  • Leon for President 2012

  • His music brings you back to another era :) And he makes me so happy when I hear him and to look at him oooooooooooooh am I ever in love xxxoooxxxx

  • Makes you cry.

  • Leon Redbone is one of the coolest cats ever, because he is what he seems, it's not an act! He's also a great musician, one of the best crooners ever (great to listen to if you want to learn to sing) and just an all round character!

I agree with those who say he's under-rated, though I can't tell you how many people I've introduced him to who are now fans! Please come to London Leon! CW Stoneking, eat your heart out! This guy's the real McCoy!

  • @artcuz1 It's not an act? Of course it's an act; just a very good one.

  • LEON HAS RIDDEN FAR, FAR TOO MANY MILES IN WILLIE'S BUS!

    ROFL!

  • The one and only. This man is a class act!

  • I dont' what the Appel Farm Folk Fest is,, but think i would like to go. If Leon was there, must be a cool place.

  • Awesome!!!

  • Comment removed

  • class act and so under rated. Not a huge fan of whistlers.... but this guy.... this man has skills :) Just awesome!

  • Leon is Mr Cool :)

  • Man oh man, what style. Love it.

  • Wow, he's a sick whistler. I thought I was a good whistler, but I don't even come close to him.

  • That old cat still has style

  • @vinneh89 He's only 61, but I guess you COULD call him "old." But yeah, he's a cool cat with great style, without question.

  • Ill bet he practices a lot.

  • just nice and cool

  • I always had the feelin' Leon was Frank Zappa's alter ego! No matter I love his music.

  • My daddy would have loved this guy!! I know that I do. Hope he'll perform at my coffeehouse in the near future (It's a big coffeehouse)! We love him in Carlisle, MA!!!! Oh yes we do! And I talk about him ALL the time when he's gone. ;-)

  • I saw Leon perform last night.... what an enjoyable evening! He said his doctor told him to take one pill 3 times a day. He replied to him "I can't do that"

  • just ...beautiful............

  • Truly a great entertainer.

  • Awful "camerawork" - what a shame.

  • Classic. :)

  • A living legend and national treasure.

  • Leon recorded White Christmas &sounded likeBing Crosby only better.

  • I'M AN UPCOMING BLUES ARTIST IN NEED OF SUBSCRIBERS.... My style is 1930ish blues. My songs are original. I hope and goal is to bring back a forgotten sound to this new generation. Thanks to all those who will subscribe. My first upload song and introduction to the world will be soon,

    seth edward

  • good good armenian man

  • Superb!!!, he has a voice like a singing Clarinet :), So Mellow

  • Man.... He is such a fantastic guitar player. Once, just ONCE I would like to see him bust out a Jimmy-Page-type guitar solo. It would be no problem for him, obviously. =)

  • sweeeeet!

  • this guy is way too slick.

  • @220denyse He's also a real scumbag as a "human being."

  • @SatchmoSings isn't he saying "pls don't talk about me when i'm gone"?

  • @220denyse I talk that way about him while he's alive.

He did that Budweiser commercial some years ago and privately admitted that Bud is crap; that's one of his better moments.

  • @220denyse all i know is he has a unique style of music. as for being a "human being" maybe he is human like the rest of us?

  • Absolutely awesome! I grew up on rock and roll but I love his voice. One of a kind.

  • The Greatest Concert I ever been to was Tom Waits and Leon redbone at the Warner Theater in Wash DC

  • ;-)

  • I have been fortunate enough to have seen Leon live twice. My father used to sing me some of these songs when I was three or four...I'm 52 now, and they're still magic. He's good by himself, but I really enjoyed him with a few extra musicians, expecially clarinet, tuba etc.

  • I AAAINT GOT NO REASON NOT TO LIKE THIS.You are the best,I hope you live forever!

  • Hey I'm from Hamilton. Us Hippy's wahed queen Victoria in Dontown park. OMG memories. I've been enjoying Redbone a long time one of the best.

  • yes, j'adore ;-)

  • Big Bad Bill is sweeeeet William now ♪

  • AWESOME!!!I want to hear big bad bill,Please!

  • he is too good. i'm going to see him next march for the 8 or 9th time. it's over four months away and i'm excited already!

  • Leon's the best. I wish we could clone him. Truly one of a kind.

If you watch his other live videos, he's a riot too.

  • One of a kind

  • He's playing here on Sunday...can't wait!

  • Who is cooler than Leon?

  • No one, and I mean NO ONE, is cooler than the Redbone.

  • No one. Leon is the kewlest dude who has ever been born. He is Genius.

  • @bluestreakbuck I will never be cooler than Mr Redbone.... But I will try to come close. :)

  • @bluestreakbuck not me but my goal is to get real close to be as cool as mr redbone. :)

  • @bluestreakbuck Noooooooooooooo Body!

  • @bluestreakbuck NOBODY!

  • @bluestreakbuck >>>>>>>yah! this guy's my sister Dottie's favorite Dude. Dr. John is another and Tony Rice's song about a 'carpentar' on his "Church Street Blues, "CD. She also loves the music of Keith Whitley.

  • he's a really good guitar player... his voice is so fascinating that you forget that fact!

  • Long time ago i heard some Leon Redbone...Very special guy and own sound..Magic!!!!

    Love the Whistle too...:-)

  • DOES HE STILL PERFORM..... i sure hope so

  • He still does perform, he is playing in Hamilton Ontario this weekend,(Aug,8,9) I am lucky enough to live in Hamilton, and its a free outdoor show !!!

  • Leon Redbone: 'nuff said....

  • just great !! The styles of so many and their past.Encore Encore !! Leon;Hooker,Atkins, add on.Pluckers o'da axe !! tHANKS FOR SHARING !!

