@NCJammin If you isolate Steve’s bass track to the song, there IS a fair amount of clacking and fret noise. I’ve played for about 20 years myself, and for the first 10 years I killed myself about execution, finger noise, and fret noise. And honestly, when one starts further investigating some of these classic bass lines, you find that while incredible and inspirational, they are not absolutely perfect. Fortunate for bass players, we sit deeper in the mix and those faults get lost. :)

They can support them pretty well. You might have to tighten the trussrod.  They do have quite a bit of tension to them. I personally like the nickel rounds better than stainless flats.

i have .50 .70 .85 .105 round wound strings and i think they are very heavy(trussrod tightened, of course), so .50 .75 .95 .110 must be ridiculous!

To answer your question, yes, they have a little less tension than roundwounds. The average medium flats are equal to heavy gauge rounds.

Now the Steve Harris strings are a little heavier than the medium Rotosound flats. They are still

very tight and will give you blisters. I bought them once and didn't like them all that much because I am so used to nickel rounds.
