Heeheehee Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner~ Turkey,Ham,Prime rib, NO PUMKIN'PIE,..the difference between my culture... Must have Assorted Sushi and Sashimi!(Raw fish). Peace!
The traditional dinner begins with a huge lasagna, containing over 100+ mini-meatballs, and the usual ricotta, mozzarella, and sauce. Desert is Mrs. Smiths spicy pumpkin pie, and homemade NY crust-less, all cheese cheesecake with espresso.
My husband is of Italian descent and I am of Russian descent, living in VA,both born in NY. For brunch, we have smoked and fresh kielbasi, grated horseradish, sauerkraut cooked with pork and caraway seeds, rye bread, sauerkraut pieroshki, potato and onion pieroski (both are served with fried onions and sour cream - (pieroshki are Russian style filled dough dumplings browned in butter)and cheese and raisin babka (sweet bread).
Well, Smoothie Dude, Here in San Diego, it's not so much what we have, it's where we get it. Our turkey is grass fed, our fruits and vegetables are all organic and the milk and butter we use in our baked goods are raw. BTW, no canned cranberry sauce for us either, homemade all the way. And it IS pronounced pacon.
wow,, thats good that you guys are still doing it the old fashion way...i am impressed...and enjoy your pacon pie..heheheh happy thanksgiving to you and your family, and thx for commenting
Here in Western NC, I have taken up a new tradition from the Shadendoah Valley in VA. We have the usual but we also have egg noodles with gravy and tomato pies. MMMM-MMMM Good!
Southern Illinois here not much different than the basic Tday except for uggg my mom makes these pickled mixed veggies. My god they are awful lol. As far as transportation we just drive to her house takes about 3 mins Happy Holidays!
I am from Ohio. I really don't think we have anything out of the unusal. Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, yams, Pumpkin pie, peanut butter pie, rolls, blah blah. But we do pronounce it peacon pie here. We are very boring in Ohio..lol
Guam here ! We have the traditional stuff but we have red rice (rice made with achote, a seed). Originally I'm from Va. and I say Pecan Pie like you Texans do I guess lol.
