  • Are you all stupid? How can you put down this version? It's funny to see all of these new musicians making it big by stealing Bob Dylan tunes. Example - Old Crow Medicine Show.

  • @kintaroshi: No doubt Dylan's version is amazing, but just to be fair, I think he stole it from Dave Van Ronk (along with House of the Rising Sun btw)

  • @kintaroshi even kid cudi uses a lay lady lay for a song. I try to think of it as more of a tribute than stealing but most people have no clue its from Bob.

  • @kintaroshi Just FYI - Bob Dylan didn't write this song. It's a traditional folk song.

  • @kintaroshi Old Crow didn't steal the song. They gave Dylan songwriting credit for it.

  • i am going to the concert in a month :D

  • very original. very Bob Dylan.

  • wonderful

  • He can`t to sing never

  • check out the cover of this by a band called rumbleseat. just as great

  • ....Where the women can't follow.!

  • I was led to this after listening to the Railroad Earth version.

All I have to say is... what a song!

  • The muffled sound makes it ever more attractive.

  • this amazing song locks me into a relaxing trance!

  • Just come back from listening to Cat Powers version, it's not in the same league as Bob's........I can see him sat on his porch drinking his moonshine.

  • I have also just come from listening to Chan's version. This one is way more folk... I am still undecided on which I prefer-- But I am not a Dylan fan. We'll see.

  • really? I can just see poor Cat falling into some abyss of depression from this drinking problem she has. That's just the feeling I get from her version. This one sounds like he has no problem at all being a drunk. Which is entertaining, but not what I thought for sure the song was getting at with Cat's version.

  • Did you like hold a mic up to a record playing this song to get this version?

  • and some people have turds for ears and shit for brains. this version is by far the most haunting one i've heard, whereas cat power's is more like a "good job, girl" job - not much darkness in there. but then again, to appreciate true art is an art in itself - not something for every FM joe shmoe to indulge in, i reckon. peace

  • yes, unfortunately being an art snob is all to easy to be."but then again, to appreciate true art is an art in itself - not something for every FM joe shmoe to indulge in, i reckon. peace" Who the fuck do you think you are? grow the hell up

  • well i'm not you - pretty much does it for me. hope you don't go running around screaming YOUR NAME at the top of your lungs irl as well, B-A-G-E-L BOY - staff at the mental hospital might be in need of a break now and then.

  • I totally agree just the sense of this song can 't be understood by a woman because it 's about the lonely ravagging feeling off being on your own like a dog thrown out on the streets when alcohol depravation and lack off female affection just cuts your soul, this statement is not sexist au contraire what i am saying actually praises the spiritual power women have and the pain that lack of it can do to a man.

  • off course women can also be alcoholics and feel lonely and in lack of a pair of strong arms around her but it 's a different kind of feeling, the man protects the woman but with that feeling of being able to protect he gets protected also

  • and cat power wins.

  • Cat power's version of this song is a definite improvement.

  • Lay off the crack sir.

  • Whoever says Bobby can't sing is a fool.

  • are you calling Bob Dylan a fool?

  • He doesn't count

  • Ha!

  • Bob Dylan was both a fool and a genius

  • @AgentAJD "bobby" can't sing

  • to my understanding, a dram is to shine as a shotglass is to regular liquor. they have dram glasses, though I think the actual volume of dram glasses these days varies from the ol' dram

  • a dram is an archaic measurement. The bottles that pills come in are measured in "drams" it's casually used to mean a quantity of liquid.

  • thankyou- this music expresses so much-i could never express like this-but its all i live to do.

Also i have a question what does 'dramn' mean in this song? anyone know........

  • beautiful

  • thanks for putting this up. I love it so much

  • RIP Anthony Cotrotsos.. This song reminds me of you brother.. Such an amazing piece of music.
