I think the nook is really good because in my local library you can checkout books on the nook and get it for free for 3 weeks! Im not sure if you can do that on the kindle but i dont think so!
If my BN.com account were disabled, would I continue to have access to my book purchases? Would I have access to my downloaded content if my NOOK were to be offline? I am really considering this product. Thanks for the review.
i have another question, how do i transfer files from my laptop to the e-reader? does it work like a usb port device? thanks! do i have to pay for all the book i will download or is there an option to download free books? thanks!
thanks for that! which do you recommend? the nook 1st edition or the all-new nook the non-colored one? my budget is tight... my budget is below $200 only. thanks!
WARNING : Do not hook this up to your computer it will down loud programs that crash your compter. Barnes & Noble has programs that lock onto your computer to get informatiion about you. This software is under investigation for linking all your information to a main database.
@NASTYKILLA112 Well, if you want a heavier slower and thicker but touchscreen model, go with the nook. If you want cheaper books compared to Barnes and Noble, go with kindle 3. I have the kindle 3 and nook(color).
In the Daily, I saw there was one thing called "The New Yorker" under subscriptions. How does that work? Is it like a full newspaper delivered to your Nook via the 3G connection? Is it actually... daily? Do you need to pay for a NYT subscription separately somewhere?
I find this interesting because to get something comparable on the iPad you need to pay for a data plan, which is kind of a pain.
i got a brand new nook reader a while ago... i broke after a month of use, and being in Europe i do not have any warranty what so ever :( .
my friend's nook broke a day later.... it seems that there nooks have a serious problem, if you take it from your home outside in a backpack or something , and it's winder out.... the temperature difference will break the nook completely.
do not buy a nook if you do not have access to a warranty service.
Im trying to decide on a Nook or a Nook Color. Both are affordable to me. I have a huge question about the Nook Color. Is the Nook Color clear and nice to read outdoors or is there a major glare.
I love my kindle, got it today. But i lpve how thr nook screen isnt so.... Werrid like the kindle. Like its an old arcade game the way the screen transitions.
But the nook has a bright light like phones n laptops so it can bring on migranes if i stay on too long most times. Unlike the kindle the e ink inst backlight so everything isnt all bright (although it would be nice if o could read under the covers :( }
My last point being they are both great, if only the kindles transitions :(( if u c
@4EveryLyrics yes but they have a "Free friday" book for the Nook and now the Nook has Interent i got the Nook today it is GREAT. i t may take some time getting used to but its good :)
@moblietechreview Hi i really liked your review on the nook but can you book mark the page in your book your reading so you dont have to find the page you need every time?
Not that I'm saying your review was bad, it was actually an excellent review. You've helped me make up my mind. As a 12 year old, I read a lot (I'm reading the Left Behind series) And I decided on the Kindle. Great review though!
@mermaidbestfriends53 depends on what you are interested in features. You can borrow ebooks from your public library (if they have a digital library) - you can't do that with a Kindle. That would save a lot of money.

Adding - you can also read for free 1 hr per day at Barnes & Noble stores. Any ebook you want to read. That is a big saver too.
Author George D. Contakos shares a regular guy’s story of how, whatever the situation is, it can be changed for the better. Every positive effort I put out there, I will be equally rewarded.

I was really interested to see what people would think about nook, as I've worked at my local BN for about 6months now. Just as a heads up nook has a Beta web browser now, though without the java capabilities at this time. 'Lend Me' has also been refined, but I am not sure about the initial PDF issues. The one at our store never had any problems.
Good review, it was honest and without bias.(we are required to not refer to 'nook' as NOOK or 'the' Nook or suffer the punishment of stoning)
I have one. I prefer it over the kindle because i really like touch screens.
My Pros: Free G is great, e-ink easy on the eyes for prolonged reading, you can download ebooks online in many places for free (as well as the thousands barns and nobles offers)
Cons:
A little slow in the lcd response for page changing. sd card requires a restart (not only to put in but sometimes 2 times to enable all your book.)
