No, only in the GSC games. In Gen IV, there is something called the Masuda Method, where if you breed a Pokemon with another from a different part of the world (i.e. USA and Japan), the baby will have a 1 in 2048 chance of being a shiny. In Black and White, it's 1 in 1366.

Do you have to beat round 2 to be able to use the dodrio speed up on g/s/c? Because I beat everything in round 1 and i was able to speed up when I played r/b/y but when i tried to play a second gen game, it wouldn't let me speed it up.

Yeah, you have to beat Round 2 completely to get Dodrio mode for GSC.

Hi there. I came across this link from gamespot, and after reading the other comments on this vid, you bred a shiny ditto with a charizard. There are a few things I want to clear up. 1. What was the gender of Charizard you initially bred with - Male or Female? 2. Did the shiny ditto and initial charizard have different IDs or not? leading on to... 3. Roughly how many steps did you have to wait between eggs being produced. i sometimes did 15 laps of goldenrod (72 steps x 15 = 1080) but no egg.

3. It takes a little bit over 5,000 steps to hatch the egg of a Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur.

The difference in ID Numbers only changes how fast you will be able to get the Egg.

Thanks for your feedback. I started using a Male charmander the other day, and i'm up to 10 egg hatches at the moment. i've also figured out how quickly an egg is produced is determined. random numbers between 1 and 255 are picked each time ur pokemon is left at day care. for each step 1 is taken away until 0. then another random number is picked. if the number randomly selected is less than 63, an egg will be produced. (127 if same pkmn different id, 96 if same pkmn same id and...

32 if different pkmn and same id. therefore u have roughly a max of 50:50 chance of an egg being produced after 255 steps (if u have same pkmn different id). whereas the minimum chance is 32/255 1 in 8 of an egg being produced if different pokmeon same id. my chances are 1 in 4, which were like yours. so 'on average' an egg should be produced in no more than every 1000 steps. but like i said it once took me about 20 laps of goldenrod before an egg was there, which is 1360 steps, lol. I have a ditto and the red gyaridos in there right now in hopes of getting the gold magikarp (put ever stone on it and go all the way to lvl 100 baby!) :) So would getting this shiny ditto even help more.

All I can say is keep trying for that shiny Magikarp, lol. And you can't breed two shinies in this gen, since breeding with one shiny already raises the chances a lot.

To get a shiny Ditto, first you need to delete all of the shiny Pokemon's (Gyarados is easiest) moves (except for one, and it can't be a second gen move). Then trade it over to R/B/Y. Teach it Mimic, and then go find a wild Ditto.

Mimic its Transform, and the wild Ditto should Transform into Gyarados. Then you Transform, and hopefully Ditto will Transform into you again.

Then catch it, and you'll see it's HP is weird. Heal it, trade it over to G/S/C, and it should be shiny.

Alright thanks! Shame is I don't have a GLC to trade it, but I ordered one for like $7. Once you get it you'll have a better chance to get shiny pokemon with anything that breed with it so that's nice. Do you know anything on breeding times? Because I just circled Johto and my Ditto and Gyarados aren't "in the mood."

Yeah I think they are. I'm trying to get the Dodrio Tower on Stadium 2 so I can do this.

They are better than average. Their DVs (or IVs, whatever you call them, max for each stat is 15) for Attack, Special (both Sp. Attack and Sp. Def.), and Speed are 10, and Attack can range from being 2 to 15, and HP can be 0 or 8 (I think that's what it is).

So yeah, it's Attack can be the only maxed out stat, or can be the worst.
