It's not hard, I actually bought this game when it came out. The game includes step by step videos on how to do them. You can even watch them in the middle of the operation using that unidentified black box on the instrument stand. You may as well be Dr. Nick Riviera.

Actually, you can leave out the (today) qualifier. The parts that are broken were always broken. It has nothing to do with running on a new OS or new hardware. As bad as it is, it runs more stable now than it ever did on release. Not surprising, considering it started out as a buggy win3.1 game (that's why it uses winG). v1.1 was supposed to improve win32 compatibility, but that broke the ability to run it on 3.1, and actually added a few new bugs.
