Where this is a very good version, I used to have a cassette tape, joint release by Edgar Winter and Rick Derringer, the version on that was terrible! The whole thing seemed to be below par; I don't know why it was released, it was terrible. In this clip, you see they are all excellent musicians doing a killer version of this song. Man, I miss those days.
i saw the EWG--this lineup--aug 14 1974 at the oakland arena. bad company opened--their first tour. an amazing show by both bands. i taped it on a small cassette player. still have the tape. the EWG was basically wearing the same outfits as on this vid, so i assume this is from the same tour? i was a huge fan as a kid of edgar winter's double live "roadwork" album, from a few years earlier, w/ jerry lacroix on vox and derringer on guitar, and a cameo from johnny witer on rnr hoochie koo.
"getting high all the time hope you all are too", no lie i played this song over so many times i don't even remember the rest of the songs on this album
Saw Rick back up for Led Zeppelin Show July 1977 Oakland California. Day on the Green. It really show what kinda of a guitar player he really was, back up for Zep.. Wow what a show....
Dude, I was at the same show. Derringer tore Zep a new one. Mark Chapman was playing second guitar in the band. Remember them throwing their guitars to each other during the lead break in "Beyond The Universe"? Amazing band and an amazing show. Day's On The Green ruled. For 12 bucks you'd get an all day concert.
Rick Derringer has such a large body of work. I love his last official Rock lp, 1983's Good Dirty Fun and everything before it. The blues stuff from '93 on is good too, but like the songwriting on the older tunes.
