I was born in 1995, FML. I really wish I could have been to Manson's concerts between 1995 and 2005 :( I love his/their new songs though and I'm going to see him in june but that won't be the same
I had never even heard of them before they opened for nine inch nails back on the downward spiral tour. Pretty much blew my suburban teenage mind. I went out and special-ordered Portrait as soon as I could. If it had been vinyl, I would have worn it out within a few months. Fast forward to Antichrist; not a bad album either. Since then, there has been nothing I would even bother to download with an eyepatch discount, let alone actually buy.
and this vid just proves that although john five is an amazing guitarist he is not and nor ever can play these songs to their truest degree as the original creators of them Daisy berkowitz, and gidget gein could
I was at this show. On vacation in Sanfran and saw that they were playing. This was a few months after seeing them in NYC. Lame crowd but the band really out out. After awhile Manson got pissed and smashed a bottle over the cymbal spraying Ginger with glass. Daisy was what really made them solid at this point. He had an energy and style that they never captured again once he was gone.
John5 is talented as a multi-faceted studio guitarist. His skill lies in technical ability. Daisy Berkowitz has a style all his own and has always been my favorite member of Marilyn Manson (even if he left during the recording of ACS, the best songs on that album were ones he wrote- Wormboy, for example).
I agree at the time it worked but manson is always changing his shape I mean can you Imagin Berkowits stumming to the dope show or anything off of hollywood?
Yes I could. Though I love the OMEGA era. I hate everything he did after that. By far Daisy was the best guitarist for the band. The guy started the band and even gave Manson vocal instructions and helped come up with the concept! And yes a lot was done before Brad ever joined the band!!!
Man, he was so much better back then. Listen to those fucking pounding drums and that guitar! I think Berkowitz was underrated. Sure its not virtuoso or whatever, but listen to how that guitar fucking sounds, especially with the harmonics and distortion.
I know what you mean, Twiggins. I was only a baby during this time as well. DAMNIT D;< Anyway, I love Portrait, Marilyn Manson (the band and man) rocks, and I'm just friggin glad I didn't miss out on them completely!
Manson fucking rocked, I SO HATE MYSELF for just beeing 2 years old back then xD Now when I get the chance to see him live he's all old and his voice's not the same as before, and his new record sucks compared to the earlier, but it's like that for every band I guess D:
Well he kind of forced Daisy out of the band by excluding him from everything and being a resentful, ungrateful jerk. I can't believe he treated him like that, what an asshole. Daisy rocked and his songs are the most original.
