  • go bonnie go-

  • @moonshinealice , THANXXXXX "MUCHLY" for posting

  • RT must smile warmly when he hears this lass smoothly present his art.

  • Magnificent.

  • my girls gotta do this one , it is sooo beautiful ,..

  • You need to hear Kerosene Halo's cover of this song!

  • Wish Kate Rusby would cover this. Probably blow this cover to pieces. This is far too harsh, needs to be sung gently.

  • @mr1168726 Well it all comes down to a matter of taste, doesnot it?

  • @DirkjeA Of course, just a personal observation/ preference.

  • @DirkjeA Just seen your homepage, noticed you like the Great Rory Gallagher. I love his music. Have you ever heard him do " Leaving Town Blues" with Peter Green? Once again, in my opinion, the two BEST EVER Blues players from England & Ireland. This particular song takes my head off. Used to see them in the 60s, amazing.

  • @mr1168726 Pity, I tried to look for it here on YT, but could only find one version of them together. Found the one Veluby uploaded, and than someone commented that it was only Rory and Peter Green was not playing along. So maybe someone is going to share it with us someday I hope. The song Leaving Town Blues, written by Peter Green, is awesome, I knew that for a long time. Wanted to watch your channel too to see what favs you have, but was not able to access, shame......

  • @DirkjeA Sorry, I too tried to get them playing it together on YT, but like you, was unable to get it. Good thing is though, you can get it on a free Media Converter.. The one I use is the Wizard , available on the web, totally safe, and legal. Good luck, let me know what you think once you've downloaded it. Take Care Eh?

  • This version of this song is always inspirational to me

  • this is music wouldnt be on Idol or black radio but is music in its white a purest form!!!

  • what a song!!!!!!!!love it

  • Could anything be more bittersweet than Bonnie singing the exquisite song?

  • As our days keep dimming, our only companion is Jesus who is going to be with us forever and ever. It is His promise.

  • Love, love, love this version!! Very special song!!!

  • LOVE this version. But the one that blew me away was done by Art Neville!

  • TRACY... I SEND THIS TO YOU AS A VIDEO LOVE LETTER. AM i A ROMANTIC OR WHAT.

  • Wow, Ms. Raitt with a Taylor...and yes, beautiful song...

  • Great song

  • One of the really amazing versionsof this song is sung by 9 yr old AJ Lee, who also plays mando and fiddle by the way. She is guaranteed to impress. She does it in the style of Bonnie.

  • Gawd, that was good.....

  • I dearly love Sir Dave, but his version can't hold a candle to this.

You can tell Bonnie loves this song.

    Best Regards,

    e

    .::.

  • I dont care who has also recorded this beautiful song. This is the only version i'd want to listen to.Wonderful!!!

  • Here's a tip - go out and find Clive Gregson, Jody Stecher & Boo Hewardine's trio performance of this piece. Absolutely drop-dead gorgeous.

  • gets me in the gut.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU BONNIE RAITT!!! ESPECIALLY THIS MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Are you kidding me!? No idea how to perform a soulful performance!? Holy smokes buddy.. you apparently don't know much about Bonnie Raitt do you. She is only THE female icon of soul

  • The original by Richard and Linda Thompson is still the finest.

  • Such a favorite of mine, thank you!

  • Lovely!!!!!

  • I have always loved this version. A true, artist- she makes you feel pain for the "other woman." Check out the Corr's version too, less passion, but great family harmony.

  • @calliefrances - I agree that the Corr's version has LESS passion.

  • This Lady Kicks Gilmour and all right off any chart. Have you listened to her songs? Gilmour is better playing in a band than solo. He is a great guitarist..no doubt..But Bonnie Rocks. I could listen to this song forever.

  • I'm drowning in a river of my tears....

  • what a music and songs

i am very rarely impressed and this song or gospel impresses so much that it effects my soul

  • So beautiful

  • One of my very favorite songs, The very best version.

  • Richard Thompson is a genius in song writing and guitar playing. Regardless of who sings this ( and Bonnie Raitt does one hell of a job ) I think this is one of the best love songs ever written !

  • this is soooo much better than gilmours version its a classic!!!

  • Love the way she does this song. Actually, as good a songwriter & guitarist Richard T is, I tend to like his songs better when done by other artists, but he's still great regardless!

  • "Straight to the soul and without delay, youve given me the strength to face the next day" BC

  • The version on "Beat the Retreat" by the Blind Boys of Alabama is extremely good too, as is the one of Bonnie and the "Boys" doing Thompson's "When the Spell is Broken."

  • Love this song...my parents used to play her tapes all the time growing up....good memories

  • THIS is the version of all time, it's not supposed to rock, dimwit,it's a bloody ballad.

  • the very best version i mean the VERY BEST version of this song is by clive gregson and any trouble from the album wheels in motion .. some one please post it and let me know .

cause im drowning in a river of my own tears ..

such a beautiful lyric and melody

i hope my angel will find this and know ....

i need you at the dimming of the day

  • like this . . .

  • I have to vote for Ms. Raitt on this one! I have loved this song since I bought her "I Can't Make You Love Me" album back in the day...damn it's been 20 years yet. I think the Celtic roots in her voice give her the edge over the other versions and what the heck is wrong with the guitar work? The only thing missing from this performance is a proper mic check, which apparently no one did, 'cause the guitars sound great but there is static in the vocal track.

  • The first time I heard this song was on the David Gilmour DVD. Both my wife and I cried a wee bit. ...it's not a small song.

I'd have thought the same if I'd heard this version, and indeed Mr Thompson's original.

I've never heard David Gilmour do a duet with a women...........Please think about this one Sir

  • Great song!!

  • This song riminds me my trip in France and England in summer 2001...I got it in my head with all the pictures of that wonderful countries...It will always be a part of my life.

