Billy is a legend in his own mind. He really has no reason to think he is some great rock star. He is not very good on the guitar and his vocals are absolutely sinus terrible! James played all the tough riffs. D'arcy played a mean bass and Jimmy was the driving force of the Smashing Pumpkins. I think he has over achieved thanks to a little help from his friends. I have never once heard any accomplished musician say a good word about Billy Corgan.
@xxmickeyzeroxx Thats quite innacurate. Billy is 10x the guitarist James was technically. Some of Corgan's live solos were quite astonishing and he plays with a very fluid quality. James was a mediocre guitarist at best who I feel had a hard time keeping up at times. I'm not one to usually toot Billy's horn, but he deserves more credit than you just gave him. You should check out more than just the singles from this band. Corgan was an extremely dynamic composer and guitarist.

lol. Strats don't really like low tunings, especially drop C. It's achieve able through setup, but it's a pain. I'd take the Reverend guitar he used to record this song over the Strat for that purpose. Designed for correct oscillation and operation at a lower tuning.
I don't care if this may sound awful or not: I loved the Pumpkins, I do love them and I will always do. Times change, people change, and in this case one can't sound the same all the time. Billy grew up, and with him also his style and thoughts and influences. If I were him, I would have just changed the band name, since all the former members left, but oh well.. GO BILLY! You're one of the best musicians ever.

I dont think this was the Smashing Pumpkins low point...I think after the freakin' MASTERPIECE that was Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness...Billy tried to go digital and mellow with Adore..and when his fans didn't really dig it too much.. he tried to get back to where he once belonged..and that was Machina 1.. but I liked the vibe on this album..he just couldn't recreate the wormhole that took us to Mellon Collie....

Billy is a legend in his own mind. He really has no reason to think he is some great rock star. He is not very good on the guitar and his vocals are absolutely sinus terrible! James played all the tough riffs. D'arcy played a mean bass and Jimmy was the driving force of the Smashing Pumpkins. I think he has over achieved thanks to a little help from his friends. I have never once heard any accomplished musician say a good word about Billy Corgan.

@xxmickeyzeroxx Thats quite innacurate. Billy is 10x the guitarist James was technically. Some of Corgan's live solos were quite astonishing and he plays with a very fluid quality. James was a mediocre guitarist at best who I feel had a hard time keeping up at times. I'm not one to usually toot Billy's horn, but he deserves more credit than you just gave him. You should check out more than just the singles from this band. Corgan was an extremely dynamic composer and guitarist.

@citizenoftheall 15 years from now the people who grew up on Lil Wayne will ask why he is not on TV anymore. 15 years ago people wondered what happened to Dokken. We are like every other generation. The differences are details. Fortunately, we are in an era with good recording technology and internet, so we still have access to music.

@citizenoftheall I don't even watch music TV or listen to radio anymore. I realize that my taste is unique and there is no channel for me. I like a variety of music and listen to songs in an order that each song sounds very different from the one before it. I come here and make a playlist. My playlist now has rock, country, several kinds of metal, gospel, polka, techno, Celtic folk, pop, rap, motown, Japanese jazz, disco, Dean Martin, Macy Gray. And this of course. Find that on a TV channel!

I just started listening last year. I typically don't like jazz, but some of it is okay. A lot of the songs I like I found recently because I look for more music. But I haven't stopped liking music I "should have grown out of" like NSYNC, Winnie the Pooh, Bananas in Pajamas. I expand. So much music, so little time.

a lot of people criticize billy for using the smashing pumpkins name with the new line-up, but a lot less people would respond to the name 'billy corgan' than to 'the smashing pumpkins' based simply upon the fact that joe shit music listener might not know who 'billy corgan' is. i support him for doing it because sometimes you gotta do whatever it takes to support your art and to get it to as many people as possible!!

so even if they changed the name it would work,i mean,most people dont know about Zwan,but everyone who's ever heard of the Smashing Pumpkins knows its Billy Corgan,and im pretty sure its because of his voice,talent,and uniqueness in general

lol. Strats don't really like low tunings, especially drop C. It's achieve able through setup, but it's a pain. I'd take the Reverend guitar he used to record this song over the Strat for that purpose. Designed for correct oscillation and operation at a lower tuning.

I don't care if this may sound awful or not: I loved the Pumpkins, I do love them and I will always do. Times change, people change, and in this case one can't sound the same all the time. Billy grew up, and with him also his style and thoughts and influences. If I were him, I would have just changed the band name, since all the former members left, but oh well.. GO BILLY! You're one of the best musicians ever.

I think I know why, either they smoked too much pot and burned out some important brain cells or they just have that connection with youth, past memories and music. Its great but this is that band for me.

its fair enough they have favorite albums... but they shouldnt criticise the other albums works they did :)

I dont think this was the Smashing Pumpkins low point...I think after the freakin' MASTERPIECE that was Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness...Billy tried to go digital and mellow with Adore..and when his fans didn't really dig it too much.. he tried to get back to where he once belonged..and that was Machina 1.. but I liked the vibe on this album..he just couldn't recreate the wormhole that took us to Mellon Collie....
