@charlie75125 You do need a licence for your specific frequency yes you do - also same with analogue radios. Some tetras will cover UK GEN 449MHZ so you can use them with a UK gen licence.
I have an MTH800 and cannot read it, as it tells me that my software does not support its codeplug verson.the software supports 6852-7084. my radios codeplug is 254.45.36.
do you need a licence to use the radio? what is the distance estimated at? and if I get two tetra radio can I simpley connect them togethor? also my last question is do these cost you to use them, like a special sim card i know its not on a normal network but have seen some that have simcard slots for a special network? Thanks
can anyone tell me if I try turning on an MTH800 when the battery is flat will this delete the "flash"? I am told that this has happened to my set and I need them reprogramming? Can anyone tell me if this is true or am I being told a load of crap?
@nokiaman2002 I thought as much? The set I dont think is faulty but with no power getting to them how am I supposed to find out? The TEI numbers are ok and the radio reads CLEAR just behind the battery where the TEI is located. The seller has agreed to repair the sets for me at a cost of £20 per radio and I have to buy the programming lead off ebay which is about £15.00?
@undertaker9176 £20 per radio is cheap to fix. You mean you have no charger for it and cannot power it up? It is the same charger as the old motorola phones I think its the V975, but it has to be genuine motorola charger no copies.
@nokiaman2002 No I have a genuine motorola MTH800 charger that I got from showcomms. The charger works and the battery seems to be charged but when I put it in the back of the radio and try and turn it on I get nothing!!! So either the batteries are completley dead with no hope of charging up whatsoever or I have been sold a couple of dummy radios? I am also led to believe that you know the seller I bought these radios off as you have regular dealings with him yourself?
@nokiaman2002 No nothinng comes on the screen. It will not show any signs of life whatsoever. I have charged the batteries up and tried them in the radios and I get nothing. Even when I charge the radio itself with the battery in it I get no response!!!I don't understand what bricked is or how I go about getting it restored?
just a quick question is there any point in people haveing tetra radio as all people want to do is listen to police when they they cant is there other things you can pick up on tetra radios from what ive heard analouge radio sounds better
@charlie75125 If people buy Tetra radios to listen to the police then they are stupid. If you want to "pick things up" and "listen to things" buy a scanner, you wont hear much on tetra unless you are near an ROIP node which are popping up around the country - more on this in my TETRA ROIP videos.
What is the highest capacity of battery you can get for these? They only last around 8hrs, is there a battery available to last a 12hr period with a busy trunked channel?
@Zoomer1973 the extended battery is the largest sorry, i always carry a spare anyway. Motorola have the best battery life, sepura are terrible, you need to carry a car battery for those. Do you wear an earpiece? they greatly redeuce battery consumption.
@nokiaman2002 Hi thanks for the info.I do not use a earpiece but will give it a go. It connects to an extension speaker mic which I thought would use more battery.I will give it a go next shift - Thanks
@michaelduffy78 Yes it can - take an MTH800 to your local Police Headquarters or Airwave HQ in Slough and ask them. Im sure they will be more than helpful. Dont forget to take your CS spray holder, police fleece, ASP and fake warrant card with you they may help.
Hi there. Have been offered a new motorola mth800 still in the box but the firmware is saying R07.022.xxxx. It is a tea2 encypted handset i think but is it a new version software or do you have any info on this frimware?
@bmayo107 I have never heard of R07.022.**** just R07.020.**** - this is strange and doesnt conform to any firmware I am aware of unless it is some depot firmware. Who is the seller of the radio? Has it got it labels intact? Have a good look at it and put it in trunked mode and see if there are any suspicious talkgroups or error messages. The fact that it is new tells me it should be okay
But you could connect to the network and listen to audio traffic until they figure out that they have intruder on the network and stun your handset???
@zoltan6561 : As soon as you switch it on, it will transmit its ID and they can see that the ID is not registered with their network (if you are on the same set of freq.). Like a cell phone.
do you maybe know witch years is been product by factory your MTH800? Because my MTH800 is have a similar TEI number and i want just know witch is the year of product this radios ...
@CHANNELMICHAEL why would somebody want anything? Tetra is digital and offers a lot of services - also its less prone to interference, offeres advanced services, good speech quality etc
@CHANNELMICHAEL If hes 14 years old and has no money then he shouldnt waste it on tetra equipment - maybe a pair of action man walkie talkies will suit him fine. Before he cross-examines me on my educational videos!
@teamswansea999 you can find them on ebay from time to time. An MTH800 will cost you 280GBP upwards, an mth650 will be cheaper. Without the use of a DMO repeater your range between 2 handhelds in DMO is not very good compared with cheaper alternatives such as motorola analogue. Tetra is 1W and analogue is 4/5W output power.
@thanxx You can download tones form somewhere as a wav file i did have them....if i find a link ill post it. A DMO repeater extends the pathetic coverage of DMO handhelds - like a normal repeater only single frequency as TETRA technology utilises TIME SLOTS so the repeater can listen on one frame and TX on another at the same time using the same antenna and without a duplexer
Hi, I see you know allot about the Motorola MTH 650 and I’ve just bought one but it won’t go in DMO mode and I can’t find it anywhere only something about TXI mode. I really could do with some help lol , Cheers, Anth
@andersonovroker what is the SW version when you turn it on? Should say R07.000.**** or similar - lets start with that first. I have PM you with my phone number that may be easier if you call.
@andersonovroker sorry ive just read you message again its an MTH650 so ignore what I said about R07.000.**** ......OK to enable DMO it needs programming, or needs DMO enabling in the codeplug. I can do this for you - please message me direct for more information
Yes I would like to knw the lagality of owning them for a start and also what are then conditions for operating them. Do you need an ofcom liscence to do so? And what are the tell tail signs if you think that a radio may be stolen?
@undertaker9176 like i say in the video legal to own - but violates the wireless telegraphy act in a way to operate them - however they are 1W so I doubt you would ever be punished for using them in DMO - with regards to sepura you can type in *477 on the screen to get in service menu - there will tell you TEI number - if its FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF then radio is a dummy model and is OK. If not best ring sepura and get their advice - if you have sepuras where did you get them from?
