  • I like her dress (Qi Pao).

  • 彈的真優美,謝謝囉!

  • sounds like southern song style. is it southern?

  • When will she be in Vancouver? She is heavenly!

  • 餘韻繞棵尚飄空, 大師级的演奏.

  • 大好きな曲です~~ありがとうございました!!

  • 最高!

  • Oh lot of professional students here... EE--E

  • She is my major study Guzheng teacher during I was studying at music school. She is the best Guzheng player and musician in China, she play all the music in detail, touching , high-skill... Really thanks for your sharing!!!

  • The Vietnamese Dan Tranh instrument and its music is very similar to this, the focus on lyrical style rather than too many notes and sticking to simple yet beautiful harmonies. Minimal and strong at the same time. This style I guess is very southern?

  • Beautiful playing. The microphone and its position could be responsible for the more "metallic" sound, the farther away from the instrument the mic is, the thinner the sound.

  • This instrument sounds "metallic" because the higher strings are actually steel and as you go down to the mid to lower strings you find they are steel wrapped with silk, and nylon. This instrument is a half steel half nylon gu zheng. I love this performance and this sound.

  • beautifully played. but this guzheng has a very big metalic sound to it.

  • Lots of Kejia or Chaozhou music school prefer to use this type of guzheng for performance. Han Ya Xi Shui is such a classical piece in the Chaozhou repertoire.

  • Air-dried guzhengs have a natural wood colored soundboard because the wood had been exposed to the air for a year or more to naturally dry out and these guzhengs sound nice and warm.

Oven-dried guzhengs have golden-brown or yellow soundboards bacause they have been dried in a large oven and the sound produced sound crisp and sweet.

  • CONTINUED...

Flamed-dried guzhengs have very dark soundboards because the makers use a fire gun to dry out the soundboards. Flame-dried guzhengs are the loudest, but have a metallic sound to it because the top layer cells on the wood soundboard has been burned.

Xi'an Scarlet Bird brand guzhengs and some Henan brands use the air drying method. Shanghai Dunhuang brand guzhengs are known for their oven-dried guzhengs. Yangzhou guzhengs are known for their flame-drying method.

  • thank you. i knew most of that. my guzheng is air dried, its a white/yellow color. i kind of knew this was a flame dried one. since the soundboard is almost black.

  • Wow, you are lucky. I had to build my guzheng, but its sound quality sucks and it looks very unprofessional. It took me an entire week to carve out the soundboard! The strings are spun fishing line and the bridges are made out of LEGO blocks.

Last year, I got a set of dizis for my birthday, so I'm hoping I can get a guzheng this year.

  • wow. that is interesting and amazing. you built your own guzheng.

  • I want a pipa some dizis a dongxiao and a guzheng

  • Is that a flamed-dried guzheng? The soundboard looks so dark.

  • That really is what GuZheng is all about...! The beauty of that piece really shines through... I much prefer this than those with too much "yao ji" .... the ones that show off the modern techniques at the expense of the artistry of the music itself.... Thanks for uploading...

  • I agree. This is very lyrical as opposed to "flashy and flowery", so the pureness of the tune shines right through and your heart isn't racing to catch up with the performer's fingers. Its very serene and entertaining. More difficult to play this sort of music than most modern music.

  • thanks so much for uploading this! :D

  • finally i get to see the rest. I really support your music clips. I listen to them everyday. please keep uploading.
