have you changed the tubes in your head? if so, which ones have you put in it? ive got the same head and the TS9 and i cant get a sound anywhere near as good as this.
@HopeForTheBrokenBand Yeah I could have waited but the amp I had blew out so I kind of had a Problem. But I found a Place that I can sell this MG to and its a used only shop so if this guy can't buy he can't sell. If you want the most for your gear that's exactly the kind of place you need to find. Guitar Center is like a Game Stop for musicians when you sell them stuff they screw you over. I found that out the hard way. "Corporation's" are just that no matter how they tell you there not.
nice tone, i really like it! and piece of advice, u make good vids dont bring urself by idiots hating on u. theyre jus jealous cuz they dont have a valveking!! (im jealous too :D)
@HopeForTheBrokenBand Yeah the only reason I got this MG is because I couldn't get the Valve King at the time. Guitar Center didn't have it in stock so I had to settle but like I said by the end of the month I should have my W-2 so I can file and then I'm going to zzounds.com to get the Peavey Valve King 100. Turns out its cheaper and if your put down $50 they will send it to you and all you do is pay payments and enjoy it until its payed off. That's how everything should be in my opinion.
@mackerchardeath116 o.o im going to that website right now...lol looking for a new amp for mah band and its expensive o.o im trying to get the 5150 ! or the 6505 peavy amps lol and maybe get a vader cab er 2. but you shouldve waited lol i would wait for the better sound a week aint that bad for a better sounding amp
And One Question. Could you may a video on whats in you effect chain now cause I need a good reference on pedals I play a lot of Thrash, Heavy Metal and Zakk Wylde Type stuff. as Well as Hardcore, Metalcore, and Some Deathcore as well. So if you could make a video it would steer me in the right path.
@mackerchardeath116 wah 1st, compressor/sustainer 2nd, distortion 3rd, anything else you want, reverb/delay i prefer 2 delays...over reverb but thats my preference and i dont know where to place my tuner lol i never really use one
Nice tone dude, bad news I couldn't get that tone with my Marshall MG100. Already Tried. Good news is I'm getting this amp. ironically I'll be keeping my Marshall Cab. Weird?
hey dude i have this same head and use a TS9 and an ISP Decimator for noise reduction but still my live tone playing shows isn't tight. what settings do you have your valveking on? i play in a melodic hardcore band in Drop A so i need a low end but it to cut through during melodic parts as well
@holyspook011 its good you don't want a distortion pedal you want an overdrive pedal to make it more heavier for example a ts9 you will want a boss ns2 toke make the loud buzzing noise go away
i have a valveking and if any of you have questions of how to get this tone just ask me all you need is a good cab a ts9 a ns2 and a 10 band eq and good pickups such as emg 81
i had this amp before, the thing that made it sound better is a 10EQ. i was using a mxr 10EQ but i sold the amp because i couldn't afford it anymore:(
I think its okay and you can get the dimmu type sound but I think its better to look for something like a Bugera 6262 its kinda the cheap version of the peavey 6105 the amp that dimmu borgir's guitarist uses.
@CypherThanatos yeah I've got a genz benz el diablo 100 but I'm looking for an amp for my other guitarist that will sound very different from my setup
Good video man, Loved the tone of that amp and TDWP all the way!! What wireless system are you using? And what are your actual settings on the head itself?
Im just about to get this set up...mine is going to be a little "steroided out"... two 412s and two 212s on top of those...with two VKs behind them with a compressor, turbo tube screamer, and isp decimator... ;]
So you are playing the distortion channel with a boost on it??? Could you give me a quick run-through of your setup??? and what are the settings on your amp???
what is that box named? i want to buy the peavey valve king because i don't have much money and i play things like metallica, iron maiden etc. i think this is the rigth amp for these things.... but what box shall i buy?
@Schlonzkopp this amp can definitely do them, and I would get an ibanez tube screamer to boost it with (gain 0 level 10) or if your on a budget the digitech bad monkey coupled with this amp has a following.
This is definitely a huge improvement from the last video you made. I have been thinking about getting a tube screamer but I have heard it's bad for this amp, but I hear differently. What other pedals do you have running there. You can pm it to me if you want.
now its sounds right cause i am gonna get it tmr and when i heard your old preview of the valvking i was like in a shock but then i came on this and i was like yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss its sounds great!!!!!! thanks for posting this vid
Dude I use an old Crate cab, y'know the one off the crappy solidstate Flextone series? Yeah one of those, and mine sounds just fine I got a video up on my channel with no tube screamer, no celestions, or gain boosts and I'm laying it down on that thing. lol
they key to making the valveking sounding better is swapping out the speakers. the valveking speakers suck. I bought the valveking for a backup to my jcm 2000. I swapped the head and it blew my marshall away without pedals. some guys are swapping out the V1 tube with a hotter tube rather than the J&J tube. if you want to improve the sound even more get a strat or les paul. the basswood body tremelo guitars dont sound that great. i put dimarzios in my ibanez and its still my worst toned guitar .
Your tone wasn't terrible in the first vid but this is way better, I was planning on getting a valveking, in the price range is there anything else you could think of?
@EvanN108 The B-52 AT-100 is a good amp with rectified distortion. It's been called the poor man's Mesa. It's just as good though, you just don't have all the EQ options as a Mesa...or as many features.
@T3hPCGamer Fair enough.. Guess it does vary. Ive heard a lot of bad things.. but also good. 333XL has my eye but apparently the tubes that come with it are shocking shite and worth an upgrade to EL's?
@Stooeybear13 No idea on the 333xl, only that if you want pure metalcore tone then get the 6262, thats modeled off a 5150 II = 6505+ 333xl is peavey JSX i think
i have a peavy special 2x12 combo and i use a digitech metal master stompbox. i can get a pretty decent metalcore sound outta my cheap lil setup! rock on!
dude i have a valveking 100 watt head and im about to get a tube screamer please share your settings i have been soo stressed out trying to get a good tone
Are you using the MXR Carbon Copy Delay in this video? I like the one of your amp...but here its not TOO much difference in price between this and a 6505..so i will buy the 6505...but I LOVED that delay
