  • i like the dually and nose pressure head collars but i hate poll pressure, it's not cruel i just don't like it lol if i need pressure cos my horse is playing up etc i just wrap the lead rope around his nose above the noseband on my headcollar, i rarely need to use it though

  • actually a war bridle or a "dually" halter are great for those horses that are not respectful. Safety first...and training for "good manners" is a must....

  • Wow, what a great way to bruise and cause pain in your horse without teaching him by using quite methods that incorporate communicating with the horse in his language. If you are worried about her rearing or reacting violently to the war bridle, then why are you bothering to use it at all? I would be antagonist toward it if I were her too. It doesn't take much to teach a horse how to lead without using painful methods.

  • @katphoti Thanks for comments. You're correct that it doesn't take much to teach a horse to lead but there is more to leading a horse than the horse just walking beside you. In many cases, horse owners want the horse to respond to very light pressure on the halter, learn to move away from the handler and respect each others personal space. Moderate use of a war bridle or rope halter can facilitate this lightest and does not and should not be used all the time, but just as a refresher.
