  • I've just assisted the author to publish this on the Amazon Kindle platform. Could you add a link to this please?

  • Christian cranks refuse to accept the fact that their sky pixie god had a wife called Asherah, and his name is actually El, the same as the Canaanite pantheon head god. Psalm 29 is actually for the god Baal, the son of El and Asherah. But although Ugarit proves the Christian sky pixie worshippers to be completely delusional, they cannot allow in any overwhelming evidence that contradicts their sky pixie delusions. Therefore they are mentally ill.

  • @ichonoclaster I don't ever recall mentioning I was a christian... How are your strawmen arguments and ad hominems working for you lately?

  • @ichonoclaster More extrapolation. Where on my channel does it say I'm a christian?

  • I have the book and I think the word masterpiece is used too often nowadays, but in this instance it is the only word that will do. From the very first page to the last, this book enthralled me. Mr. Lockhart has done extensive research, has delved into numerous and diverse subjects, which has culminated in what I regard as one of the best books of the genre. I have read the book several times and recommended it to all my friends, and associates. I urge you to read this book.

  • Xoroaster is dumber than a box of rocks too...lol

  • @caskur1 Damn straight!

  • @caskur1 He has a PhD.

  • @ichonoclaster he does not. liar!!!

  • @ichonoclaster In what? Anything relevent to the claims he's expressed in this book?

  • @arbisea In what? Claims? What claims? You are delusional and now engaging in gibberish.

  • the author is dumber than a box of rocks.

  • @caskur1 In my opinion, he is the most brilliant man I have ever known.

  • @klaatu1701 Well that sums up EVERYTHING I need to know about you, then. :)

  • he has no credenttials. he is dumber than a box of rocks.

  • Actually, I've read a lot of his work. He specializes in rhetoric and half-truths. He has zero credentials, and is not really an expert on anything he writes about.

The book is a work of fiction, and should be regarded as nothing more.

  • @arbisea There is no rhetoric nor half truths in the book. The book is historically accurate and written with integrity. There is certainly no fiction, but for a religiously deluded person, I can see how that may be the case to a diseased mind. The reality is the ancient Israelites were polytheistic Yaweh's wife is Asherah and they only adopted monotheism post exile after their exposure to Zoroastrianism. Do a search for "did god have a wife" you may learn something but then again perhaps not.

  • @ichonoclaster What are his credentials? Is he a scholar? Is he a Historian? No.

Argument needs to go no further than that.

  • @arbisea FYI is "an Historian" not "a Historian". The people that have read it love it and it is selling well. He is an author.

  • @ichonoclaster That's it? You can't argue against the claim so you make spelling the central issue? Weak. And how do you know it's selling well, unless you are the author?

    ROFL shameless self-promotion, anyone?

  • @arbisea Claim? All you have to offer is an ad hominem attack on the author when you have never read the book. You are obviously illiterate as you don't know the correct usage of "an" when you have a word starting with "H". It's not spelling by the way. The author states his argument, and without reading the book you dismiss it and the author out of hand. Xoroaster has reviewed the book and gives it a "thumbs up".

  • @ichonoclaster Assume much? How do you know I haven't read the book? You did say it was selling well, didn't you? Perhaps I am one of those nameless folks who waisted a good $2.00 bill on your overpriced toilet paper. And I agree the difference between an and a is a phonetic rule, not a spelling one. But that doesn't make your response any less pathetic.

It's not an ad hominem attack to point out the author has no authority on a particular subject.

  • @arbisea Anyone is entitled to express an opinion. He is entitled to express an opinion and put forward an argument. You only have an ad hominem falacious argument. Actually, the convention of "A Historian" and "An Historian" is not a phonetic rule, it is an indefinite article.

  • @ichonoclaster Actually, YOU started with the ad hominems by questioning my literacy with your pathetic attempt at grammatical criticism. I only ciriticized the authors lack of authority on the subject.

But before you start criticizing too loudly, I ought to point out your most recent post was full of incomplete sentences, improper lower case punctuation , and all of your punctuation was outside of the quotations.

You write EXACTLY like someone I've debated recently. ;)

  • @arbisea And you have gone to a lot of trouble to stalk him on the net just to disrupt and impose yourself and your delusions on a Youtube presentation.

  • @ichonoclaster So what? Lots of fiction books are best sellers.

Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Davinci code, etc...

  • @arbisea The Bible is a work of fiction, exactly the same story as The Lord of the Rings and harry Potter.

  • Peter B Lockhart doesn't even know what the Bible says. He has never studied it. All he does is reguritate other people's ideas. YAWN.

  • @caskur1

    did you read his book?

i thought he made some quite valid assumptions not just regurgitations... in my opinion

  • @subs700 I didn't have to... he sat in my loungeroom for the best part of 25 years bleating his shit.

  • @caskur1 does that make him wrong? personal differences aside, i think he makes some interesting points about what people believe in... not just religion.

  • Good review, I think I'll be giving this a read, that's the best title I've heard for a book in a long time!!

  • Whilst atheism is on the rise in USA, in the wider world religion is on the increase, not neccessarily in the hearts and minds of people, but in terms of influence and power in the political arena and the running of government....

.... and that is a bad scene which IS happening in the States, too.

  • @effyleven SCIENCE WTF --> RELIGION = stupid.

  • I liked the points you made about your fears prior to reading — that it might fall into dull text booksville, or rant territory, and that it avoided both.

  • I'm going to have to check that out!

  • Thanks.... This is going on my 'must read' list. I've known religion is bollocks for a long time, but always looking for mire weaponry for my arsenal!

  • @AuntieDiluvian - If you want another intresting read, look up "Don't Know Much About the Bible" for an insightful read. =)

  • @ksniveegirl thanks for that!

  • I was looking for more information but I couldn't find a "side bar". ;)

Seriously, sounds like a good contribution to the discussion. Peter seems like an interesting guy, too.

  • @AncientAtheist He's 'interesting', alright. (In a foil hat, bomb shelter paranoia, sort of way)

  • @arbisea An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument. Typically, this fallacy involves two steps.
