  • Listen to the review... the game is challenging.... I am playing it.. but I really feel the need of an HDTV

  • lol, mark was so serious back then

  • Ace Combat in Space. :D

  • intro song?

  • I found this game irritating as hell, the controls are far to complex and from immediately your weapons aren't powerful enough for the larger enemies... the cruise missles nearly made me punch for the TV!!

  • I'm not sure why they changed the spelling of Silpheed to Sylpheed in this title. BTW this was a great review.

  • This guy always like real fun games, so I will buy this

  • BEST GAME EVER

  • All I have to say that this game is "G"

Badass rating from me if you never played it.

  • I had completely forgotten about my love for Omega Boost, I'll have to pick this one up and try it out^^

  • 5 minutes playing=seizure

  • more missile trails needed here

  • I've own the game since it came out and if you're a Starfox fan this is a great game for you it has an awesome concept of a deep space battle with story line elements that favor gundam at the same time I do feel like square enix coulda made a deeper concept behind storyline because they are the company to have to track record for doing that but all in all great game please let me know if you have questions on the game...

  • @NeoGuyver2 Wait, what??? What the h???

  • This wasn't much of a review. All it did was just so some game play footage and he talked a little about it. Didn't rate it or anything.

  • @MrArch111 So it's only a review if it's given an arbitrary number? Christ you're thick. He explained what the game was about, then said he liked it. That is most certainly a review.

  • @Errrrbo Quick to bash aren't you? Anyways I said it wasn't much of a review not it was not a review. Read before you write. The reason why I wrote what I wrote was because about 80% of the video is just a video intro from the game and the rest of the video was just him playing. There are about two or four sentences about the game and those are just I like this genre. Granted his later reviews are better and more in depth than this one. This still is a poor review regardless.

  • @MrArch111 You cited the lack of a number at the end as a reason it wasn't much of a review. That single-handedly makes you an idiot.

  • @Errrrbo Look I'm not in a mood for a flame war. My opinion is my opinion. Fact of the matter is that it wasn't much of a review. Now shut up and stop bothering me.

  • @MrArch111 And your opinion is stupid. Go follow numerical scores like the sheep that you are.

  • I really love these type of games, they need more love in north america. I saw this at my local pawnshop and im thinking of buying it tomorrow.

  • whats with the dam salsa in the back ground

  • One of the earliest CGR HD reviews, compare this one to his recent reviews. Mark sounds like he just got out of bed.

  • i love it. lol i noticed you really didnt say alot for this one, does it make you speechless or you figured it would be better to show instead of tell?

  • I really wish I got the older Sylpheed games when I had the chance, I never saw gameplay footage at that time and the older ones look extremely cool. I admit the graphics on this one look fantastic but did they have to make it a free-roaming shooter? Being locked into a dramatic path that interacts with the cool environments was part of the charm of the PS2 and Sega-CD games.

  • This ain't no truxton.

  • This game does nothing but remind me of how much I love Starfox64, I really wish they would release a new one for all consoles that was just like the one for 64 but with an insane multiplayer.

  • best $3 dollars I've ever spent

  • Very cheap on amazon I might buy it an you sound bored mike!

  • this is like a after burner in space, nothing similar to the sega cd indeed ! One of the cgs was a dann copy of Macross Plus Anime lol.

  • This game is $5 new factory sealed at a store near me. Should I?

  • i have omega boost. i sucked balls @ it though

  • Underrated gem.

  • "we don't get a lot of these types of games over here" - Understatement of the decade! I remember playing Colony Wars for months on the PS1, and I've been wanting to play something like that for a couple of years. For a long time I didn't even know this game existed, tried the demo and loved it. Can't wait to get my copy. Oh and good video btw. XD

  • this game is worth every penny but i had to spend 500 penny's. good deal

  • For Project Sylpheed 2: better online play, better replay mode, more epic boss fight (say, Ikaruga-like) and bigger laser bolt. It's a shame to see such small laser bolt in a space combat game.

  • How do those missiles not all crash into each other?! Seriously, they fill up the entire screen!

  • if only this could have been released for the PC...