  • Beautiful

  • Heart Breaker Love This...... Old School

  • yes its all about the guittar

  • ooooooh. aren't we clever. fuck off.

  • How do I find mp3iiiiify to download this song? I was told to google mp3iiiiify.

  • prefer this than gilmours,

  • what a song and great powerfull voice.i used to practise and sing this in iraq to pass time!if you've tried it you'd apreciate the scale of her voice.i was shite! think as my first introduction to utube i'll have a go and put it on.see if i can get more than 10 viewers!!

  • Beautiful song,,,,, I also love David Gilmours version...... Is that Richard Simmons on guitar seriously

  • Anyone still searching for great new music in a similar vein should check Freebo (bonnies bassplayer) recent albums, just great folk music and he does amazingly intimate live shows around the country all the time. Check his website freebomusic

  • Great song, great video and great singer

  • She has such a beautiful voice.

  • Dave Gilmour is the top at this.

  • Agree. Gilmour's version is so much better, and that's not taking anything away from this performance.

  • Old Richard does tend to pour down like silver, perhaps he's the doyen of acoustic musicians and their craft.

His erstwhile Glaswegian wife is the only chanteusse to deliver it in its introspective complexity.

  • My favourite version of all....its a great song for sure from the pen of Richard.

  • I love this song, so many versions, love Richard Thompson's version adn David Gilmour but this has a magic, the guitar work is so sweet and breath taking on this cover...

  • @JoyG54 Also try Allison Krauss' version. Truly haunting

  • michael ball has done the best version of this song in my opinion, but this is nice

  • I agree with you, Michael Ball's version is the best of all I have heard so far. Nevertheless her version is great and so are the others. I guess it's up to what kind of interpretation and voice you prefer. It's a beautiful song anyway.

  • one of my favourites

  • will certainly check that out.... but in the meantime i must say this is a fabulous cover

  • clive gregson .. any trouble the best versions of this great song

ANY TROUBLE ...YOU MUST CHECK THEM OUT

  • i love this song - written by Richard Thompson, and sung by an angel ....

  • You must check out A J Lee's version. She's a talented little girl.

  • @thriftywoman David gilmour ( of Pink Floyd ) also did a great version. check it out on the You tube.

  • Love Bonnie too, but check out this little girl's version: youtube(dot)com/watch?v=MoVzFJWTY_8

Pretty impressive for a 10 yr. old (just turned 11). :))

  • youns are all stoned...Bonnie is the BEST!!!

  • Love it!! As always, beautiful performance.

  • This might be the most beautiful song i've ever heard... just her voice alone...it's AMAZING

  • After all of these - how about a hand for the songwriter - Richard Thompson. His vocal's not as pretty as Bonnie' s, but the guitar is allright!

  • I heard Bonnie Raitt sing this song on the Prairie Home Companion Radio Show with Garrison Keillor just the other day. It was absolutely beautiful! :)

  • you are right Gilmours version kicks ass!

  • Gilmour looks and sounds like an aging busker

  • What do you mean? He IS an aging busker he busked with Sid in the early 60s in the south of France. Even got arrested I believe.

  • @Smashinz2002 Q-tips

  • @Smashinz2002 Then why bother to bother listening?.......who is the one with the talent here? Not you for sure....

  • @Smashinz2002

    You have zero ears!!

  • @Smashinz2002

    You have zero ears!!

  • @Smashinz2002 I think Bonnie's lovely voice really suits this song. This song needs the long notes.

  • @moonshinealice Well at least he doesn't use Bonnie Raitt's name on the title. He uses his own name. I applaud that. Oh yeah his version is nicely put together.

  • @moonshinealice you are the stupidest fucking idiot on this planet moon shine you're fucking ass to the dark planet

  • Comment removed

  • Just watch Richard Thompsons version for the ultimate guitar performance.

  • @loomisaero bonnie kicks daves ass on this one.

  • @glennkyle1

Every version is different, and fits different moods. Even the Mary Black one is alright, because of the song it is. It's like Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, endless debates about which one is the best. But there are only two types of music, good music and bad music.

  • @loomisaero But then Bonnie does the better singing. Actually, i don't give a d**n about who performs it, it's just another great Richard Thompson song.

  • @loomisaero Gilmour is the best

  • @loomisaero I am also in agreement... David Gilmour's version is supercharged with a much more soulful melody, and the guitar part is sprinkled with notes than further enhances the song. But then he is the master of melodic lead guitar.

  • @loomisaero I agree. This version is severely lacking in spirit. It's as if she does not feel a thing from this, and is only trying to 'show off' her voice or something.. Very poor in my opinion. Gilmour does a wonderful job performing this piece however, and I highly recommend a listen of it.

  • @loomisaero Both are great but this song is a lyrical masterpiece. Therefore the vocals far exceed the instrumentation in impact and importance. This version wins, if there must be a "winner."

  • The guitar part is better.

BUT! This song is in overall better :D

    I like here voice

  • The guitar part is better.

BUT! This song is in overall better :D

    I like here voice

  • I think this song is on its highest when Bonnie Raitt sings it with one guitar only, no bass or second guitar.

  • yea there is definitely something about her version-this live one-that stays with you-gets under your skin. like it's painful but so pretty you make yourself feel it anyway.

  • Nobody does it like Bonnie

  • Bonnie's version is great check out Mary Black??

  • is that a question?

  • Just beautiful -- the song, the performance and the artist! Thanks for posting this!!!

  • this is one of the best songs bonnie

raitt has ever recorded. it is exceptional.

i love it and i always think about those

i have lost and miss so much,

especially at the dimming of the day.

thanks for posting this beautiful song.

  • I swear this song ..gets to me in a big way.. Thank you moonshinealice for posting this awesong song,No one sings it quite like her.
