  • Four units burning...NYC row houses for you...

  • thats one mad fire blazing there...

thats street looks so nice , looks very diffrent compared to the rest of bronx.

  • That's what happens when you put wooden and plastic boxes close together and light one of them.

  • Now that's the problem with Row-houses... one goes they all go!

  • @Jadama0 Most row house are built with a 1ft solid brick barrier in between each house so fires don't spread. Most are also built of brick

  • Now that's a serious fire..

  • whats up revo, didn't you sleep well? :D calm down... you don't have to be a fire fighter to know that wood burns lol. I knew that in america most of the walls inside a house are made of wood... i didn't know that the WHOLE house is made outta wood.

  • wow wow 3 house fire or just 1 cause i have 3 houses i'm in middle and i dunno if ours might get burned if one of theirs does! tell mee :l

  • have there been no water?

  • ma grandma live on 181 nd park ave

  • heh..the bronx been throught worse than that

  • holy shit! how can a COMPLETE building, ..actually two.. burn on the outside like that?

Are your houses made of wood?

  • No.

  • @NYCsPLAYA ouu yes ;)

  • @PixxzoneBasti yah the houses are made outta wood you dumbass and if one house is on fire and the other homes being that close will start on fire to because of readiant heat im a fire fighter get some knowledge so you dont souns silly

  • Well, I think you might be reaching by calling them beautiful.

  • Both services have their merits, in both services there are culture issues. But I find a culture of taking unnecessary risk's for what are essentially rubbish fires and exposure protection unbelievable to say the least. As macho as some want to be about this job we call firefighting, and the greatest job in the world it is I would rather be called soft for not risking my life and health for a rubbish fire. At the end of the day I want to go home and enjoy my retirement in 20 years, be safe!!

  • bloody yank!!!!

  • shut up yeah!

  • no not from or been to NYC but i know for a fact we in the UK r much much better and more professional than u lot just listen to u speaking out ur a** mate!! jog on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the UK sucks!!!!! we wear leather and fire fight fire you guys are motorcyle helmet wearing fags!!!!!!

  • Sorry?!?!?!? But what the hell are you on about? little bit touchy for words aint ya! dont tell me your from america too ... starting to see it all from your comment!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my department started ordering those motorcycle helmets. There really not that bad. I don't wear one but they do have a lot of nice features compared to our helmets

  • whats good about them i always wanted to try it out compaired to the other helmets

  • less weight, doesn't hit the air pack, shields protected, i don't wear one so i really can't tell you much. the really nice thing is where the flashlight is mounted its perfect when your working with your hands.

  • Is this even allowed with NFPA standardards. Motorcycle helmets are not made for that kind of heat. Does not seem right to me...

  • This helmet is not nfpa approved but we were told by someone within the nfpa that it excedes their regulations. so this helmet is really safer than the ones we wear. These helmets can withstand the heat that we see. our training officer whore this helmet to a fit 5 demonstartion which they stayed inside the building and it got so hot that the tic sscreen was completly red.

  • ya i still dont think that it should be allowed. seems odd to me

  • Comment removed

  • huh that bill is for repelling water. your using them for structures? well i hope that it works out and you are all safe...

  • it also prevents shit from going down ur back.

  • true true. can you give me a link to what your using so i can see it. dont you think that a regular helmet is better than just a skull cap. i want something that like we said deflects water. i can attach my light. which do you think is better. i can see something smaller if you were doing like rope rescue work but i dont know about structures

  • were using the heros extreme

  • Your trying to tell me that your fire house is better than the FDNY? You are crazy. And that's where I stop.

  • who cares who is better. we are all doing this job for the same reason. to prevent the loss of lives by educating the public on fire safty and saving the lives and putting the puplic out of harms way. Yes NYFD have some great heros but so do every fire station. reguardless of 9-11 we all make a sacrifice of our safty for theirs.

  • We care when other firefighters from different countries try to tell us how to do our job, OBVIOUSLY it works here so that's how we do it and will keep doing it.

  • Do you have a bag over your head? That was not the point that i was making at all. It is not who is better. Its about doing the Job and being safe protecting your Brothers. Who cares what anyone else says. Jibber jabber and arguing about this stuff is pointless. Im not saying anyone is better than anyone else you could go into a buring house and the newbie could end up pulling the capt, out due to an error. We are all human and me or you saying that we are better than the next house is stupid.

  • The thing is that it dosen't work. Were getting less fires but were killing more. The construction is getting more unsafe by the day but were still fighting fire like it twenty years ago. I'm not saying not to be aggresive but some things do need to change.

  • That right no matter what in a way we are all brothers dosent matter if you are FDNY or some where in another county

  • wow thats so sad.

  • im wif p999ffb on this one we bring our firefighter's in britain out alive. It really aint @ all suprising why you lot loose so many firefighter's !!! p999ffb knows what he is on about unlike you fella!!! your speaking or getting this info from sum1 else you really have no idea wot ur on bwt!!! sort it out!!!!!! you really need some knowledge fireusaf60!!!

