MrTabby5000

    LoL ...... Im so old

  • They originally picked her over Kate Mulgrew? It's hard not to be bias since I've seen all the Voyager episodes with "Katherine Janeway" instead of "Nicole Janeway" but I really can't picture Bujold making this series work.

  • I don't think I have ever heard anything so boring.

  • its like watching the french version of my favorite show

  • Jesus christ that woman is boring. How on earth did she make it through casting? Must have been the cheaper option!

  • she could be probably a good guest captain.. but not the star

  • Well im just in love with janeway so you all know what im going to say next!

  • I think I understand her intent here. She was trying to be cool, calm and collected- as a captain should be. I'd like have seen her during the decision to destroy the array and after when she has to make that speech to the crew before saying, "Set a course...for home". While I can't imagine "Voyager" withouth Kate Mulgrew, I think it's a bit unfair to judge Bujold too much. It took me 2 seasons to get used to Marina Sirtis on TNG...just sayin'!!

  • Ufff... she really didn't want to be there, did she? I don't think I would bother to watch another episode after a beginning like that and I'm all about giving new series a chance...