Ha i just found this, and i recently got the MG cab, but i need a head thats cheap that can do hardcore/metalcore (cause im in a band) and i stumble upon this. awesome tone, now i figured id get a tubescreamer and noisegate and then use my POD in the effects loop for delays and stuff. Sick video and tone, i love me some ABR.
are you playing on a marshall 412b cabinet? does it work well with the head? i have that cab and dont want to spend another 450 on a cab if i get that head
The tone argument is bullshit. Stuck up people who use their cash instead of their ears to justify their down is ALL that is.
Valveking is one of the sweetest amps I've ever heard. My favourite two amps on the planet are the 6505+ and the Valveking. When I have the money and my own place I'll get both in head versions!
I own the 6505+ 1x12 combo now, and my band mate owns the Valveking 1x12...best metal tones you could ask for, such diversity!
Hey man your tone is f***ing awesome. I also have a peavey valveking 100w head and I also have a turbo tube screamer. But, I can't seem to get a tone I really want (like yours) from it. What else do you use to get that sound? Or what are your settings if you just use a tube screamer?
Are those the stock tubes? I've got some time before I'll have the cash for this amp, but I was thinking about getting the head, and a Marshal 1980A/B (which ever is slanted) cab for it, and putting some high-power tubes in it, to make up for not having as many 12AX7's in it as the 5150/6505.
Hey man, I have to say this video influenced me in to getting this Amp head, and all I have to say is "thanks! its awesome!" I really do enjoy playing this amp! even tho I don't own a tube screamer yet it is still great, what are the setting that you use on the head?
Good demo dude. Sound was pretty decent and video editing was good. I was playing a VK100 earlier and wasn't feeling the on-board gain as it is. Good to see the potential with just an extra stompbox. Those screamers really are awesome. I hear digitech's bad monkey is a very popular compliment to that amp. Good and cheap, lol. Good stuff.
Hey im looking to get this amp to gig with my friends. One of which has a JSX and do you think that the Valveking can keep up with that and an extremely loud drummer with a tube screamer or any other overdrive pedal at stage volumes?
@CuttingDrake94 Hey man, im not the one who made this video but im just saying this amp would EASILY be able to be as loud as the JSX even without a tube screamer. although it is cheaper, i reckon the valveking sounds better than the JSX as i played one today and hated it. but thats just my opinion, good luck:)
I'm a 44 year old guy that's been playing guitar for 30 years and I've played LOT'S of amps. Now that I don't "tour" anymore I can't see the point in spending over 2 grand for an amp head. Although my style is more shred and not metalcore or whatever, I love the sound of this amp. It get's ragged on by boutique snobs because it's made in China and it's inexpensive, but it sounds amazing. I'm getting one this weekend. Dude, nice tone and nice playing. Rock on!
@TheAxe4Ever Thanks for the comment bro, its nice to see people that appreciate the hard work I put into getting a good tone with what I can afford. Keep it real!
@ThePresitge350 Not trying to be disagreeable dude, but when I bought my Valveking at Guitar Center, I got a brand new in the box model and the original Peavey box it came in clearly states "Designed in the U.S. Made in China". Personally, I don't care if it was made on Mars. This amp kicks ass. My bestest bud that plays a Krankenstein was blown away by the power, tone and respinse of my amp that cost me a third of his gear. Rock on!
@TheAxe4Ever Oh.. my bad, I know that a lot of the older peavey equipment is made in the US but i just though that they where still going with that ideal. anyways I was just going with the last information I found on Peavey and my info stated that all Peavey products where US made, but I cant disagree with what the origional Box for the amp says. Does it say "Designed in US...china" on the amp to? anyway srry bro.
@TheAxe4Ever It's called pleasure. For me this amp have a frustrating sound. Thin, fizzy, cold. If you had a lot of amps of 2 grands, why did you re-sell them ? Something sound strange here.
@SuperKrakoukass That's a fair question. I've played through Marshalls, Boogies, Laney's, Rack gear, you name it. And I loved the tone of all of them. But in my younger days, I was a tone chaser and sold gear to aquire more gear. I also mentioned, I'm 45 now, with a family, kids and all. The extent of my jamming is just for fun with friends. So I can't see the need to spent thousands on different gear. I've retubed my Valveking with excellent results. If you can afford it, buy boutique.
@whitechapel696969 Umm it depends what you wanna play and what kind of sound you are going for. Personally, I think for anything high gain-ish you are going to need something to boost it
Hey can you tell me exactly what setup you were using? all you said was a tube screamer. I use a Boss ME-2 Metal Core pedal with it and all I get it trb and mid, no bass. Idk if its the cab or what. I'll test it out with a tube screamer.
DUde what are your settingsi have to have them and also do you know that off you get the pedal there is even more of a boost than there is on the control panel of the vk.
great playing and great tone dude! tdwp. parkway, chiodos and kilswitch songs all sounded awesome i loved listen to you play haha i played this head today at guitar center and was looking for other ppl who had it that played heavey music haha great stuff man i subbed!
@mil182 Thanks bro, it's cool to have people out there appreciate it! The valveking can sound great for heavy stuff (metalcore/hardcore) if you add the right stuff to it!
@4ce0fSp4des yeah i tried a 6505+ but honestly it didnt sound like it was worth double the cost of the VK i kinda liked the valve kings sound id just have to push it really hard, like you said boost it up but it sounds great. plus im hopefully buying a marshall 1960 cab from my friend. are you in a band?
@mil182 I was for the longest time, but then like some people lost interest, and it's hard to keep up school, work and a band. Also we opened for Miss May I and Legend, and from there the shows kind of just went downhill lol. Like playing in front of 500 people to going down to 15 is hard
@mil182 I know it sucks because they are playing shows 2 nights in a row at a venue where my band played a show, and I can't go see them because I am in China haha
@bbnbband what really makes the sound is a bbe sonic maximizer in the loop of the amp and a tube screamer in front of it. also turn treble up almost all the way and mids about halfway
could you go through your setup for me? I am looking at a valveking and I play mostly metalcore so I'd love to know what you are running in the loop and such. And are those the stock tubes because I've read quite a few reviews that they are kinda weak for metal. Thanks and great vid!

