  • Why do these guys ignore Jesus' words when he said that we will be judged based on our works??

    Jesus said that works are more important than beliefs.

  • James was never talking to the un saved who are void of the Spirit to understand scripture.There is not any scripture for any man without the Spirit unless of course they are the elect.You can use proverbs etc for reason.But the scripture is not for the non elect ever .James can only write the divine ordained Word to those of the Spirit to respond.That is really bad theology that james is writting to depraved sinners to understand holiness

  • Ask a depraved sinner to repent, from a mind not one with God?.Mark was talking to the Jew under kingdom law.There is no such thing as a man born again who is not given the gift of repentance.How does one depraved repent from a sick mind.Repentance cannot blot sin that is man involved repentance.David is not the grace Gospel David was never given the Spirit permanently.Mark 1:15 is for Jews not the gospel of grace Jesus never preached the gospel of the Church in Mark's gospel

    Right off the bat...Ray uses scripture to prove his point ... Mark 1:15 OUT OF CONTEXT. He doesn't pay attention to what Jesus meant when he said repent...it was not...stop drinking, chewing tabacco, cussing...

    People are desperately trying to give Ray the Biblical definition...but, there is a deafness unbelievable going on.

    You need to take each use of the word in the Bible in context.

    NO...you do not repent of sin to be saved...no!

    THat creates FALSE CONVERTS TOO!!

  • I don't see how he took it out of context. The argument is about what repentance is.

    Jesus said: "Go and sin no more".

    "Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity." (2. Tim. 2:19).

    Repentance is granted by God (2. Tim. 2:25). We can't do it by our own power.

    Whoever is in Christ is a new creature, and has a new heart with new desires (2. Cor. 5:17, Ezek. 36:26-27).

  • "I am the vine, all of you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me all of you can do nothing." (John 15:5).

  • "Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits all of you shall know them." (Matt. 7:17-20).

  • "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionists, shall inherit the kingdom of God.     Don't you have to deny many verses in order to believe in easy believism / free grace?

    We have to look for what is true, not what we want to be true:

    "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." (2. Tim. 4:3-4).

  • In light of these verses, and many others, I don't see how you can say repentance means anything else than turning away from sin and turning towards God: To confess and forsake our sin.

    I was deceived into thinking I was saved until Ray Comfort, Bill Wiese and Paul Washer opened my eyes. I thought you only had to believe, and I was practicing a lot of habitual sin. I didn't read my Bible a lot either.

    When I discovered I had been deceived, it literally felt like scales fell from my eyes.

    1.What's your motivation for posting this passage?

    2.What's the context of that passage of Scripture?

  • Just as a question though, does 2 Timothy 2:19 say "let every one that departs from iniquity name the name of Christ." or "let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

    My biggest pet peeve with the teaching of the Way of the Master is especially in this clip they mention that you have to turn from sin first BEFORE you trust Christ as Saviour.

  • We shouldn't de emphasize the importance of turning from sin for the Christian, but they (and many LS teachers) fail to discern the difference between regeneration/justification and sanctification. I doubt that Ray Comfort really has read Romans chapter 7, Galatians 5, the whole Gospel of John and I John but cherry picks verses on repentance so called to justify his theology.

  • - when spurgeon and other great precher of the past preached repentance as the first and formost priority coming to Christ we had born again ,on fire for God servants reaching out to the lost.the modern church has forsaken repentance and look at the churches today.here in wales we have declined over 100 years so greatly due to this weak ,watered down message wgich is not the gospel.REPENT OR PERISH.
