I just looked up the boxscore of the game this day and paid attendance was 9391. There weren't even that many Cubs fans who showed up to boo, LOL. Back then, before the '84 playoff run and Harry Caray, Wrigley Field was not crowded, tickets were cheap compared to virtually any other entertainment, and once in a while the fans did boo. This was all before the Wrigley became the singles bar it is now. Harry really needs a lot of that credit in retrospect, plus the neighborhood gentrification.
