Oh yes, I know this eccomi! I have it, but I didn't want to upload it, because the quality is veeeery bad! I think it's from Paris TCE in January 2008
Actually, when I first got this recording, it said "early in career", so I think it really is from then (even though it didn't seem like she would sing that kind of stuff back then). But the higher notes do sound more effortless than how she sings them in the aria nowadays.
I would LOVE her to sing the whole role too, but yeah, who would sing Romeo? I know a lot of sopranos have mezzo buddies (i.e. Netrebko and Garanca, who then later did "I Capuleti" together), but who would Dessay do it with? I don't know, maybe someone like Didonato, Bartoli, Kasarova as you say...? That would be great. I really love this aria too, especially when Dessay sings it. It's really something!
The reverb doesn't sound like Barbican reverb, but she did get sharp often in the piece, which could be the result of her nervousness that she had at Barbican, so i'm unsure!
Yeah, I agree...and also she does something strange at 6:10 with the descending scale that she doesn't normally do. What the orchestra does here doesn't sound like what Pido did with his orchestra on the CD too, so I'm wondering if it's someone different conducting too? What a mystery...
Una registrazione e sempre una dolce illusione.

Yay someone knows! Yeah...the skips are horrible and her voice sounds garbled sometimes...but it's still lovely! Thanks for telling me!

I think this is from Musiques au coeur at her early years in 90s.

I would love for her to sing the whole role. I wonder who would play Romeo though; maybe Kasarova?
This is one of the best arias that she sings. I love it!
