I`m sorry but going from vegan to eating pork.... have you lost your mind??? Pig meat is as poison to your dogs as to you and your family. Many studies out there about the harm pork does to the body. There was a real reason swine flesh was forbidden by God in the Bible.
As above, from leeleelocs, and I, above, for @mijikle Well, try pickled pig's feet or hock; the pickling makes 'em taste so great, and, . . . they're real messy to eat, so, children, especially, will enjoy chewing off every least bit of meat and cartilage. However, they're a little expensive, so, you may have learn to pressure cook and make yer own, . . .
Same for ears, but cut into bite-size pieces.
Also, chop and with the broth, make terrific gravy, . . .
@drm4521 then do this. Pick meat off the bones, discard bones. chop meat and cooked onions to desired consistency. Add vinegar, salt, black and red pepper, and sage to taste.
Pour into a large pan and allow to cool in refrigerator overnight. Cut in squares, serve with saltine crackers.
Pig ear is good food. You can buy them precooked at Chinese/Asian supermarket. They also sell many other precooked organ meat . Try them. If you like it, ask the chef there how to cook it. BTW, u did't cut the kidney right. don't cross cut kidney. Slice it in half like fillet and remove all white tissue w/ fillet knife. Clean it with flour and salt. Rinse it and do it 2-3 times. Stir fry w/ chives and white pepper, soy sauce. Very good eating.
I as a child eate pig,cow kidneys, liver, brain, chiken stmoaches, hearts fom boiled broth, also lot of fish sometimes raw, raw minced meats, alo drinked cow blood couple of times when was a kid. I kan tell you blood tases good, boiled kidneys are declicacy. I drunk milk from cows feeding on green grass. I'm a healthy person. Keep in mind when you process food it's quality (vitamins, nutrents) degrade. White flour has no nutriens just pure sugar in form of starch.
lol this looks so terrible to me! I dont even know how to cook liver... to make it taste good so I dont end up gulping it up. It just looks very graphic to me. I hav enever eaten any organ meat.
I think perhaps the only thing you should do with that pig's ear is to give it a proper burial and say a few nice words before you cover it up. I mean, what else would you want for that poor animal...? Hasn't it suffered enough, to say nothing of suffering the indignity of exposing its ear hair YouTube?
i can fully understand the reasoning for eating the organ meats, but i have had a very strong aversion to all meat since i was a child. how did you go from being vegan to "organ"ic... sorry for the pun :D i know i can eat raw butter and milk even choke back cod liver oil, but eating a liver or heart seems like a huge leap. i am worried for the health of my kids (6 mos and 3 1/2 yrs) also myself and husband. it is hard to know what is right. what convinced you to go w.a.p. vs vegan?
@mijikle My daughter who was 1 1/2 y.o. was failure to thrive (doctor diagnosed) and had cavities even though we brushed teeth and ate no sugar on an almost vegan diet. She also had milk and egg allergies and that is why we where almost vegan. WAP is big on recolonizing gut bacteria. Her cavities never grew bigger, her gappy teeth closed in and she is no longer allergic to foods on a WAP diet.
@mijikle Well, try pickled pig's feet or hock; the pickling makes 'em taste so great, and, . . . they're real messy to eat, so, children, especially, will enjoy chewing off every least bit of gristle and cartilage. However, they're a little expensive, so, you may have learn to pressure cook and make yer own, . . .
that makes my stomach turn - that was one nice looking pig ear perfectly cut - did you cut that - are you drinking the blood too - btw the still that was on the youtube preview I was like wtf I know what some might do to that ear if they hadnt had any in a while lol - anyways I dont know if I could kiss a girl that ate that - not to say you but just anygirl - what about carrots? sorry if I sound mean - I respect that you are looking for a health solution
Interesting. We have liver often, I cook it up in bacon grease and my kids can't get enough. Never an ear yet though, we also eat beef heart alot. So..can you tell me what kidney tastes like? I've been scared since I never had it.
i don't eat meat anymore but ate lots when I was a child. My mom and grandmom cooked pig ears, it was a real treat. After you clean it(remove hairs). Boil it in water to cover, add onions, salt, garlic, vinger, red pepper flakes. cook until fork tender, meat will be soft, skin will be tender, grizzle will be like soft but firm. It was wonderful. The next day it will be even better. Serve over rice. The sauce will gel up when cold and the fat will get hard on top so you can skim it off
i actually prefer lungs and guts for broth soups, along with bones and tripe or ome other skin, but liver is fine also, its just not as greasy .cheers for open-mindedness,glad there are people who know how to nourish themselves
I found out about burning the hairs after I had cooked it. It is great to hear that you enjoy eating offal! There are not a lot of recipes for these organ meats.
I was afraid to eat offal from fear of uric acid build up etc, until i remembered that my great grandfather was a butcher and had eaten meat every day of his life from his 25 birthday onward. He has a lot of recipes from the Bulgarian traditional cuisine, but i can't find them. They include dry cuts, offal and different broths. He died at 87 from pneumonia, after a harsh winter,in otherwise perfect health. If i find his notebook i can give you some of the recipes,if you want,of course.
I would love that! Thank you so much. So far I have gone from eating organ meats every 2 weeks to eating 3-4x a week. With this increase I have felt so much better. If folks would eat this stuff the drug companies would go bankrupt. Good recipes are always appreciated!
Im glad that you are following nature's way.Very few women can overcome the weight of authority and actually look through the whole food industry agendaBut its not just this mascarade going around..there are conspiracies and lies in other aspects of our lives..we just have to be aware and use our reason, that is why i never try to persuade anyone. If he is open minded he finds out the truth for himself
I imagine it is a good source of cartilage for broth? But I haven't heard of making broth out of pork. Judging by the related videos, it seems like a good thing for dogs? LOL
I have chicken stock in the crock right now. I was thinking the exact same thing. The pig ear is hairy though and I would hate for the hair to fall out in the broth. I can shave the hairs but I have to get my mind around doing so.
OH!! Me too! My whole house smells like chicken soup, I'm having some for lunch. I think the hairs would probably just melt, but I can't be sure about that. Don't take my word for it.
It takes a while to get used to the taste of organ meats. My kids are in the same boat. I fed them pig tongue and they just spit it back out at me. However this is the food our grandparents ate for a very good reason. Organ meats are very high in fat soluble vitamins that are hard to get from other foods. Organ meats are also nutrient dense & high in minerals. Also a great source of coQ10 and is a very healing food.

It takes about 10 exposures to a disliked food to start acquiring a taste for it.
At least that is what I am hoping for!
