El unico musico que hubo en Focus fue Van Leer, los demas solo eran musicos amateurs, y el propio Akkerman era y es aburridisimo, a la europea, como esta mandao...por cierto, en el video parece necesitado de una buena ducha, se le ve sucio,como tambien es la tradicion en esos paises de Neanderthal. Aburrirse y lavarse poco...como mandan los canones Cro-mañon.

@InGloriouswind: Mr Thijs van Leer, as you may know, the man who founded Focus.

At the time not that many people were playing guitar, let alone on his level, so it wasn't fully recognized how good and all-round he actually was.

Much more original too, because most European musicians were only trying to copy American blues-music, while Focus mixed that with European classical influences. Very successfully, considering they weren't an Anglo-Saxon band and mostly instrumental.

The guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Personal from late 60s/early 70s -they didn't make them for long, but it's the guy playing it that makes the difference - Akkerman is undoubtedly one of the all time greats.

Que este tipo toque mejor que yo, no quiere decir que sea un gran guitarrista; Jan Akkermann nunca fue un guitarrista tan bueno como Robert Fripp, Steve Hackett,John Mc laughlin, por citar algunos contemporaneos suyos, y Focus fue un grupo de segunda fila que no pudo competir con Gentle Giant, Van der graaf, ni con Crimson, Genesis, ou otros pesos pesados de los setenta.Eso es un hecho, pero si te gusta Akkermann, tu mismo...para perder el tiempo cualquier cosa vale.

Tengo el DVD. Focus fue mi grupo favorito de los 70s y sigue siendo un referente. Jan Akkerman uno de mis guitarristas favoritos. Gracias por su difusión. La introducción de Jan en "Can't believe my eyes" del LP o CD "Ship of Memories" es de lo más genial.

It's called the "Les Paul Personal" and came out just before the Les Paul Recording. I think it was in 1969. I had one back in the '70s. It was a nicer guitar than the LP Recording, but it had two drawbacks... First, unlike the LP Recording, the impedance adapter was separate from the guitar, so you had to put it between the guitar and the amp. Mine got worn out eventually from being dragged around on the floor. Second... It was extremely heavy. I thought it sounded good. Wish I still had it...

Very nice! I'd actually looked at the LP Recording when it first came out. To me, this seemed a better instrument for JA rather than the LP Black Beauty only because he was more of a "clean" sound rather than trying for the type of sound Clapton got with Cream and the Bluesbreakers.

Yeah, I remember marvelling at that Les Paul. It had those weird tilted pickups, and I believe it was low impedence. One of Les Paul's ideas. What a great guitarist!
