Wisdom teeth is a leftover trait from ancient ancestor apes that had bigger jaws, our jaws have become shorter as we have evolved, but we still get wisdom teeth, this causes problems since there is not enough room in the mouth and sometimes have to be removed. although some humans don't get them, a sign that evolution is at work. Aborigenes for example don't get them.

I would've liked it if they explained why some people have less than the 4 wisdom teeth (or in my case none at all!), particularly if they're supposed to have a specific purpose in our mouth, and considering that Western Diets have only really become different in the last few hundred years.

I got all 4 taken out at once...BIG MISTAKE...I was in so much pain and couldn't eat for like a week...I literly lived on water

This dentist did not answer this question correctly ,he needs some knowledge about evolution ,then may be he will be able to explain little bit better,hopefully.

@crazyworld05 actually our bodies can adapt themselves to a certain point independently (eg muscle growth, the fact that people who ride horses since child have a few extra bones in pelvic area and things like that) so yeah, the diet can actually make a difference in our teeth

I got my left top wisdom tooth removed, and will be getting the right one out too. Apparently my mouth is too small for them.
