@cobolsaurus Faulting Cimino for having an ego is like faulting a football player for having testosterone. Ego is the fuel Hollywood runs on. And him having an ego says nothing about the finished film.
It's completly unclear to me why the immigrants attacked in such a rush and killed themselves in carriage accidents. Next they run into their enemies without cover (but the enemies also don't cover).
@Jimbothy Perhaps there is a slight difference between a mouse being killed by a predator (cat) and a horse being blown up with dynamite for the only purpose of making a movie. But then again maybe I'm just crazy.
A beautiful scene from what I consider a great film. True, it does take it's time and is more than a little self-indulgent, but I fail to see why anyone would think it's one of the worst films ever.
Thanks for posting this clip. I thought this scene was incredible. While I do agree that this movie drags in certain parts, this scene more than makes up for it.
How many bloody times does Jeff Bridges say "Get down!!" or "Take cover!!!" Should have been edited down...

If you read "Final Cut" you'll see how full of himself cimino was, it's unbelievable... Those oscars for the deer hunter really got up in his head...

A fucking awful film which rightly flopped. I wish Kristofferson had died of lung cancer 30 years ago.

@cobolsaurus
So? Animals are hurt in nature, you've never seen a cat playing with a mouse, batting and toying it until it submits to death?
