You express yourself very succinctly. I don't know anyone who loves it but I hope that you have found someone who can help you manage and control your oral lichen planus. It is no longer true that there is no effective treatment for most olp.

Thank you for your comments regarding Zam Buk. This balm has been around for many many years yet there are few if any controlled studies using it. Consequently, I do not recommend it. It contains some ingredients that are potentially harmful so be careful. It definitely should not be used in the oral cavity so please don't try this to manage oral lichen planus.
Thanks for your observations regarding Zam Buk. That balm has been around for a very long time yet there has never been a study on it and at this time we have no reason fo think it will routinely help patients with lichen planus. The balm contains several ingredients that are potentially harmful and it definitly should not be used to treat oral lichen planus. Please be careful and don't use this to excess.
There are some other things that can cause peeling such as a strong toothpaste or mouthrinse. However, to me you are still describing lip biting. Please see your dentist and he/she can probably make you a simple little soft mouth guard that will keep you from being able to do that. Once that is done it should be possible to see if the peeling continues and to figure out why.
i need help..i first noticed a white peeling from the inside of my lips about a few years ago..i did a biopsy about 2 months ago and it turned out it is hyperkeratosis..which is a type of lichen planus..it dosnt hurt or bleed..but now it is moving on to the outside of my lip..im just wondering how to treat it or if their is any medication? someone please respond
This doesn't sound like lichen planus. To have hypekeratosis on the inside of your lips suggests heavy smoking or chronic lip biting. If it is moving to the outside it still sounds like smoking or even excess sun exposure. See your dentist or dermatologist
i don't smoke, but because its pealing i do continue to bite on it..but even when i don't it still continues to peal...not as much on the outside but where the outside of the lip meats the inside...
my husband has oral LP and has been to numerous dermatologist...they give him an ointment for his mouth..wears off from saliva..has anyone taken oral med for this??
Oral topical medications are often quite helpful. They come as a cream, ointment or gel and the gel forms will usually stay in plance longer and consequently may be more beneficial
i have this condition on my male private part for 2 years it is like a small wart i have been given a steroid cream but it dosnt seem to be going away can any one help and will it go away.
You need to discuss this with your dermatologist. There is more than one way to treat lichen planus but your doctor needs to know if the current treatment is working or not.
i have it and hate it

ARe there any cures yet for Skin Lichen planus (LP) ????
LifeisDeep00 2 years ago
No cures but it can usually be controlled. We don't know what causes it so we treat symptoms rather than the disease.

Wow what about coloidal silver or MMS cure?
yourboyken 2 years ago
No reason to think coloidal silver would be of benefit and no evidence that it is. what is MMS?