  • Good ol Leon! We need more whistling in the world, he makes it sound so sweet.

  • Always loved the music he plays

  • Goddamn, this guy has an awesome voice.

  • I spent about 9 hours with this guy and barely ever understood a word he said!

  • Great stuff. Thanks to BocaFriend for the share.

  • He looks like Weekend at Bernie's !!!

  • blueginat14 is NOW changed username to

    Quadrant14 people,

and I love this guy Leon Redbone for all time

  • this guy is channeling a spirit.

  • I live in Australia, he visited only once {I then think the drama with his Record Company started}.

When the stage lights came on there was a man in a white suit, Panama hat, sitting in a whicker chair surrounded by palms.

He never left the seat, sang the 1st song which lives on in my memory from 1981 and still my fav Champagne Charlie. Harmonica, whistle, this guy blew me away, one of the great at old style music that he and people like Ry Cooder and Tom Waites keep alive.

    A MASTER

  • You also now have your very own C.W. Stoneking to add to that list.

  • Leon Redbone is keeping this great music and the style it was played in back in the 20's and 30's alive. The cat's a master of the idium. He's the link to men like Blind Willie McTell and all those street serenaders. Leon, always a pleasure.

  • You don't have to like him, but Tiny Tim was not a flash-in-the-pan. Yeah, he was an odd fellow, no two ways about it. But he was an acknowledged expert on that old music, he performed it 'cause he loved it, and he sang it from his heart.

  • My all time favorite,

    what wonderful "Tongue In Cheek!"

For fun - go to FLICKR and

do a search on "leon redbone workout."

  • Just saw Leon last night, September 26, 2008....brilliant!!

  • This comment is comming from a guy with a pretty wide range in music (metalica, avenged sevenfold, hip hop, oldies, punk etc...) I have to say Leon is as good as they get.A true artist!I just hope I get to see him live someday.

  • Mr Cool!!

  • Tiny Tim may be thought of as a novelty acy or a "gimmick" but he had a true affinity for the music of that era, its obvious in his talent. Neither of these greats are just "acts"...theyre the real deal.

  • Leon is king - but his sets are way too short. I've seen him three times and the longest that he played was 55 minutes (first time I saw him it was only 45 minutes). He's got way too many great songs to play such short sets (he didn't play "Seduced" at any of those gigs much to my dismay) - - a little ain't enough!

  • Yeah, that's a shame, Gut. I just saw him last night in Three Oaks Michigan. He played a full hour and a half set. Simply fantastic, and a great sense of humor. He had the audience laughing between every song. His whistling portion of his show almist had you in tears. It was amazing.

  • Leon Redbone has been around since at least 1970 - saw him at the St Lawrence Centre in Toronto in '73. Don't compare him to a flash-in-the-pan like Tiny Tim.

  • leon and leo,you can't beat that!

  • IMHO, Tiny Tim was a gimmick artist.

  • Leon and Leo Kottke are playing here on the 22nd of this month! I'm stoked, I've seen Leo Kottke here once before when I was first getting into guitar. Inspirational to say the least. . .

  • Once I stumbled - in my hectic life - and heard the softest of voices whisper a tune to my ear. Time was still and the clouds rolled no further until the tip of a hat signaled all was clear.

  • HOT DOG a real artist, I could listen to him all noght.

  • I did.. and do.

  • you shoulda just kicked his ass

  • believe it or not but im trying to lead my guitar playing and voice towards leons style, but i dont think ill ever be able to wistle like that. great vid

  • Tubyubber: my deepest appologies. I thought you were cracking-wise about Leon, when you were rightfully commenting on morons. Sorry for my knee-jerk post.

    Viva Leon Redbone!

  • Tubyubber: you are an idiot.

  • He's always done my favorite rendition of this song!

He's really one of the greatest ever.

    so great...love it

  • well, the unique thing about this is, he really doesn't need drums :) great video

  • and what the fuck is the guy with the hat coming in at 3:50something..... why the fuck would walk around hearing music like this? sit the hell down! damn

  • this guy can whistle. damn. other people have guitar solos, and the best known guy who only does 1920's/1930's music does whistling solos. awesome.

  • Pretty red and green :-)

  • Can't find Walking Stick on Youtube--you sure you posted it? I'm a huge fan, who has all of his records.

  • Walking stick is now posted. Look for it.

  • More Leon! Hopefully, someone has some more stuff to post. He was on SNL quite a few times. Buy his Christmas CD "Christmas Island." It is really the best x-mas cd made. He has Dr John and some great backups.

    Thanks again!

  • Would you stop already? Every Redbone video on here has the same thing posted to it from you. If they have it and feel like posting it, they'll post it!

  • Lighten up Francis.....

  • mr cool!

  • "Leon"!

  • Walking Stick was written by Hoagy Carmichael.

  • First saw Leon on SNL way back. I love his sound. Does he have a song out called Walking Stick ? Somehow I remember that for some odd reason .

  • Leon is always as smooth as Tennessee whiskey!!!

  • Leon is it.! Fantastic!

    Tom Warner = tdub1941

  • Catch him live if you can! I saw him most recently about two years ago and I still smile when I think about it.

  • Leon still sounds good after all these years!

  • he good

  • Thanks for posting this - I haven't seen him live for many years since he seems to have stopped touring in Europe. Great video - brings it all back.

  • He doesn't like to fly after having a very bad experience several years ago - a crash, or near crash. Can't say that I blame him. :-(

    - Jamaica

  • OH LEON! i do not understand why you are not among the most well known singers of your time, which i am pleased to see is STILL GOING STRONG!You are in a class of one, NOBODY SOUND LIKE YOU! MARRY ME!

  • Mercy!