  • Getting this from someone else??? I was AT the fire in the vid above. I think I have a slightly better idea at what went on than my mid-pubescent friend below, who is watching this half a world away.

  • Call me what you like, i bet my career lasts longer than yours will!!! Because if you fight fires like that everysingle day, you may aswell start carving your box now!!!

  • Well there aren't any other people in this world who will fight these fires so people have to step up. And people do. So I have more respect for the firefighters who fight this fire than people who have a different perception on fires like you. I am not in the FDNY yet, but I sure as hell will take the test and try as best as I can to get in because there are just not enough people with the courage to go into a fire like this to save lives. And your one of them.

  • As if you have the cheek to lecture me on courage when you aren't even a firefighter. Sod off and don't get involved when you haven't got a bloody clue!! At least i can respect fireusaf60 because he is actually a firefighter!!!

  • Well, this is really funny because I am a firefighter but I don't do it as a career, I am a volunteer. But I still face danger as any other firefighter. It's funny because now I know your one of those kinds of people who like to assume before you know the truth.

  • O wow isn't that great for you!!!

  • And this is where I end the conversation your job obviously isn't that hard if you aren't in any sort of danger or have any sort of risk as the FDNY.

  • Look at it this way....you become a firefighter for one reason: to respond to and fight fires. So if I catch a job like the one above everytime I go to work, then I'm doing what I love. Your career may last longer, but mine is without a doubt more gratifying

  • I bet you don't really know what goes on in NYC. The FDNY are most likely the best trained firefighters in the world. Actually in my book they are the best trained because well truthfully, I see no other fire department fight bigger fires than FDNY.

  • I hope that those firefighters down in the bottom left corner are not about to go into that building?, i am a firefighter in the UK and we would never EVER send firefighters into a building like that!! It is just waiting to collapse, the fire is rageing so fiercely that it puts so many lives at risk by just throwing men in like the FDNY.!!

  • We have a name for people like you on this side of the pond, chap.....coward. There are a few things you aren't aware of in this vid that the on scene commander are such as burn time, life hazard, and structural soundness. You make a push and if you don't make headway, you pull out. its just that simple. Keep your firefighting tactics of your side of the pond, eh' chap?

  • Yea well you can also call us "alive and well", no wonder you americans lose so many firefighters, your tactics are useless!! You compromise the safety of your firefighters everyday.

Yes the job is risky, but to call us cowards is wrong, We do just as good a job as you, and coupled with our levels of fire prevention, community fire safety and risk assessments, it makes the UK's fire services the best in the world.

    FACT!

  • Your prevention efforts are fine, but it means you go to a fraction of the fires we do. I would think that if the ratios were compared, they might be the same. Your profile says 18. Have you been to a fire yet?? I would guess not. I would bet anything that the average FDNY member sees more fire that the most active British firefighter. You want to walk around with a little fire prevention hat and clipboard and push paper, fine. DON'T judge fireground operations when you have zero experience.

  • Hang on i thought the role of the Fire services across the world is to protect life and property!!

I would rather turn up to a fire that was in its early stages and was easy to put out, than turn up to a life threatning nightmare that saw peoples lives destroyed or worse lives lost!!

And if you americans stopped building your houses out of such permeable material and so close together you wouldn't have such a big problem!!

  • Building so close together? Seriously? I've been to Britain and have seen what your neighborhoods looklike. Give me a break. In addition, although I'm sure you already know this....many new houses are sprinklered and have made huge leaps in fire safety. Back to my original statement before, get a little time on and actually to to a fire before you comment on fireground tactics. You can't protect property spraying water through an outside window.

  • Besides, when you look at the fact that we have almost 1.5 MILLION firefighters in the USA the odds of a higher fatality rate is probable.

  • "Hang on i thought the role of the Fire services across the world is to protect life and property!!" And on that note you obviously don't understand that being a firefighter you put yourself in danger. You come face to face with danger. You conquer danger if your a firefighter. You wouldn't send in any firefighters? What if there was a downed firefighter. In NY we have a saying. LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND. No matter what nobody is out of the building until every firefighter is out safely.

  • Well if there was a downed firefighter then thats different, but the simple answer is if there is no lives in danger, don't put any in danger. That fire could be faught from the air using Turntable ladders and hose reels more effectivly than what is happening there!!!!

  • That's the whole point of primary search. VES. Vent, Enter, Search. Save lives. Don't let the house go to waste then go search for lives.

  • And if it's a surround and drown, firefighters don't go in the fire. We aren't stupid firefighters in America. We have the best training known to man. So we know what we are doing.

  • firefighting is dangerous but sometimes we do put ourselves in situations we shouldn't be in.

  • We do kill more firefighters than you but its not because of our tactics. Many occur because of over exertion. We do have some deaths that occur because of stupid mistakes.

  • my old stomping grounds

  • tolle autos haben se ja, aber löschen können se nicht!

  • You could see my building on the right

  • I GUY JUMED 18-22

  • Great job! ;-)
