I like Penn and Teller and like the show BS, but they do the same thing here they do on all episodes. They pick a strawman argument then make it look as if they debunk it. There are answers to all their sarcastic questions. There are reasons why stoning and selling people into slavery are no longer practiced; we are under the new covenant that Jesus Christ brought about with His resurrection from the dead.
There are reasons why 2000 years later we are still talking about Him and not the other first and second century people who called themselves messiahs. This has more to do with the fact that people who followed Him and saw Him after He rose form the dead were put to death rather than recant what they saw. If they were lying or had made the story up they would not have been willing to die for something that they knew was a lie.
Another reason is that after He ascended into heaven God gave the Holy Spirit to help Christ’s followers in spreading the good news of His saving redemptive work on the cross. Sharing with all who were willing to listen, that their sins were paid for on the cross and if they followed Him they would live forever in His presence.
It is true that you cannot prove that something doesn’t exist and that the burden of proof is on us believers to show why we believe, but at least if you choose not to believe think for yourselves and consider the evidence instead of just listening to what Penn and Teller have to say about it.

I am an agnostic. I have read the Bible and there is a lot of crap in it. But there is some good in it. Some great poetry and narrative can be found, so it has artistic value. There are reasons why 2000 years later we are still talking about Him and not the other first and second century people who called themselves messiahs. This has more to do with the fact that people who followed Him and saw Him after He rose form the dead were put to death rather than recant what they saw. The claim of 2 billion christians is made by claiming that everyone who lives in a so called christian country is a praticing christian. But I live in the UK and out of 62 million people only 6 per cent regularly attend church and only ten per cent claim to be practicing christians. So atheist and agnostics are clearly in the majority.

I am an agnostic. I have read the Bible and there is a lot of crap in it. But there is some good in it. Some great poetry and narrative can be found, so it has artistic value. As for religious stuff, the only thing I read that should be used by a believer is the 8 beatitudes, its the only real constructive speech I can remember. If Christians kept it and burned the rest Christianity would be way better.
