There were 4 great goals in this game. Ffirst, Bertuzzi leaped through the crease to back hand a puck that was sitting there. Then this goal on the following face-off. Later, Filpulla scored a short handed goal (on his birthday) Finally Zetterberg came across out of the corner with a buzzer beating backhand shot over Loungo's shoulder to win the game.I have the whole sequence on my dvr. If i get a chance, I'll post it someday.

To be honest, I am a bit surprised on the commentator's emphasis on the deflection. If it was deflected, it occured almost immediately at the release. I don't think this is an excuse for Luongo not being able to stop it.

Sometimes you don't even see the puck...you know where it's going by the way it comes off the stick or in a heavy screen only the sound of the shot (doesn't apply in this case). The deflection probably threw Loungo off a bit... that being said: He should have made that save...a lot of young goalies trying to make it into the NHL probably would have. Like other people pointed out, it WAS Datsuyk, but part of the game is knowing who's on the ice.

I understand that Luongo is probably anticipating a shot going in a certain direction by the movement of Datsyuk, but even so, there is time for him to react to that shot. Contrast this with a deflection 10 feet from the goaltender. You understand my point, I know. I think Luongo just fudged this one, although it was a perfectly placed (by accident) shot.
