I credit my perfect 0.7 hip-to-waist ratio to my mixed ancestry. I've gone up in weight by 11 pounds, and down in weight by 11 pounds, but the "golden ratio" remains the same. I doubt Latin America's 'under' development, in comparison to the West, is due to its diverse gene pool being the result of European conquest because that's how genetic diversity came about in the superpower, the USA.
Thanks for your question. Once again, I'm not a historian, but I disagree that Brazilian and US genetic diversity are similar. Very little of the American gene pool comes from Native Americans because the Europeans in the US were horribly good at conquering. The founding fathers of the USA were still conquerors (full blooded Europeans) they just decided to form their own team. But when Brazil became independent it was the formerly conquered in charge. Just a theory.
I don't know if you've read "Breeding Between the Lines" but in Chapter 7 I talk a little about Brazil's genetic diversity and how it's impacted racial issues there.

The author is not saying multiracial people are necessarily smarter, healthier or more attractive than single race people. He just said that, genetically speaking, when you mix a diverse set of genes you are more LIKELY to get good results. All geneticists, agricultural scienists and dog breeders know this. When you have fewer genetic problems, you are more likely to have symmetry, which is one important aspect of beauty (Brad Pitt's face is very symmetrical, for instance).

as far as i know mixed bread dogs have SERIOUS problems with illnesses - and there he is saying how 'they are so healthy' lol - if anything, mixing dogs makes it wose. - they die younger than other dogs and in general have problems.

The problem with this idea is it only works for two genetically depressed populations that have been inbred for too long, for example, ornamental plants that have been artificialy selected for a certain type of petal without regard to other vital traits that affect health, growth and reproduction. I've never seen a Jew look down on race-mixing. They're well aware of the genetic problems that have occurred from generations of inbreeding (poor vision, overcrowding in the mouth). The question is, are whites? I don't think they're consciously aware of their OWN genetic shortcomings (lupus, MS, cystic fibrosis, irritable bowel syndrome, Tay Sachs, Parkinson's, Crohn's disease, Alzheimer's) are just some examples of diseases that affect whites almost exclusively.

All-in-all, I don't really think it matters so much whether a person is mixed-race as whether a person is just plain attractive & has the biological markers of youth, health, fertility, and virility that we are all drawn to, as well as being drawn (by scent) to those who are genetically dissimilar (regardless of what they look like on the outside - they can be the same race and still be genetically dissimilar). So race-mixing is not going anywhere as long as we share a common space.

Well, I'm no historian, but I would argue that there are a lot of factors that go into a nation's development other than the good genes of its citizens. Latin America's genetic diversity is in a large part due to European conquest, which isn't exactly a great foundation for success.
On the bright side, Brazil ranks 64th in GDP per capita, but is probably 1st in supermodels per capita. :)

Thanks for your question. Once again, I'm not a historian, but I disagree that Brazilian and US genetic diversity are similar. Very little of the American gene pool comes from Native Americans because the Europeans in the US were horribly good at conquering. The founding fathers of the USA were still conquerors (full blooded Europeans) they just decided to form their own team. But when Brazil became independent it was the formerly conquered in charge. Just a theory.

The author is not saying multiracial people are necessarily smarter, healthier or more attractive than single race people. He just said that, genetically speaking, when you mix a diverse set of genes you are more LIKELY to get good results. All geneticists, agricultural scienists and dog breeders know this. When you have fewer genetic problems, you are more likely to have symmetry, which is one important aspect of beauty (Brad Pitt's face is very symmetrical, for instance).

Oh, one additional comment to add on the subject of mixed people. It is true that not every mix will have positive results but most will. If both parents, for example, carry a recessive gene for a bad blood disease, doesn't have to be the same kind even, the child would be doomed if it received both. If the parents both had very weird features this also could come come out not as good altho still usually better looking than the parents.

I am biracial. I am female. My IQ is 127 (I've been tested). In the second grade I was placed in the gifted program. In the sixth grade I won a national poetry award. My measurements are 36-24-40. I have always questioned whether being mixed put me at a disadvantage, despite my subjective experience telling me otherwise.
My partner is quite attractive, and I can assume our children will be as well, since they will also be biracial.

I would suggest you read a book but I don't want to scare you off the point. Instead, try watching "The Ascent of Man" - a documentary on the evolution of cultural and human advancement. It might give you an idea of how we are where we are (in the West) not solely through our own endeavors. The baton has been being passed around from peoples to peoples for millions of years and that essential process will continue. Whether you believe it or not :)

It's actually the opposite. "Pure" breed dogs are known to suffer far more congenital diseases than mongrels. They have a shorter lifespan, are generally less intelligent and suffer an array of neurological disorders, which you simply do not find in mongrel dogs. In fact there are no known congenital diseases attributed to being a mongrel dog.
The general health of the dog increases exponentially by the degree of "mixture" in the dog too.