good review! would you recommend this head with a marshall cab or the valveking cab? what speakers are in your cab?
liam12rutherford 1 year ago
Are those the stock tubes? I've got some time before I'll have the cash for this amp, but I was thinking about getting the head, and a Marshal 1980A/B (which ever is slanted) cab for it, and putting some high-power tubes in it, to make up for not having as many 12AX7's in it as the 5150/6505.

Hey man, I have to say this video influenced me in to getting this Amp head, and all I have to say is "thanks! its awesome!" I really do enjoy playing this amp! even tho I don't own a tube screamer yet it is still great, what are the setting that you use on the head?

austy081488 1 year ago
Good demo dude. Sound was pretty decent and video editing was good. I was playing a VK100 earlier and wasn't feeling the on-board gain as it is. Good to see the potential with just an extra stompbox. Those screamers really are awesome. I hear digitech's bad monkey is a very popular compliment to that amp. Good and cheap, lol. Good stuff.
billbunswick 1 year ago
I really hope thats not an MG cab. If so that is handicapping your tone just as much as the metalzone

Hey im looking to get this amp to gig with my friends. One of which has a JSX and do you think that the Valveking can keep up with that and an extremely loud drummer with a tube screamer or any other overdrive pedal at stage volumes?
CuttingDrake94 1 year ago
@CuttingDrake94 It will keep up, but won't sound as good as the JSX. It's 100 watts tube - you'll blow the drummer out of the room lol
standindarkness 1 year ago

Rock on!
TheAxe4Ever 1 year ago 12
@TheAxe4Ever Thanks for the comment bro, its nice to see people that appreciate the hard work I put into getting a good tone with what I can afford. Keep it real!

