@bigdaddymatty17 score 52 points? hes done it a couple of times. And when he did he got 9 and 11 assists to go along with it. I've never seen MJ do that.
Never said Jordan abused him in this game..But through out his career he abused clyde drexler..92 finals for sure..Also it was said that he was abusing Drexler so bad in practice with 92 dream team..The other players had too cool him off..Check it out on google..
In 1990, Clyde held MJ to 16 points in a Blazer victory.
In 1991, Clyde averaged 29.5 points on 59% shooting against MJ, and the Blazers swept the Bulls.
In 1992, Clyde averaged 32 ppg against MJ.
So Clyde fared much better against Jordan, historically, than most people think. That's why people realistically thought Clyde might be as good as MJ prior to the 92 Finals. He played him better than anyone else.
Of course, Jordan went off in Game 1 of the Finals, and the rest is history.
You can stop anytime. I've seen all the statistics.
Clyde and MJ were two different players. Clyde was never a pure scorer. Early in his career, he played alongside guys like Kiki Vandeweghe and Jim Paxson, established All-Stars who got a lot of touches.
Meanwhile, MJ played with crap players and took 60% of his team's shots.
Between 92 and 95, Clyde was hobbled with knee injuries, so I throw those years out.
Between 87 and 92, Drexler played MJ very well, as I said below.
@badpdx lmfao you throw those years out? why's that bitch? those numbers don't suit you? hey penis pump nobody said drexler was a fuckin scrub bitch.....as a matter of fact he's ten times better than any two guard who plays today that's fact..... but he's isn't shit compared to jordan. Now you acting like this game can be used against jordan is bullshit bitch and you know it lmfao therefore you lose
@waff1eirontmacsplat lmao wtf u talkin bout dwade n kobe r both better then scrub as drexler i mean hes taller then mj n hes still cudnt affect most his shots plz dont give me bs
@badpdx So lets look at this shit..drexler only scored over 40 points on Jordans defense one time.. drexler only scored over 30 points on Jordan defense two times
no offense but i think everyone gives the 90s too much credit. when do you think the term "the lost art of the mid-range jumper" started. most of the players of the 90s played physically not skillfully to compete. even chuck daly said that they had to start playin rough bcos they were not as talented as the lakers and celtics.
@coffee468 Outside of Wade and Kobe, who has a mid range game now? More people should have a mid range game being that you can't even touch anyone. It was done to increase scoring but it compromised the integrity of the game and led to a lot of inflated statistics.
pierce, dirk, melo, nash, all have a consistent mid-range game besides those 2. and i feel chuck daly having his players play rough affects the integrity of the game. that strategy is for teams who kno they dont have the skill or talent to compete, so they resort 2 bush league tactics. where is skill in fouling someone as hard as you can. thats not what the game is about
I know this is kind of late, but Jordan hardly abused Clyde in this game. Drexler's line was: 42 points, 9 assists, 8 steals and 5 rebounds. He also blocked MJ's 3 pointer late in the game to preserve the Portland victory, after which MJ laid a vicious flagrant foul on him.
Look up "Clyde Drexler 42 points Bulls" and watch for yourself.
@badpdx hey asswipe did you forget to mention only one other bull other than Jordan scored in double figures in this game? ding bat.....that's why the blazers won. Jordan personally shitted on drexler 52 points on 61 percent shooting.....then of course the next time he saw drexler in the same year of 88.....Jordan held his ass to 20 points on 38 percent shooting. while Jordan himself scored 38 points and the bulls won the game get the fuck out of here Jordan owns drexler bitch
Nice to see you haven't changed a bit. Still an ignorant 12 year old who needs to use profanity to feel like a man.
Jordan was a better player than Drexler. I've never argued that. I'm just saying Clyde played him better during his career than most people think.
If you take away Game 1 of the 1992 Finals, Jordan didn't "own" Drexler. He outplayed him most of the time, certainly. But Clyde held his own a lot better than people think.
@badpdx drexler was held under 20 on Jordan defense three timesand drexler was held under 30 on Jordans defense 12 times looks to me like Jordan was the best defensive guard of all time easily
People make me laugh with this nonsense that the NBA is "better now", lol. How many alley oops do you see any more? How many fast break finishes? How many guys can palm the ball as easily as these guys could? Players today are bulkier. That's it. They're also far slower, less agile, and dumber. MJ went up against far more SKILLED players at his position during this era than Kobe has in his. Guys like Jeff Malone, Rolando Blackmon, and Mitch Richmond have been forgotten.
Whenever I watch games from the 80s I can't help but marvel at the passing qualities and unselfishness displayed by the teams. It saddens me, because I know it won't be like that again, ever. Sure, every now and then you have teams like the Pistons or Spurs where everyone understands their role to perfection, but those qualities aren't appreciated in todays celebrity-obsessed society. People would rather see a ball hogging star going off for 40 or 50, therefore GMs built their teams that way.
There's nothing wrong with a guy getting 50, but do it in the FLOW of the game. The game today has very little flow. The level of playoff basketball today is equivalent to the level of regular season ball back then.
Even Jordan didn't do it always in the flow of the game. The beauty of basketball, or any team sport for that matter, is the team play on both ends. There's nothing more satisfying than a team that works like a Swiss clockwork and makes all the right decisions on the court.
Everyone talks about the greatness of the Bulls-Celtics series and completely ignores the amount of mistakes/mental errors committed by both teams. A dramatic series for sure, but it wasn't great basketball in my opinion.
Yeah he was...just like everybody else...especially MJ's favorite whipping boy Craig Ehlo! lol...Anyways I still remember Clyde saying that the guy who gave him more trouble was Rolando Blackman! Somebody upped it somewhere on youtube...
Who in the blue hell is Rolando Blackman! Obviously Drexler was a little jealous of MJ because of how good Clyde was, MJ just just better than him. And Drexler was a beast too.
Yeah...it woulda been more plausible had he said something like that about Magic or Bird...I mean Rolando was an excellent ball player but he's nowhere near MJ's level...
Lebron would never do this. MJ = GOAT

Hey Balthus.
I really enjoy your posts.
I wasz wandering where you get the footage of the early bullsgames. Always been a fan and wouldn't mind seeing them from start to finish once more.
Thanks again.