  • You know what I hate k of realismin games and I am like oh you want it to be realistic so lets say grand theft auto you try to hijack a car and it is locked because you are in a bad neighborhood area then the guy in the car calls the police you are arrested then you have to continue the game in jail for a few years in real time trying to avoid rape and whatnot then you are finally released then you get killed by crashing into someone at full speed with a new stolen car, FU realism.

  • That Macross Plus game on PSone was pretty damn kick ass!

  • @pirosoffaireyes Macross by Sega for PS2 was way better. I played it. Too bad you didn't.

  • There are too many DAMN HUD DISPLAYS, ICONS, CROSSHAIRS, LINES, and NUMBERS ON THE DAMN SCREEN!!!!! That's what I hate about many of the new games today. They're too damn busy.

  • I have seen this game in the game store in my town, haven't seen a reason on why to play it, but now it seems to be like Omega Boost, next time, i'm buying it! :D

  • like Ace Combat in space.

  • i love this game

  • This is a good game I look Forward to a second.

And yes it is a shame seems like everyone is stuck in this over and over game style that has become popular over the last 2 years. This game breaks away from that style so much.

  • On wikipedia it says that most reviewers didn't like the hidden time limits. Well they aren't really hidden and also you just need to practice a be a better pilot to avoid losing to the time limit. This game is also one of those games that is a hard 1000G, but worth getting the 1000G. Extremely underrated I wish they would make a sequel, but apparently the developers that made this closed their doors.

  • @Comangeit it said it was made by squair enix there not closed

  • @Comangeit oh forget it they were only the publishers

  • It IS a shame they don't make many games like this; I totally agree.

  • Looks like StarFox.Might pick it up.

  • you don't have much energy in this review. lol

  • the only thing that's puting me off from buying this game is the lack of online multiplayer.. :/

  • This IS a good game, thanks for reviewing it, Mark.

  • It looks very fun, but very boring in the same time.

  • I agree with this guy. Project Sylpheed is an AWSOME game. As a matter of fact, it is one of my favorite games on the 360. Like I have heard others say, this game is WAY underrated.

  • Looks almost half as good as Silpheed for the Mega CD.

  • you should do project snow blind for ps2 it is the best shooter game in my view

  • i dont evn know whats wrong wif PS. I luve the game

  • As an old fan of X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and other free range flying shooters, I like this game. I've only played it for a couple hours, but it is fun, controls are pretty good (once you get used to it) and the graphics are very good. This game makes me wish I had a 52 in plasma.

  • Just wondering, what's the Monoceros Cannon like?

  • ok if you mix star fox and ace combat you get this

  • This game got bad reviews from other sites due to its technical difficulties and some other minor problems, but if you can look past that, this game is hella fun.

  • I agree we need more of these kinds of games in the U.S. and also that this is a great game.

  • is this coming to ps3?

  • Reminds me of "Ace Combat", except in space.

  • This is a great game.

Word of advice to new players: DO THE TUTORIAL FIRST!

Itll be a much easier game once you get the controls down.

The story I thought was pretty good considering its a space simulation title. It starts off really boring with "BRANDON" being shot down with like 30 seconds of screen time and the crew gets all emofied but they get over it and it just picks up from there.

So! If you like space sims with anime(ish) styled characters, destruction, and death you go buy it :)

  • Dude, I just got this in the mail and your right about doing the tutorial.

Great video InecomCompnay, i watched your VID about a week ago and just got the game. I'v only played for about 20 min. but this game is highly underrated so far and I love that so many buttons are needed.

  • glad to help I guess o_O?

  • umm i dont think the game use the the left analog stick (i mean wen u push don on it)

  • I actually just returned it to the video store

    ....

  • I played this game for about 5 minutes and through it out the window, in utter discust.

The controls sucked and where unresponsive and the graphics made no sense.

  • neither did what you just typed in, learn to spell =]

  • Lmao,"Threw it out the window". hahaha, i don't know why I found that soo funny. Hahaha threw it out the window.... Anyways...

  • is the achiements in ths game easy?

    ps the game looks cool

  • Hmmm I loved omega boost. So I`ll take your advice and pick this one up.

  • What I miss are games like the old Wing Commander games for the PC. I still have my copy of WC3 but obviously it wont play on modern pcs.