@TheAxe4Ever... All peavy equipment is made in the USA or at least assembled in the US.
ThePresitge350 1 year ago

@TheAxe4Ever how much does this amp cost
myskull54 1 year ago
@myskull54 $549.00 for the 100 watt head. I got mine at Guitar Center.
TheAxe4Ever 1 year ago
@TheAxe4Ever that's pretty cool! Do they come with distortion tones?
myskull54 1 year ago
@TheAxe4Ever It's called pleasure. For me this amp have a frustrating sound. Thin, fizzy, cold. If you had a lot of amps of 2 grands, why did you re-sell them ? Something sound strange here.
SuperKrakoukass 8 months ago
@SuperKrakoukass That's a fair question. I've played through Marshalls, Boogies, Laney's, Rack gear, you name it. And I loved the tone of all of them. But in my younger days, I was a tone chaser and sold gear to aquire more gear. I also mentioned, I'm 45 now, with a family, kids and all. The extent of my jamming is just for fun with friends. So I can't see the need to spent thousands on different gear. I've retubed my Valveking with excellent results. If you can afford it, buy boutique.

so is the tube screamer pretty much a necessity for this amp? im pickin up the 212 version with a black widow 212 extension cab
whitechapel696969 1 year ago
@whitechapel696969 Umm it depends what you wanna play and what kind of sound you are going for. Personally, I think for anything high gain-ish you are going to need something to boost it
4ce0fSp4des 1 year ago
is That a Marshall MG cab?
Rectumfryer 1 year ago
Hey can you tell me exactly what setup you were using? all you said was a tube screamer. I use a Boss ME-2 Metal Core pedal with it and all I get it trb and mid, no bass. Idk if its the cab or what. I'll test it out with a tube screamer.
GuitarOrDeath 1 year ago
DUde what are your settingsi have to have them and also do you know that off you get the pedal there is even more of a boost than there is on the control panel of the vk.

great playing and great tone dude! tdwp. parkway, chiodos and kilswitch songs all sounded awesome i loved listen to you play haha i played this head today at guitar center and was looking for other ppl who had it that played heavey music haha great stuff man i subbed!
mil182 1 year ago
@mil182 Thanks bro, it's cool to have people out there appreciate it! The valveking can sound great for heavy stuff (metalcore/hardcore) if you add the right stuff to it!
4ce0fSp4des 1 year ago
@4ce0fSp4des yeah i tried a 6505+ but honestly it didnt sound like it was worth double the cost of the VK i kinda liked the valve kings sound id just have to push it really hard, like you said boost it up but it sounds great. plus im hopefully buying a marshall 1960 cab from my friend. are you in a band?
mil182 1 year ago
@mil182 I was for the longest time, but then like some people lost interest, and it's hard to keep up school, work and a band. Also we opened for Miss May I and Legend, and from there the shows kind of just went downhill lol. Like playing in front of 500 people to going down to 15 is hard
4ce0fSp4des 1 year ago
@4ce0fSp4des yeah dude i understand, but thats awesome cuz miss may i is sick! theyre on tour with tdwp right now

@mil182 I know it sucks because they are playing shows 2 nights in a row at a venue where my band played a show, and I can't go see them because I am in China haha

@4ce0fSp4des haha thats crazy dude i think i might have to miss them in chicago if im on vacation =( i wish they were on warped tour.
mil182 1 year ago
What pedals are you using? I have a valveking head, but I am lacking the heaviness needed for metalcore. Sick Tone :D
bbnbband 1 year ago
@bbnbband what really makes the sound is a bbe sonic maximizer in the loop of the amp and a tube screamer in front of it. also turn treble up almost all the way and mids about halfway

could you go through your setup for me? I am looking at a valveking and I play mostly metalcore so I'd love to know what you are running in the loop and such. And are those the stock tubes because I've read quite a few reviews that they are kinda weak for metal. Thanks and great vid!

xheldatthegatesx 2 years ago
@xheldatthegatesx Its mainly the sonic maximizer in the loop that makes it better. And then a tube screamer in front of the amp
