question (maybe a dumb question) now if i want to upgrade a different weapon that may be stronger than the weapon the character is currently wielding, can i dismantle the weapon (the wielder carries) to "try" to get back the items I used on it to upgrade, or will i just lose the weapon completely?

@SweetHina you lose the weapon it self but you gain extra parts (ex. dismantle kain's lance to receive 3 trapozahedrons and some more stuff)

If you can use any item, why do they have more expensive ones?

@komjj The more expensive ones are of higher quality , meaning you can use less of them to get the same effect. For example, you could probably buy 26 higher quality items and still get the x3 bonus.

@uragonako88 Each weapon has a total of 3 levels. Original , Upgraded , and Ultimate. So you can potentially upgrade all weapons twice assuming you start with the original.

That's great and all, but how do i actually TRANSFORM my weapons? I just got Gladies up to it's star and i'm tired of the fukin wyvern enemies kicking my ass so yeah i know it has something to do with the mineral stuff but what do i do then?????

@TheKnight11563 you have to max it out in each tier after you transform it each weapon has 3 tiers so they transform twice, youre gonna have to do some grinding to get the things need and gil to make it happen, hope this helps

@infenit101 Lightning should have Lion Heart because she is a really good ravanger. Fang should be point character as a commando and have the Taming Pole. Taming pole at maximum raises her Str. and Def. up to +921.

@MrDelta01 If you are far enough into the game to use paradigms, your side characters are set on ravanger, to attack with weapons, that's usually the commando role.

Google in "Upgrading Final Fantasy XIII weapons" and go to the Final Fantasy Wikia website and it'll give you a list of every weapon and exactly how much EXP a weapon needs to max level.

@Tgolden69 You have to defeat an Adamantoises or Long Gui to get a Trapezohedron. Its very difficult. You can defeat one at the end of Ch.12 or you can wait until after you beat the game.

@jagr06 Well the maximum level for a weapon defers from weapon to weapon however the Ultimate versions only go up to level 100. You will know when you max a weapon because it will show a star symbol. If I were you I wouldn't worry about grinding that much but it you want to for a while then its completely fine. Let me know who you are using and what roles you assign them most often so I can give you some tips.

@DarkKakarot315 hey sorry for late response, I forgot to play this game for awhile due to new games. Anyway, atm at the save before barthandelus and i'm using Lightning, Hope and Fang. right now they're on: Light(ravager), hope(synergist) and Fang(commando) mainly to start against the boss.

Trying to grind to get more incentive chips and credit chips to sell, so I can upgrade my weapons easier.

Dunno when i'll be able to get those components again. :(

@oninlove I used the Bladed Lance, Fang's original weapon, its strength is good; however, her Taming Pole is much stronger. The Taming Pole at maximum status is +921 strength and magic. It is her strongest weapon. Go with that.
