Hi, I hope someone can help with some advice. I'm currently suffering with my 5th case of cellulitis. Always in my left foot due to an injury from 8 years ago. I try to avoid cuts and always take care of my feet but try as I might the infection always returns. Does anyone know of some pain relieving techniques for this. When I have a flare up I'm on vicodin for pain relief but it only helps somewhat. The pain is almost unbearable and anything anyone can offer that would help would be welcome.
I first learned about it when I got a tattoo and my whole leg blew up within 24 hours. Got to spend the night in the ER getting pumped with IV antibiotics, and then a course of oral antibiotics. I waited a year, and went back for another sitting (multi session tattoo) and the same thing happened again. So to my knowledge this isn't a "curable" thing.
I was told that the infection was caused by the native (Healthy) bacteria overpopulating the site of the tattoo.
I had never heard about this, until my 3 year old daughter got it. This realy sucks, it started off as a little red and the bottom of her leg that was thursday,i thought nothing was wrong maby a bug bite, but I was so wrong when she woke up at 6am with a temp of a 103.4 and the little red thing was a huge rash going up her leg, i took her stright to the er and was there untill monday, she was on a very strong meds through her iv which realy hurt, i hope never to go through this again my baby@
OMG how horrible that your daughter got this stuff! I hope that she never gets it again. You should always watch for any scratches on her legs because thats where the infection starts. Sometimes it happens that quick but you did the best thing for her and she got the attention she needed. Thanks for sharing your story with me! Have a great day!
this is the 1st time I've been diagnosed with Celluitis and mine is on the left side of my head, and neck! I'm on a week's worth of anti-biotics, and now my entire left side of my body is swollen! how long does it take to get better, and can this event reoccur?
I hope you are feeling better. My Mom has been suffering with cellulitis and lymphadema for the past 2 years. Its horrible and I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. Were you in a lot of pain too?? My Mom experiences massive pain from it. Also, are you still on a consistant low dose of antibiotics??? My Mom's cellulitis heals up and then always returns with a vengeance. do you have any suggestions to get rid of it for good?? Thanks
I had this a few months ago but the oral anti-biotics seems to have cleared it up but it left the skin on my shins very dry and cracked and looking like alligator skin. Is that commom after a bout with this? What can i put on my skin to make it better?
the first time i had this it was cured by 1 course of oral antibiotics. im not so lucky this time. these drs only give 10 days of antibiotics and w/in a few days its back again. im being tested for bloode clots in the vein.does anyone know of any alternative therapys?
What antibiotic are you on? If its not cured with another round of antibiotics they may need to put you on iv antibiotics, you can always ask your doctor about it. I don't know of any other treatment. I hope you feel better soon though. Take care! Kellie
It does indeed suck. Mine started with athlete's foot (of all the silly minor afflictions). The skin broke and the bacteria got in and my poor left leg looks and feel like shit, it's getting better though after I spent 4 days in the hospital on an IV of Vancomycin (strongest antibiotic available. So I whole heartedly sympathize and hope my recovery goes faster, I've been home from the hospital for 3 days now and taking my prescriptions faithfully. - Matthew
Sorry to hear you have this yucky stuff but I hope it is getting better. I actually have been lucky in not had it since going to the hospital in June. BUT....I noticed my foot was bothering me last night & now it is halfway up my calf. I tried calling my doc all day with no luck so I may end up having to go to the hospital too. Have you run a tempature? Good luck, hope you feel better soon!
I did originally before the leg actually flared up with blisters. I thought it was some sort of flu bug at first and then all hell broke loose on my leg. Yeah, I'm on the mend, it just seems like it's taking forever, I suppose it's mostly because I've never had anything like this before. Thanks I appreciate the well wishes and hope you're gonna be ok as well.
I had breast cellulitis a few months after having breast surgery (lumpectomy) OMG it was horrible! I was in the hopital for almost a month. It started with a little rash, and within the hour it started to spread down my entire breast and then to my abdomen.
OMG that must have been horrible for you...I'm so sorry it happened. I have learn since being on here that I am blessed, there are so many on here who have had it much worse than me. Take care!
I applaud you on your very honest and insightful video about this issue. I wish you the best of health and that your problems subside as you lose weight and get healthier.
Thank you! It was a hard thing for me to do because I really looked like crap in those videos. But I think that doing these video blogs will make me much more committed to my goal ya know? Thank you for the positive feedback I really struggled with this knowing there were some people out there who would say some very ugly things but ya know that's life. Health and happiness to you and God bless! Kellie

Was the rash itchy?
ElizaKris 4 years ago
It was ocassionally itchy but for the most part it just was hot and hurt. I think it only itched because it was dry and swollen. Thanks!
