Great interview, loved the rpgcodex shoutouts! :D Hey Jay Barnson, Frayed Knights was GREAT! More games like that plz. However, my one request would be to make spells less boring, especially priest spells. Oh and plz remove the requirement for gems for casting the better spells, or at least make gems more plentiful.
I would love to see more sci-fi (spaceship etc) based cRPGs. :( Take something (size wise) like Oblivion, Morrowind, and make it with spaceships and exloration and basically the few RPG elements of Mass Effect, done better and more RPG like.
Meh, I'm dreaming again.
I am interested in Frayed Knights and I hope within a month to actually buy it. Great interview.
And thanks for the Darkstar info. No idea it existed before you mentioning it.
Can't wait until there is another interview that isn't Jay Barnson, Matt... I couldn't stand Frayed Knights, and this interview shows us how arrogant and pretentious he really is. Childish plot + horrible interface + humorless jokes = Frayed Knights.
That was fun and informative. I think you should interview more indie developers. I'd like to hear what Basilisk Games, Gaslamp Games or Spiderweb Software have to say about PC gaming and the roleplaying genre.
9:30 ...Boo is that you?! Oh happy day! Swords not words!!
Id love to see a video given homage to all the great voice actors not only in RPGs but all games. Voice acting (to me atleast) is quite a important part. It carries alot more weight than people give credit. My personal favorite voice in a video game: Simon Templemans Kain!!
19:19 I remember Outwars; one of my first pc games. Liked it a lot. Also Barnson makes a good point about reading between the lines of the complaints of people (imho this even applies outside the betatesting field).
Matt!! Not sure if you're the creative type, but I imagine with your vast amount of insight into retro RPGs from all these interviews, you could make one heck of a homage to the genre!
@l2ic3 I'm doing a crazy amount of indie game development now, though it's been of the hobby/experimental type so far. (Go to Armchair Arcade to play Jeepney Jeepers and Mayhem). I'm working on Thrust Lifter right now, but afterward plan to do my first CRPG.
@blacklily8 Excellent! But I've taken a look around, and can find almost no trace of these games. I found your very old posts in the Game Development section in the forums, but nothing about the games you mentioned.
I was just acting out "Boo! ... and Minsc!" to the commentary on voice actors... and the dude making the video added the hamster sound XD
Fantastic!!

@RyuRanXII I've tried Spiderweb several times but got zero response. Really disappointed in that...

@blacklily8 Wow, considering some of the names you've had on the show, that is a shame.