  • I bought this game recently used from the bargin bin , so I thought "why not?" after all I do like space shooters, but its soo confusing too many distractions on screen and all those con trails ! omg! I did not find it at all intuitive and gave up pretty quickly, i will give it another try but I am not holding out much hope..

  • This game is great. One of the main things that caught my eye was the Sylpheed name on the demo. Although it wasn't the best demo, I got the main point and thought I'd love it, so I went on a limb and bought it. Don't regret it. It's like Ace Combat, but in space, and with a crappy beginning story(Need to finish it before I can comment on it all...). I swear, stop grieving about some guy who wasn't very good and got blown up within a minute of the game. Chopper still brings a tear to my eye. :'(

  • "Not to be confused with the classic Silpheed on Sega CD" - actually it's the same developer, Game Arts so yeah.. it's not that far off ;)

  • If you like this type of game I encourage you to check out the Original (Yes, the Original as in Classic) Star Fox for the SNES and Star Fox 64 (Yeah, you know what that is for).

  • he did say about the controls, the graphics u can see and if u have played a game like this THE STORYLINE does not matter

    lol DRAMATIC FAIL

  • ...

if you found that a sufficient explanation about the controls and follow up commands for interfacing with multiple targets then i am sorry.

but as an information type video it lacks the proper input to generate the actual idea of controlling the ship

  • This is a review? You didn't tell us anything about the game. WTF?

  • they should make this game whit a inside cockpit view, like ace combat style of gameplay, and they need to cut down on the weird stripes and flashy colors and all other fantasy bullshit, then it would be a great space fighting game, only the planets and gas clouds are cool, somebody tell me if such a game exists,

  • i think that there is an option to go into the cockpit...not sure though

  • I can't see why game reviewers IGN gave it

such a low rating. Sylpheed looks like

one of the classiest type of the genre.

Space Flight Battle is a classic genre and

should be evaluated on the genre's merits.

I saw this review and bought it on Ebay.

I liked Starlancer on the Dreamcast and

Sylpheed is a perfect upgrade for 360!

  • Well said - I've always loved shooting games, flying games - to me this looks awesome, Starfighter (arcade)?Sipheed,Star Fox style goodness! Im certainly going to grab a copy!

  • I really enjoyed this game, but it's definitely not without its flaw or two. It desperately needed some better mission feedback as far as primary and secondary objectives are concerned.

Still tons of fun though. Sad to see this is such a dead genre though :(.

  • COOL

  • this is not good as MUSHA.

  • Project Sylpheed is a real great game but I mean I am a huge fan of the space combat flying types so w/e good game try it out if you like planes and sci fi

  • Hmm. I'm going to pick this up soon, it's only about 15$

  • I still play the demo, and I never really went to get the game... how much do you think it'd be?

  • 10-15$

  • I got it for 2.99$ at blockbuster

  • Jealous! D:<

  • I second that. :|

  • yeah i agree, it is sad that us guys that loves these kind of games cant get the here in the U.S. thats cause no many ppl like them as much and the rest of us, thats why they dont even bother selling them here.

  • Check out SkyGunner for the Playstation 2, a sort of similar free-range arcade style 3D shooter.

  • also check out contra hard corps for the genesis

  • that game totally flew under my radar

  • The Game has a good Storyline but, and its fun to play but it fails in the dog fight aspect that you expect when it comes to games like this.

  • If for some unknown reason I ever get an XBOX360, I'll buy this game. It does look pretty awesome. =)

  • I have this game... Nice but achievements are very hard to get.

  • its out in english?

  • Yup

  • This sounded much less biased than Xplay.

    Thank God.

  • Mark is one of the most unbiast reviewers ever

  • @boomstick545 true dat

  • Speaking of Omega Boost, will we see the old 2000 episode of that up soon? I think a lot of people don't know about that game!

  • Omega Boost will be up. Such a great game and a good episode.

  • I want it. looks like a good title.

  • Oh wow! I thought this was a Silpheed game lol. I am glad I read the description box!

  • This is so "Anime"ish, too bad it didn't use Cell Shaded graphics to reflect Anime, and as a personal preference, would have prefered Japanese Voice Overs. But as alwasy 5 star review ;)

  • Very impressive graphics.

  • well game room gets to the xbox 360. hope to see wii and ps3!
